We have been coming here since it opened and were so disappointed this time. Price has increased significantly and quality has decreased significantly. Food quality and choice reduced. Items in buffet some days available other days not. Food mislabeled as ham & cheese was shrimp, my husband has shellfish allergy and could have had serious consequences . Staff excellent Angela Beach server, Ximena beach yoga Daniel, Alejandro etc sail boats Yuliana Sky Bar Carlos Buffet but newer staff struggling. Buffet manager not helpful in allergy situation. Unless improved we won't be returning and we previously loved coming here. Please bring back the quality we have come to expect from the Secrets name.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Secrets Huatulco. We come here annually for our Winter getaway and it never disappoints. The staff are amazing & work very hard to provide an enjoyable stay for their guests.

Disappointed. Not likely to return
The resort met our basic expectations. The food at the restuarants is very spotty. The Bordeax is good and the preferred restaurat, Castaways, has a limited menu and is exceedinly poor for dinner. We referred to the preferred lounge as a Closet (2 loveseats, a coffee talbe, no windows). The beach is excellent!

Breakfast buffet team rocked!
My husband and I went to Secrets Huatulco for a week vacation and I just want to give a shout out to the breakfast buffet crew (Mayra Tinoro, Carlos Ivan and the hostess Andrea) for being such a great team! They were so nice, very attentive and most of all so much fun with us and each other. You can tell they enjoy what they do very much. It was a pleasure to dine with them each day, great job!

Jan 25, 2026Spectacular views, mediocre food and below average service
We really wanted to like this hotel because it has stunning views and a nice, remote location. It's unique because there are no other hotels in sight and from every area of the property there are gorgeous views. Every room has an ocean view and don't miss morning coffee up at Castaways with the awesome view. We are more quiet and laid back so we super appreciated the relaxed environment and older crowd; this is definitely not a party resort. We've been to 6 or 7 other Secrets hotels in Mexico and the Caribbean and this location was the quietest. Got a great night's sleep and could chill on the balcony listening to the ocean in the morning and evening. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by the lack of hotel maintenance. The room itself was outdated but clean and fit our needs for a 7 day stay so that wasnt a deal breaker. The general areas though all need a good deep clean, fresh paint, wash the windows and just overall maintenance. The lack of upkeep makes this property not a 5 star. The staff was very blase and treat customers like we are their coworkers instead of paying guests. Lot of workers standing around and did not yield to guests in the hallways, not even when the guests were senior ciizens. The lack of attentiveness from staff, an overall negligent feeling and lack of motivation is what really was negative about our stay. Only about 10% were genuinely smiling and made us feel welcome and warm. Maybe Hyatt doesn't pay them enough?? Food was mediocre and not at all what we expected. Steaks and fish were typically overcooked. Tamarindo restaurant was pretty good and they had live music one night which was a nice highlight but otherwise the hotel plays a lot of American music for entertainment. Views are a 10 but mediocre food and less than average service is why we would not visit this hotel again unless they made improvements.
