Dec 29, 2025A Chaotic Christmas
Pros: Great activities offered from cooking classes, yoga, to kayaking. A lot of positive servers. Beautiful clean beach. Nice clean pools. Good location. Cleaning team is great. Entertainment is lively. Cons: Initial room had no water pressure. Later worked in the evening. Next morning no water pressure they expected us to shower in a different room and come back and forth. Requested a new room, this one was right by the main pool with tons of noise. Watered down drinks, and I rarely drink alcohol. The bottles are watered down. Food is inconsistent one day it’s good the next day it’s bad. Overall food is ok if you’re hungry you’ll eat anything. Tons of sales pressure for member packages, a Christmas dinner that was the same as what was at the buffet. Sales pressure for wine and special tables. Lots of gossiping and snickering at the guest’s expense. Room service app malfunctioning and sent us completely different orders several times. Shuttle Service arrived over 30 minutes late and made us rush and stress to get our flight.

Beautiful, serene, extraordinary experience. The options of pool or ocean and the variety of food options was great. The spa set up was so amazing. The entertainment was excellent. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were private with the best views. The options for excursions was plentiful.

Dec 28, 2025Great place. Compared to other Secrets resorts…
Our family has been to 8 different Dreams/Secrets resorts during Christmas break over the last 8 years. Most are in Cancún area or Mexico in general. I’ll break this down in pros and cons in comparison to those resorts. Pros: - The nature. Beautiful scenery of the tropical lush landscape that Costa Rica has to offer. Very unique and very gorgeous. - Opportunity for excursions. We did a jet ski tour with FranktheTank where they picked us up at the resorts and we each had a jet ski to tour surrounding islands and feed monkeys, snorkel, and visit a cave. Also, we went ziplining through the rainforest which was wonderful. Unique to CostaRica. - Smaller. This may be a con for some but we enjoyed the smaller area. Meant that there were less people and it felt much less busy than other secrets resorts. Less waiting for dinner. Easier to get chairs by pool. - The beach/ocean. The beach is amazing. Black volcanic rock sand. Ocean temperature is perfect and the waters are calm and clean. Fun to go on beach walks/swims to other beaches nearby. - Overall vibe was nice and you had a choice. There was a main pool and a quiet pool. We spent most time at the main pool which had some fun activities and a good balance of relaxation and excitement. Other pool was very quiet and good for those who just want to chill. You get to choose. - People/Vacation friends. Easy to get to know other people because of less people around. Bar after night was cool - we went only a couple times. - Activities. Everything you could want minus beach volleyball. But there’s snorkeling, kayaking, pool volleyball, pool basketball, JENGA, ping pong, 8 ball and plenty of small games that are fun and keep you busy. Hiking trails were also great. - Weather. No threat of rain here in December. 86° and sunny every day with a few clouds here and there. - Service. Good people working. Made a lot of friends with the workers. Cons: - Resort is very spread out. Your room will likely be anywhere from a 10-25 minute walk to the main pool/restaurants. Shuttles are there but they’re a little shaky. - Food. Not that it was bad by any means. But compared to other secrets resorts, it falls short. Only three main restaurants and none of them are great. - Fitness Center. My family works out every morning so this was a big one for us. The fitness center was very very small. Dumbbells only went up to 50 lbs. and only two benches. Maybe 5 or6 treadmills/ ellipticals. Not enough space for more than 8 or so people. - Spa. Very underwhelming. We did the hydrotherapy and it was literally just a sauna and a hot tub. All in all, we had a great time. Would definitely go back again, but there are some shortcomings

Family Christmas Vacation
My favorite server was ELOY! Every morning he served us coffee and thanked us for coming. Just a kind kind man. Favorite entertainment director is MERARI! Gave us so much love and attention and let us make brackets with her. Favorite bartenders Ronnie & Daniel. Hibachi Chef CAROLINA was magical.

Location and atmosphere was great. Food was a huge let down especially if you are a vegetarian. Rooms were good and the walking in the resort was great The beach is small and if you are a huge beach fan, you may be a little disappointed
