  I could go on & on about this resort. Simply perfect

  We truly can’t say enough about our first anniversary trip back to where we got married at Secrets Akumal, Riviera Maya Mexico in 2025. What we thought was a normal reservation for our second night in was actually a private dinner. We walked to our table in a secluded area with our wedding song playing, a personal menu and photos of our wedding all over the tables. We want to thank our concierge Alexandra Ed and Jiovanna for setting this up along with our wedding coordinator from last year, Sarahi. Our last night they gave us a free night/room and moved us to a room directly overlooking where we got married. The food!! I don’t think we had one bad meal here. The poolside lunches are to die for, as well as all the restaurants on site are absolutely phenomenal. We thought the Market (buffet for breakfast, lunch & dinner) was above standards as well. You truly can’t go wrong. Let’s talk about the service. Every single person on staff we have ever crossed is happy and ready to make your experience the absolute best it can be. They reallly take care of the pool and beach area. It’d always aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They are constantly tidying up as much as they can. Carlos, being one of the staff that stood out to us. He’s going to go places here!! He’s so personable and knowledgeable of the resort. Making sure you know exactly what’s going on and where. He’s the life of the party for sure. I’ll post a photo - please find him if you go to this resort!! Eduardo & Mario were our swim up pool bar bartenders the whole trip. THE BEST. They really know how to make you have a great time & they have the best conversation! We can’t wait to see them next year. There are so many, many more to name. This resort truly goes above and beyond and I’ll be forever grateful of the experience we had here last year and this year. Until next year .. 🤍

  Best vacation ever in Paradise.

  We spent 10 days at the resort. We had a beautiful full-size suite with a swim pool. The food, the service the property were just beautiful. weather couldn’t have been better and we were treated so nicely by all staff, especially a concierge, Riccardo and our room cleaner Aida. While there I had my birthday and staff went out out of their way to make it a special day that included beautiful desserts, balloons, and a bottle of Dom Perignon period this was our second visit and we plan to return next year for our third. One of the best vacations ever.

  Excellent

  From the moment we arrived at Secrets Akumal, we knew we had chosen somewhere special. The hotel itself is absolutely pristine and beautifully designed, with a calm, spa-like atmosphere that immediately helps you unwind after travelling. Check-in was flawless. We were welcomed with champagne and cold flannels to freshen up after our long journey, which was such a thoughtful touch. The staff were incredibly attentive and made the whole process smooth and relaxing. One thing that really stands out is the signature scent throughout the hotel — their la labo bergamot fragrance. It smells incredible and adds a subtle but very luxurious feel everywhere you go. Little details like that really elevate the experience. The entire resort and grounds are immaculate. Everything is kept spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail is outstanding. From perfectly prepared sunbeds with fresh towels to the attentive service by the pool, every part of the hotel feels carefully considered. The staff truly make the experience exceptional. Every single member of the team we encountered was warm, friendly and genuinely eager to help. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their kindness felt completely sincere.and a special shoutout to Jose for looking after us at the pool side every day of our holiday.. Dining was another highlight. Every à la carte restaurant felt like a fine dining experience, with excellent service and beautifully presented food. The all inclusive wine options are great and you get an option to order from the specialist wine list. The pool cabanas are a really high-end touch and make relaxing by the pool even more enjoyable. There was always plenty going on around the main pool with entertainment throughout the day if you wanted a lively atmosphere, but there were also quieter pool areas where you could relax in peace if you preferred something more calm. The beach itself is beautiful, although during our stay there was quite a lot of sargassum in the water. This seems to be a wider issue across parts of Mexico at certain times of year and is completely down to nature rather than anything the hotel can control. We usually travel specifically for beach destinations and love spending time by the sea, but even with this, the hotel more than made up for it. We stayed in a Preferred Club Tropical room, which was stunning. The room was beautifully finished and featured a hot tub both in the room and on the balcony, which made it feel incredibly luxurious. The La labo bergamot toiletries were another lovely detail, and housekeeping was excellent with the room cleaned twice a day and mini car stocked up with snacks, drinks and coffees. Overall, I genuinely cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The combination of beautiful surroundings, incredible attention to detail, fantastic food, and truly exceptional staff made this one of the best resort experiences we’ve ever had. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and would highly recommend Secrets Akumal to anyone looking for a luxurious, relaxing getaway. we are frequent travelers and get away every 4 to 6 weeks and was looking for somewhere new to visit. We can’t wait to return.

