Paradise
I’m not usually one to leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience as I’m currently on day seven of a nine-night stay—and this hotel has exceeded all expectations on so many levels. It’s not just the hotel itself or its beautiful location, but also the stunning décor throughout and the immaculate condition of everything. Our room overlooks the garden, alongside a wonderful sea view, and it’s simply perfect—peaceful, elegant, and maintained to the highest standard. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff and the thoughtful details. Every member of the team is incredibly friendly and attentive. There are so many small touches that make a big difference—from a fresh rose placed in our room to complimentary water and even a lovely gift of biscuits. One moment that really stood out was at breakfast this morning. A member of staff noticed how much we enjoyed sitting outside, even though it’s not quite peak season yet, and kindly offered to lift the blind so we could fully enjoy the view. It was such a simple gesture, but it meant a lot. Even the complimentary olives served with lunchtime drinks deserve a mention—they are genuinely the tastiest olives I think I’ve ever had! The food here is also absolutely outstanding. As someone who loves food, I’ve been blown away by the sheer variety and quality on offer. There is so much selection, with different variations of seafood cooked to perfection right in front of you. Alongside that, the desserts, cheeses, and everything else available are simply incredible—far too much to even list. Every meal feels like a treat, and the standard is consistently high and extremely tasty. Truly five-star all round. A special thank you to Mattias, the concierge, who has been exceptionally warm and welcoming. He always takes the time to check in with us, and his kindness and professionalism haven’t gone unnoticed. This is our first stay here, but we’re already talking about when we can return—hopefully making it an annual visit. I know that when it’s time to leave, I’ll genuinely miss this place, but I’ll also feel incredibly grateful for such a wonderful experience.

Nice hotel - don’t bother paying extra for preferred club.
The hotel is very nice. However it’s early in the season and wouldn’t recommend wasting your money on Preferred Club. The PC pool is not heated and is freezing. The PC breakfast menu hasn’t changed yet and we weren’t even asked this morning if we wanted anything off it. The PC lounge is supposed to have premium brand spirits - all that are available in the main bar. Just can’t see why we are getting extra for the extra money! It’s also worth noting that no other restaurants are currently open, just the buffet, either the option of an à la carte menu, again which hasn’t changed and we’ve been told won’t this week.

Not quite 5 stars
It's a pity that, once a hotel has been awarded 5 stars, a star cannot be removed, for in our opinion, this hotel is not worthy of the 5 stars it displays above its entrance nor of the 5 star prices it charges. It is trying to be two hotels in one - 'preferred club' and 'others' with the result that the 'others' are treated as second class. The hotel is excellently situated (which is why we chose it) between the main street and the beach. We could not fault our reception at Villamil - we were offered a drink and escorted to our room and later brought water and biscuits. Nor could we fault our room itself - it was of good size with an excellent bathroom and balcony and with plenty of storage space and kept very clean by our pleasant chambermaid. The pool was clean but the area around it suffered from an excess of pigeon poo and the waitresses in the poolside cafe were reluctant to serve us. It was in the dining area that the cracks began to show! Everyone was 'encouraged' to sit outside on the balcony but, as we were not keen to share our food with the resident pigeons and many small birds, we wished to stay inside only to find that the tables were laid for breakfast rather than dinner. The staff seemed poorly trained and did not seem to have a serving system - they did not know how to correctly lay a table nor that hot water was needed to make tea along with the teabag! The food was disappointing. Many less exotic hotels have provided a better range of cereals for example. And, although side dishes at breakfast were hot, the side dishes at dinner although kept in the same area, were invariably cold. The show cooking was chaotic with 'orders' frequently getting mixed up. We expected a higher standard for the price we paid. We're not just nitpicking here. We have travelled all over the world and stayed in many kinds of hotels some of which were Hyatt brand but we were disappointed that the Villamil, for all its pretentions, didn't quite make the grade.

A really lovely break in a lovely Hotel.
It was lovely to come back to this hotel, it had been many years since i had been & things had changed, but for the better. Adults only, great food at mealtimes & great entertainment at nights. I found the other guests very sociable. The room was really nice, the staff were so kind & couldn't do enough for you. The Hotel is central & lots of little shops & cafes outside. I'm really pleased I came back.
