Feb 22, 2026A 3.5 star resort at best!
This is a 3.5 star resort trying to oversell itself as a 5 star! It lacks everything from quality of food, hours of operations of bars and restaurants and a property that is falling apart due to lack of upkeep and maintenance. Photos are false advertising mainly of their spa which you can’t access unless you pay a high fee, rooms that are tired and pool with broken tiles and the list goes on. Not good value for your money if you pay for a 5 stars hotel. Try other properties there. Never going back.

Mirelly at Castaways restaurant was our favorite waiter. She would take time to tutor us in Spanish and planned a special birthday dinner for my husband. She was exceptionally patient with guests who were afraid of Coatis passing by and treated us as friends. We went every night to Castaways for the food, view & friendship of the staff, in particular Mirelly. The hotel setting was magic and we had a wonderful holiday! Highly recommended!

There are a lot of reviews about the age of the building - so yes - it’s older and you have to adjust your attitude. Most of the staff are amazing - the entertainment staff make your trip amazing (if you come to play in the activities). They all do a great job juggling multiple activities! Amire and Alejandro as my kayak tour leaders absolutely made the trip amazing. The hotel was also amazing in giving us a place to watch the Olympics - they had food, drinks and staff to serve us along with 3 tv’s and 1 projector. Honestly, one of my best memories of the trip is watching hockey with a bunch of Canadians! The staff are amazing. The pools do need to be updated (they are trying to maintain as best as they can) but I can also say that the size of the pools exceeded my expectation.

Oceans restaurant -@Secrets resort
Oceans restaurant at Secrets was wonderful . We had an excellent gourmet dinner courtesy chef Jose Manuel and our great server Jorge who had to navigate our dinner around a variety of allergies.
- AdvisoryStudent Groups (Spring Breakers) are not permitted at Hotel. A student group consist of those that travel without parent supervision or a responsible adult in each room. This could refer to but not limited to high school students or college students booking multiple rooms. The hotel reserves the right to deny lodging to any reservations of this type.
