Dec 04, 2025Our experience at papagayo
My husband and I spent 10 days here from November 23 to December 3 2025. I'm honestly going to have to do a pros and cons list for this resort which I've never had to do before. Cons If you like a beachy resort this place is not for you. There are maybe 10 chairs collectively on the beach no umbrellas and no bar. We had the preferred club plunge pool King suite. What the website failed to tell us when searching this resort is that these bungalows are at the top of the very hilly resort 72 stairs up the mountain. We did expect a few stairs but not this many. If you have mobility issues you could not do this. The resort needs to put this information on their website. Also check in was horrible. Hugo who works the club preferred desk for check-in told us nothing basically here's your room key take a bus download the app see you later. They need someone doing check-in that are a bit more out going and forthcoming with information . We arrived at dark so therefore didn't know where restaurants or anything was. Coincidentally they were basically right around the corner from check in which if Hugo has just told us would have been so very helpful. With the price we paid it's price point is comparable to sandals and Royalton Diamond club but the service upon check in just isn't there. That being said here are the pro's Pros The bar staff at all bars is amazing best I've ever been too shout out to Jean and all the staff at the sugar Reef bar. I cannot praise enough about the Seaside Grill the food is outstanding Christian and his staff are utterly amazing and honestly made our vacation so thank you. Special shout out to Andrea Gerardo and Fernando from preferred club perhaps one of these people should work the desk because they were so outgoing and helpful. All in all we make the most of vacations and the weather was amazing. We had a couple's massage and the spa at this resort is amazing as well I am giving this resort a 4 but honestly that is solely based on the staff at the restaurants and bars without them this score would be much less

We had an amazing week at the resort. The atmosphere was peaceful and the entire property was very well maintained. The staff was always kind and attentive, and the food was consistently very good. We also loved the different areas of the resort, especially the quiet spots where we could relax at the end of the day. Everything felt easy and comfortable from the moment we arrived, which made our stay even better. We booked our tours through Nexttrip.com, and they were very helpful throughout the process. They helped us choose a private zipline tour at a place that also had beautiful hot springs, which was a perfect way to relax afterward. We also visited a stunning rainforest, spent time at an organic farm, saw sloths, and hiked to a lovely waterfall. They arranged our airport transfers as well, and the price was very reasonable, which made everything very convenient. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would love to return in the future.

Not worth the price. The rooms were extremely dirty to the point that we felt uncomfortable showering and staying in the room. It is very disappointing to pay so much money and receive such poor cleanliness and maintenance quality.

Costa Rica Birthday Girls Trip
This was my first international trip. I flew in from the USA to celebrate my sister’s 50th birthday. From the moment we stepped out of our shuttle onto the property, everyone was welcoming! We were greeted with cool face towels that smelled amazing and was very cool and refreshing. I can honestly say that everyone was very friendly. Some of the people who I remember were Harold one of the shuttle drivers, he was extremely nice and helpful. Emily, was another friendly face who was accommodating as well as Merari! Merari, led the sunset hike and she was FABULOUS! At one point, I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it because it was steep, but my girl, Merari was amazing! She encouraged me til the last step, and it was indeed worth the climb. Let me also add that I am gluten free and I was able to eat at all of the restaurants! Besides that, room service was also great. Like I said, this trip was fantastic!

6 Nights in Paradise
We had amazing weather and the best resort experience. I had an incredible facial at the spa with Marilyn. The facilities are top notch and the staff are all amazingly friendly.