  Gorgeous Resort, Awesome Breakfast & Activities

  We had a fantastic time at Secrets Akumal. Everything was top-notch, the room, pools, beach, restaurants… the whole experience. Breakfast was a highlight. The green juice and latte combination became my go-to every morning. What really took the trip to the next level was the staff. This resort has such an experienced, thoughtful, and friendly team. The chefs, waiters, bartenders, baristas, and hosts were all excellent, and the housekeeping team kept our room clean and fresh throughout our stay. A special thank you to our concierge, Reyna, who made sure all our needs were met. He was incredibly helpful with reservations and questions about the resort, and he went out of his way to make sure my wife felt celebrated for her recent job promotion. If you don’t have dinner reservations one night, don’t worry — there’s almost always some sort of grill set up. You’ll never be short on great food. The molcajete at El Patio is delicious and massive — recommend sharing. Coco Cafe is open 24/7 for coffee drinks, prepared food, and a great vibe. They also serve ice cream after noon. The coconut is my favorite. Shoutouts The entertainment team made sure we were always having a great time and really made the week extra special. We played a lot of beach and pool volleyball with Ari, Alan, Sienai, Max, and Alejandro — always a blast. On our first morning, we joined the bike tour through Akumal with Sienai and Alejandro, which was awesome. That afternoon we did Alejandro’s jungle tour, which I highly recommend if you want to learn more about the resort and the local plant life. If you’ve never tried a spin class in the pool, check out the pool biking activity! Sienai made it very fun. Since you’re in the land of the turtles, go snorkeling with them! I recommend bringing your own snorkel. Oscar and Sienai led our tour, and we saw a bunch of turtles and a stingray. Our group also joined a cocktail-making competition hosted by Alejandro and Andres — fun and hilarious. The beach setup is excellent. There are plenty of shaded chairs, and the waiters (like Noe) are always nearby to take drink orders. And if you’re lucky, the ice cream cart might roll by while you’re relaxing on the beach. We would happily go back tomorrow if we could. Enjoy your stay!

  Disrespectful and poorly timed up-sell attempt ruins first night of otherwise fantastic experience

  Following a long travel day and an easy check-in process, we were lead by a gentleman who we THOUGHT was taking us to our suite. NOPE! He sat us in the Rendevous Lounge and told us that our vacation package included a $200 resort credit. NOPE! He then presented us with a tacky coupon book ($10 off a bottle of premium wine, etc). We thanked him, hoping to get to lunch, and out of our cold weather clothing. "Can we go to our room now?" NOPE! He next presented us with a map of other Secrets resorts world-wide and explained that we could get a better room rate if we bought made reservations directly through him! What!?! "We have not eaten in 12 hours, Can you just take us to somewhere we can get lunch?" NOT YET!!! We were then presented with a choice of 3 services we could get for "free". Nope!!! We were tired, hungry and uncomfortable in our travel cloths, so I finally demanded to be taken to a restaurant. He mercifully ended his pitch and took us to the Seaside Grill, where we had delicious Baja Tacos. That initial interaction put a damper on our first evening and made us question our decision to visit Mexico. Fortunately, the remaining time at Secrets Akumal was magic and we WILL return. The room was beautiful, service top notch, and food was delicious and plentiful. I want to note the great service from Maria at the coffee shop who greeted me every morning with a warm smile and a delicious cappuccino!
