Resort is well laid out but kind of stark, not very pleasant. Elevators are slow and unreliable. Great watersports. Snorkeling on the east side is worthwhile. I went every day. Nice breeze sitting under a palapa in the shade. Service was fine. Good choice of restaurants but menus were limited. Buffet was closed several evenings. Nice selection of fruit at the buffet. Was never there in the evening. Overall food was okay but not amazing. I would return because the beach/watersports were great despite food not being great. I wou

The hotel has great views and a beautiful and calm beach. Staff was always very friendly and attentive, special kudos to the whole animation team, who make the ambience very funny and enjoyable. Food is pretty good in general, although it lacks a bit compared to other Secrets hotels.

Dec 23, 2025Gym sucks! Seen better at Super 8
The gym/fitness center is essentially non-existent. It was an insult to see such a poorly equipped gym, if you can call it that. We didn’t even use the facility 1 time because the gym was completely lacking any type of useful workout equipment. A treadmill, a couple spin bikes, and 2 sets of kettlebells with an adjustable bench and 1 bar with only 2 - 45 lb plates is NOT a gym. Such a disgrace. I’ve been to Super 8 Motels in run down neighborhoods with more and better equipment. I usually work out every single day of the year but it was impossible at Secrets Huatulco. So disappointed! I will NEVER return to this resort because of the complete lack of a gym. I will NOT recommend this resort to anyone….ever, because of the fact that there isn’t a place to work out on the holiday. The gym makes this resort a 1-star. The purpose for a holiday is to exercise, eat good food, and get some much needed recovery/rest. A body should be healthier after a holiday and we are actually in physically worse condition because of the lack of exercise equipment at this resort. Beach bar had burgers, hotdogs, and nachos. Really? Where is the poolside/beach sushi bar? Staff is good, beach and weather is amazing! But I will NEVER return due to the complete lack of any type of fitness center.

Dec 22, 2025Pretty, clean, friendly but food not to our liking.
It is a big complex with just 2 working elevators. Dress code not reasonable, long pants for men and collared shirts to eat inside restaurants or if you wear shorts you have to eat outside the restaurants. Ladies dress or skirts no flip flops. English not spoken easily with staff, very friendly, clean and try hard. We found the food buffets not great, good French restaurant, Nice specialty coffee shop. All inclusive trying hard to be upscale but not worth it.

Fabulous stay, preferred club doesn't provide value for the money
This is our second stay at Huatulco and we love the place. Beach is amazing, hotel is clean but a little bit worn out, needs renovation and especially fixing elevators. Food is decent quality, great selection of fruits at all times, no issues with stomach, decent selection of Chilean wines, great beach restaurant, amazing view from the room. We enjoyed our stay very much. Preferred club does not give value for the money, there are no "upgraded" amenities, all rooms are similar and have the ocean view. I was very disappointed with the premium liquor quality, in the preferred club. We stayed in Secrets Dec 2024 and the premium drinks were of a high quality, this has change this year (December 2025). It was obvious that staff was poring out the original premium drink and substituting with the lower quality, for example: when the fresh bottle of Zacapa rum was initially opened the drink had the original high quality taste, the second day the taste was quite different (we drink Zacapa regularly and are very familiar with the smell and the test). This is unacceptable as it is obvious the original high quality rum was substituted with lower quality drink.
- AdvisoryStudent Groups (Spring Breakers) are not permitted at Hotel. A student group consist of those that travel without parent supervision or a responsible adult in each room. This could refer to but not limited to high school students or college students booking multiple rooms. The hotel reserves the right to deny lodging to any reservations of this type.
