  Secrets Akumal April 2026 It was truly a welcome home and more memories were created for life during my birthday, our wedding anniversary and my 500 days of sobriety celebration. We were welcomed by Marco-bellmen at the front door of this exceptional 5 💎 resort and he made an incredible first impression by putting my 0% Modelo Negra in a Secrets bag where they were carefully waiting for the delivery to our guest room. We were then escorted down to the preferred lounge where we spend a lot time through out our stays. At this time we were greeted by Angel at the preferred check-in desk and discussed the possibility of staying in our previous room 2202 which was amazing for our May 2024 visit. At this time we were notified that the room would be occupied but they had carefully selected 4206 which met all our expectations and more during this stay. I was absolutely delighted to see Modelo Negra 0% and Evian Water ready after a long day of travel. Monica was our concierge in building #4 and was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our personal needs and requests were met. Antonio was our pool #1 concierge for most of our stay including the rental of our Bali bed #5. Abraham, Efren and Jose were our pool #1 and Bali bed servers. It was great to see Osuna a few times from our last visit but he was never in our area. The pool/bali bed service still continues to be an area that needs improvement especially compared to our stay at Secrets Maroma. They just can’t seem to reach that standard during both of our stays. Himitsu dining experience twice was absolutely top notch and very memorable. This stay and our previous stay Chef David has truly made a remarkable difference in our evening with the service from Ayram. Oceana meal was excellent and service once again from Ayram was much appreciated. Bordeaux dining with Arturo was very nice and the delivery and execution was great. Portofino Jazmin manager made sure we were greeted and treated with hospitality passion from start to finish. My amigo Jaime from Seaside and Chef Luis truly went above and beyond to make sure that we were always taken care of and they were a very critical and important piece of our entire stay. Max and entertainment team members were enthusiastic and positive energy that kept the guests moving and flowing throughout the day. Mario and Ivan in the preferred lounge were always ready to accommodate and happy to meet our requests each and everyday. Gabriela was always delightful and enthusiastic. We appreciate her positive energy and it was very nice to see her at the lobby bar before we left. I would like to acknowledge Raymundo and Hugo Rivero for making sure people were in place and anticipating our needs through out our stay. Mr. Santiago was the glue that kept the machine running smoothly and always doing his best to ensure our requests were met and making personal touches that truly made a difference and will strongly influence our decision to return home to Secrets Akumal soon.   Wonderful week at Secrets Akumal

  Resort was wonderful, but staff is what makes the biggest difference for us. Jose (Bldg 9A Concierge), Jose (Main Pool Concierge), Alejandro (Quiet Pool Concierge) and Henry (Quiet Pool Waiter), Felipe (Main Pool Waiter) and Perla (Massage Therapist) are deserving of special mention as they made our trip special and memorable. They all certainly deserve recognition from resort management for their professionalism, customer service focus and wonderful demeanours. Gracias por su arduro trabajo, we will be back soon.   Best Vacation Ever! Staff was 10/10!

  My wife and I took our honeymoon recently and absolutely LOVED this place. The food was amazing, entertainment was fun, resort was clean, and the best part was the staff. For us the staff was the biggest part in us having such a great experience. Whether it was Alan, Max, Oscar, Chobani, and Carlos with the activities or Abraham our poolside server. Each of them gave us special memories and were truly kind and welcoming. Our concierge Jose was fantastic and was extremely helpful with suggestions and any questions that we had. He made sure we were taken care of no matter what. If you’re looking for a vacation where the staff treats you like family, a vacation that’s relaxing, or full of activities and fun. We would recommend this one above all. There’s a reason it has the accolades it has! The restaurants were all delicious and there’s lots of options for even the pickiest of eaters. Our favorite serve was Arturo in the French restaurant. He made our honeymoon feel so special and recognized us immediately when we returned to eat there again nights later. The nightlife at the resort was also fun. The nighttime shows in the theatre were must attend for us and we enjoyed all of them. I could go on and on about this vacation. It was fantastic and we will definitely be back one day. We spoke to many other couples and they told us this is the best Secrets resort they have ever been too also.

  Fabulous All Inclusive - Secrets Akumal

  We had the opportunity to stay at this hotel for nine nights! From the first step into this hotel we were treated like kings. From the people at the front door to the person taken taking our luggage on the last day, everyone was polite, efficient and helpful. All staff was friendly and personable. The employees doing the staffing should be commended. The resort itself was lovely, the pools clean and the resort was spotless. The shows in the evening at all Secrets resorts (and we've stayed at quite a few), are not as good as before COVID. But this resort hit the mark on a couple of nights of great entertainment. There seems to be repeating themes of acrobatics with a singer and OK dancers. The shows with music form different generations would be more greatly enjoyed. Shout out to the following staff which made our vacation memorable: Diana - Check-in desk Sarah - server at Rendezvous and Theater - Always smiling and always recognized us. Balthezar - Seaside Grill Breakfast David - Portofino David - Seaside Grill Breakfast Alberto - Seaside Grill Breakfast This was our second visit here and I'm sure we will return again.

  Beautiful property, inconsistent execution

  I visited Secrets Akumal for a couples trip right before Mexican Spring Break. I'm a big fan of the Secrets brand and chose this property based on its many accolades. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the reputation. The Good The rooms are spacious and well-appointed — jacuzzi, his-and-her sinks, Le Labo toiletries, and a stocked minibar. The ocean view rooms have a plunge pool on the balcony, which is a great touch. The beach is gorgeous — white sand, swimmable thanks to the protective reef, and there's a snorkeling tour to swim with sea turtles (limited to 6 spots a day, book ahead). We also enjoyed a beachfront Balinese bed for the day with sparkling wine and waiter service, which was lovely. The spa is excellent — outdoor hydrotherapy circuit and great massages. Among the restaurants, Santorini (Greek) and Oceana (seafood — the grilled octopus is incredible) were standouts. The Bad I was offered an upgrade to a swim-out room, which sounded great. Terrible idea. At 5:45 AM sharp, a nonstop parade of room service carts starts rolling by and there goes your sleep for the rest of the morning. Avoid these rooms. The service is well-intentioned but sloppy. Bartenders made drinks wrong and argued when corrected — I literally had to Google cocktails and show them on my phone. At the pools, they default to the cheapest liquor no matter what you order. I left multiple drinks unfinished. The check-in experience for Preferred Club is nice and relaxed, but if you want decent liquor anywhere other than the Preferred lounge, good luck. Also worth noting: the bathroom area is separated from the room by a curtain, not a wall. Keep that in mind if privacy matters to you. The Ugly Bordeaux — the flagship fine dining restaurant that's supposed to be the jewel of every Secrets property. This ruined our last night. The food was bad (we had to send dishes back), and when we did, the waiter got visibly annoyed and dismissive. We barely ate and ended up ordering room service on what was supposed to be our special last evening. Unacceptable for a restaurant that's meant to be the highlight of the stay. Bottom Line Despite all the awards and accolades, I didn't see them reflected anywhere in my experience. The property has real strengths — great rooms, beautiful beach, solid spa — but the inconsistency in service and drink quality, topped off by that Bordeaux disaster, left a bad taste. Literally.
