  Run down and terrible food

  We went with 2 other couples because they frequent Hyatt resorts, and it was so underwhelming. The first room we were in was clearly distressed. They acknowledged our booked room wasn’t available the first day and moved us the second day. The second room was ok. It seems like they must be in the middle of remodeling or something because many of the rooms are really bare. Of the 3 couples, our second room was the only one that was as expected. Then the food…. It was almost inedible at times. The French restaurant was pretty good, and Oceana was good for lunch. The rest was really bad. Want to be really underwhelmed? Order anything Mexican from the room service menu. Honestly, the only food that was as expected were the poolside burgers they did at lunch, but skip the fries. I can’t believe people sign up for the vacation club based on visiting this resort.

  Not what it used to be

  Resort is under construction but they won't tell you that. Good luck getting a chair after 9:30 or a towel before 9. Breakfast and lunch was both slow and borderline inedible. I have stayed here before but it's gone downhill a great deal in the 2 years since my last stay

  Better than expected

  Secrets Aura turned out to be better than I was expecting. The negative reviews really had me worried, but we had a great time. Our room was nice, the hot water worked and our air conditioner worked. We didn't have any problems except that the air conditioner was dripping in our bathroom off and on throughout the week. Maintenance came once to fix it, but it kept dripping. Not a big deal. The staff was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, especially Kenia at the Market Cafe. She greeted us for breakfast with a smile and made sure we were taken care of. Geovanny (not sure of the spelling) was the best bartender in the place at the Preferred Club pool swim up bar. We spent most of our time at the Preferred Club pool because it was quieter and more low key than the others. The beach was great, but it was difficult to get into the ocean with all of the rocks right off the beach. The food at the a la carte restaurants was good. We enjoyed the hibachi dinner at the Sky Bar the most. The food was fantastic and the chef did a great job. The buffet leaves a little to be desired. There was not much to choose from and the food was kind of bland. We also booked the Bali Bed Bonfire for the 2 of us. It was nice, not sure it's worth the money we paid, but we still enjoyed ourselves. All in all, I would recommend this resort to others, but there's not really anything that would bring us back.

  Ok, not great

  Decent location, in need of some renovations but not bad facilities. Service was meh overall. Not sure what paying for preferred status gets you as except for "Preferred Club" where you used room key to get in there was no way for them to check (no bracelet, etc) if any of patrons using preferred areas and services were actually "preferred status" of just wandered in.

  Expected a Hyatt-Level Experience — Unfortunately Disappointing

  Arrival Room was not ready; waited 90 minutes. Vacation Program Presentation Promised 30 minutes → lasted nearly four hours. Membership / Discount Confusion 25% discount promised but required a physical card we were never given. Room Maintenance Issue Leaking air conditioner caused water on floor and a fall. Dining & Leisure Credits Difficulty accessing restaurants; $200 credit unusable due to canceled excursion. Checkout Room key stopped working about an hour before official checkout.
