    The best service

Excellent service, Chase was amazing. Lotana and Tifarah Chef Tifarah did an amazing job. The property is beautiful, food is delicious. It was my husband’s birthday celebration, it was spectacular. Our butler Chase went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable trip.

Relaxing Stay at Secrets St. James – A Solid Choice in Montego Bay

We just returned from a 5-night stay at Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, and overall, we had a really great time. My husband and I stayed in a Preferred Club room (#4307), and it was fantastic — the bed was super comfortable, the linens and pillows were high quality, and the room was cleaned daily with turn-down service every night. I also really liked the in-room toiletries; the soap, shampoo, and conditioner were all excellent. As Preferred guests, we had access to a private lounge with breakfast, lunch, and cocktails. While we didn’t use it much, it looked lovely and offered early morning coffee starting at 7 a.m. We’re beach people, so we spent every day soaking up the sun there. The beach is beautiful and peaceful, especially in the early mornings. We’re early risers and usually headed down around 5:30 a.m. to get our spot — loungers were always available at that time. That said, if you’re more of a pool person, you might run into some issues. There are very few loungers by the pools, and most of the space is taken up by cabanas that cost $100 USD per day — even for Preferred guests. Many of them sat empty, which felt like a bit of a missed opportunity. A few little things really stood out to me in a good way: The barrels of ice and bottled water placed around the resort were a nice touch and much appreciated. The jerk chicken served at lunch was delicious and easy to grab. The coffee bar was a favorite spot of mine — Jamaican coffee is on another level! We enjoyed all the food, with the Italian restaurant being our favorite, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine. It’s worth noting that this property is part of a larger complex — three resorts sharing the same amenities. If mobility is a concern, you’ll want to stay at Wild Orchid, which is closest to the restaurants, coffee bar, and entertainment. From our building (Preferred section of St. James), it was about a 0.75 km walk. This wasn’t a big deal for us, but we saw it being an issue for others. If you're looking for a quieter experience, St. James is a great option. It's also just a short drive from the airport, which was really convenient. To be honest, I was nervous before arriving after reading some of the negative reviews, but I’m happy to say we had a great stay. Was it mind-blowingly amazing? No. But it was relaxing, beautiful, and comfortable — exactly what we were hoping for.

    Awful

Still here and I can’t wait to go home. From the second we got off the plane, to now, 3 days later, it has been awful. When we were waiting for our ride to the hotel from the airport, we overheard a belligerent airport worker screaming on the phone to someone. When we told a worker about it, he ignored us. We took my daughter as a grad gift and the entire time, bartenders laughed at her and asked “are you even old enough to be here?” Roaches in our room, plumbing bad, ignorant staff, food portions tiny, room service well over an hour wait, tiny beach, dirty pools. The first night here, we went to the Barefoot Grille and asked if they had burgers. The worker told us, “no.” We watched them making burgers. Then I asked “ok, pizza?” Again, he told me no. He then went on to say “ma’am, we have no food.” At this point, my daughter and husband walked away. The worker then says “I’m just kidding.” Just poor taste all around, and honestly, scummy. My husband and I have been to Mexico, Dominican, Barbados and Grenadines. We know excellent service. And this was NOT it. I wish we could get our money back and leave today in all honesty.

    So nice!

Friendliest resort I have ever been to! I enjoyed myself greatly and will return in the future. I enjoyed how personal the staff was and that they always had a smile on their face. Avoid the time share pitch and you will have a wonderful trip!!!
