Go Preferred if you like the beach
We just got back on April 10th from a week at Secrets Cap Cana. As other reviews state, the service at this resort is awesome. We stayed in the preferred side, and if the beach is important to you, then go preferred, as the beach and chair availibilty and beach service is outstanding on the preferred side. Beyonce' and Cassandra were both incredible servers on the beach, just wonderful. Luis brought our room service, he was great as well. Also, the food they cooked on the beach each day was great! Our butler, Alexis, was very good, extremely professional and responded to us quickly. We are not very needy, but the few things we asked for he got us right away. The room was fine, no issues. The food was good at most places, but Himatsu was a little lacking, just ok. We lked Portofino and El Patio the best. We ate lunch at Rose Water by the preferred pool, it is really good. They tried to do "Havana Night" or Cuban night in the buffet one night, "Cuban food and music" they said. The music was great, but the food seemed the same as any other day. I asked one of the chefs if they had Cuban sandwiches, and he just said "Cuban sandwich? You want a hamburger or chicken burger?" I would think not being very far from Cuba, they could find someone who actually knew what Cuban food was, like some cuban seasoned roasted pork or chicken??? Disappointing but not a big deal. The preferred club was just ok. The preferred clubs at Dreams we have been to have been much better. The food at this preferred club was the same each day, some cheese and fruit and deserts, a couple cold sandwich options. We've been to others that had sushi and even hot food items. The entertainment was ok, the Queen show was good. The pop show was ok, the Alecia Keys show was boring, the girl could really sing, but it was slow. One thing on the entertainment, given the age of the crowd at this resort, how about a Neil Diamond show, or something like that? Also, the lobby entertainment was lacking. Several years ago we stayed at a Dreams in Mexico, they just a couple guys with guitars and drummer and played cover songs, it was great. Just have a guitar player that plays pop hits or classic rock songs, that would be much more fun for sitting around the lobby bar at night. The preferred pool is nice and quiet, and not everyone reserved chairs at 5AM, some did, but getting a chair was pretty easy. They might think about enforcing their no reserving chairs and leaving policy a little more. We were only 2 people, so no big deal. We did see some people put towels on 5 or 6 chairs, and just leave and didn't see them again. Overall this is a very nice resort, peaceful, clean, good food, incredible service, good drinks, I really liked the canned beer variety. If you want night life and action, probably not the place for you. We will probably go back.

A true paradise with a relaxed vibe
This resort is incredible! The food is delicious, the activities are varied and it has a lovely relaxed vibe. The beach is so well kept and the poolside service is amazing. Cocktails are top quality too. The staff are excellent, big shout out to the entertainment team, Jhon Cena, Mini, ice cube, Maria, diamond and scooby doo being some of our favourites! We loved the volleyball, bike tours and Zumba so much. Also the craft activities are lovely and varied too. Our concierge Renaldo was very attentive too. The coffee shop staff always had a smile and the coffee is superb! Rooms were always well kept and so clean. Probably a little older than some other hotels. We didn’t want to leave. A few suggestions to improve would be more diet drinks especially as I am diabetic! The music for the classes could be a bit more varied. And the desserts could be more fresh and natural tasting at times. Also the excursion we went on this time was a lot of travelling and the snorkelling wasn’t great I think because of over population of the areas for snorkelling. Included an hour and half coach, tent minutes Taxi and two hour catamaran ride for thirty minutes of snorkelling (Catalina island) felt like a bit of a tourist trap and the open bay was just rum and coke. The singers and poolside music was really lovely especially the reggae duo and piano player. The queen show is so much fun! Last time we did the reef explorer and scape park and they were great and not as far away!

Beautiful beach trip
My husband and I I went on this trip for our anniversary and we had an amazing time. What stood out most for us was the exceptional service, great food at all of the restaurants (this was not the case at a different resort while previously in Punta Cana), the beauty of the resort, and the gorgeous beach. It was definitely kept up with and the water was a pretty turquoise color. The sand was white. They had a coconut bar on the beach that we loved the most bc they would cut the top off and add rum to it to mix with the coconut water. So good. All in all it was a great experience with attentive staff and lots of beautiful scenery. Oh yes and they had fun night shows, particularly the Queen tribute band.

Great Family Vacation
We stayed at Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa for a family trip celebrating my mom’s birthday, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The highlight was the staff—everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive. A special thank you to Carlito, our concierge, for helping with reservations, and Carmen at the buffet for her outstanding service. Overall, the service across the resort was exceptional. The beach is beautiful and very well maintained—one of the nicer ones in the area. Seaweed was well controlled during our stay, and I enjoyed walking it daily. The shows in the theater were also fantastic—great entertainment and a really fun part of the evenings. A couple of areas for improvement: the beach chair situation needs better management. Although the hotel has a “no reserving chairs before 12 p.m.” policy, it’s not enforced, and finding shade mid-morning was difficult. More umbrellas or shaded areas would make a big difference. Also, the dinner system could be improved. Since reservations aren’t taken, we experienced wait times of up to 45 minutes. Thankfully, our concierge was able to assist, but a better system would help. We didn’t book Preferred and didn’t feel we missed out. The main difference is that Preferred offers a butler, but our concierge essentially did the same for us, helping with anything we needed. Preferred also offers à la carte breakfast, but the buffet was more than sufficient. The only real advantage of Preferred was the extra shade on their beach, but for the cost, we didn’t feel it was necessary. The à la carte restaurants were all excellent, and the service was consistently top-notch. Overall, a wonderful stay—just a few tweaks on logistics, and it would be perfect!
