Another Amazing Trip to Secrets Akumal. This resort is truly the best! This was our 2nd trip here and we already booked our 3rd visit. The resort grounds, beach and pools are all beautiful. The main reason we keep coming back is the resort staff and the level of service they provide. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and truly want to ensure you have the best vacation. We were pleasantly surprised to see that quite a few of our favorites were there for the 2nd trip. Every employee was fantastic but we had some standouts: Fernanda. We love her. She was our concierge on the first trip and now she is the Preferred Manager. Well deserved promotion and I hope the resort keeps recognizing her. She has such a caring attitude and we just love her. We were in building 4 and had a few concierges. They were all wonderful. Fernando, Annie and Francisco. Baltazar at Seaside was our favorite last trip and we were so happy he was still there. He has the best personality and we have so much fun chatting with him. Willem is a new favorite at Seaside as well!! Jose, Antonio and Augustin (pool and beach concierges) are so helpful, friendly and make sure you have everything you need. Favorite Servers: Hector, Felipe, Anna, Isreael, Jesus. They work so hard and have a smile the entire time! They don't miss a beat. Gabi from the spa is so friendly and helpful. If Gabi sees this we are so happy Miss Mexico won the pageant!!! Can't wait to return. This place is heaven on earth.

This review is explicitly for the Spa access with any paid spa service. I am an avid spa enthusiast. I like to book day passes to spas when I travel. I was able to go into the Spa website and book a spa day pass as a non-hotel guest, which I have done at countless other 5 star hotels. When I arrived, I was escorted around the property and told I was not allowed to be onsite even with a valid spa reservation email. What is worse, when I requested a taxi at the lobby, the security at the gates would not let our taxi leave. I felt very unsafe and told the guards I would be calling the authorities if I was not allowed to leave. This was after showing our passports and stressing we were turned away for the spa mishap. Spa enthusiasts who are looking for a day spa experience on Akumal, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

You will have to work hard to find a negative about this resort.
If I was asked how great this resort is, I could talk forever. Fantastic location, food, service, grounds, pools, beach etc. The question to ask for Secrets Akumal is, "what could be better?" All we have for an answer is: The bikes should be bookable to use throughout the day. The sportsbar should have more seating and easier viewing of the TVs for the game you're watching. Bali beds should be bookable with out a fee for Preferred Club. Hands down the best resort we've visited in 25 years of yearly trips to the Riviera Maya. We will return and our now fams of the Hyatt Resorts.

Best hotel, 100% recommend
Just wow, Secrets is easily the best hotel we’ve been to it really was the whole package. The resort is like a jungle paradise, rooms and facilities are great, the pools and beach are beautiful. The staff can’t do enough for you and are all really friendly. There’s endless food options, from an amazing, fresh breakfast buffet to a different BBQ buffet or pizza by the pool every day to 6 restaurants plus outdoor buffet options some days. Some super cool evening shows and the entertainment team are the best, putting on non stop sports and games all day by the pool and building relationships with guests. Massive shout out to our favourite “Aburrido” Alan (inside joke, he’s the complete opposite of boring!), Max, Didiel, Carlos, Andres, Ari and Andi - we had the best time around the pool every day with you all, you guys work so hard! Also to Osuna the president of the pool, Jose for his attentive pool drinks service, Karina our lovely concierge in block 9, Alejandro for a great game of blackjack and Fernando from Himitsu restaurant. Thank you Secrets, wish we could have stayed longer!

Great trip!
This resort is great, super clean with great staff! A little confusing to navigate but we liked it a lot! We appreciated Allan’s enthusiasm for volleyball and activities, Oscar was full of excitement and fun history facts at the spa, and Gil was the kindest waiter!!
