Dec 14, 2025Great Place to Have a Honeymoon
My husband and I went to Secrets Papagayo for our honeymoon. The resort was nice, it is spread out but everything is within walking distance or you can use their transportation. We liked to walk the beach back and forth to the two different sides. Overall, the staff was absolutely fantastic. I would go back because the service was so good in the pool area and restaurants. Specifically, Alonso at the pool bar/manatee bar was great, he made special drinks and was super attentive. We really enjoyed getting to know him . Jean Pier was also fantastic, he was extremely attentive, kind and fast with drinks. Overall great service from these two. We would definitely come back, the beach is super clean and nice. The resort was nice and the staff was great. It is not too far from the airport, we used AmStar for our ride there and back and they were also great to work with and had a desk at the resort.

We'll be back!
First time to CR and we will definitely go back. Not much of a party resort, but a great opportunity to have fun during the day and rest and recharge ar night. Our room was quiet and comfortable and we liked to sit out on our deck and have coffee in the morning, or minibar beers in the late afternoon. Don't miss the Four Elements evening show, it was fantastic. Food was average to above average, we especially enjoyed Portofino. We loved having wings and nachos at the poolside in the afternoon. Aqua was a great option for a la carte breakfast but we didn't discover it until late in our trip, otherwise we may have gone more often because it was so close to our room. Special thank yous to Alba Carrillo and Eloy Gutierrez at Market Cafe, Christian "Clark Kent" Astua at Seaside Grill, and Alonso Mendoza at swim up bar.

Different in a Good Way
It was a much different Secrets resort than I'm used to. It was very spread out and very hilly with a lot of walking. But I loved it ! Miriam our UVC Representative was amazing and made sure that we received all of our benefits of being a member, she went above and beyond actually! The food was solid everywhere we went, the staff was very attentive and helpful, and housekeeping was excellent. If you want a nice beach to hang out at this is probably not your place however. My only complaint on the entire stay is that the pool gets very very crowded and it's really hard to find a place to sit, so Miriam arranged cabanas for us each day. I would highly recommend reserving those daily. The spa is very small, however, my wife and I had one of the best massages we've ever had. The staff there is really good. Ahmed the bellman/van driver is a wonderful person who will gladly take you from place to place if you're not up to walking. We were with another couple, and he remembered all of our names from day one. He said he will remember them when we come back and I plan on putting him to the test because we will definitely be back next year!

Great experience and very welcoming staff!!
We had a fantastic experience at this resort. The setting is stunning, with two lovely coves that offer completely different views and places to relax. We were impressed with the quality of the meals and drinks throughout our stay, and our room was always clean and well-maintained. Because the property is built across several hills, using the shuttle is necessary in many areas, unless you happen to be near the main facilities. Overall, the scenery and ocean views make this place truly memorable. At the hotel they recommended NextTripcr.com for outdoor activities, so we reached out to Chris and booking with him was incredibly easy. He was always quick to respond and very helpful. We did the Leona Waterfall Hike, visited the rainforest, and arranged our airport transfers, all without any issues. We highly recommend this resort and the services they suggested. We’re already planning to come back next year. Pura vida.
