Dec 28, 2025A Week In Paradise
My husband and I went to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We had high expectations but I can honestly say that the whole experience met those & went beyond what we had expected it to be. We enjoyed everything! The restaurants were really good. We also enjoyed having lunch outside each day that it was prepared near the pools. The nightly entertainment was very nice & we looked forward to going each night. The pools and beach were also among the enjoyable daytime experiences. We did not participate in the fitness activities or the games but a lot of the guests did and looked like they really enjoyed it. Having a Concierge at our building was very convenient and extremely helpful. The room was great and the views from the balcony were fantastic! The bartenders did a great job mixing up our requests. Room service and housekeeping were good, also. The landscaping was like a luxurious jungle & quite beautiful. It was truly a week spent in paradise!!

Romantics Trip to Akumal
This was the most romantic and relaxing trip I have ever been on. The location, the property, the beach, pools … everything was incredible. The restaurants (even the marketplace buffet) were all amazing. The quality of the drinks was top tierz It was worth every penny and we will not hesitate to go back in the future.

Christmas at Akumal
This resort is absolutely stunning, the staff goes above and beyond to help make your stay so special. The whole property is spotless, it has fantastic entertainment, we had a different show every night which was a lot of fun and kept us all entertained. We had visited Secrets Maroma before and that resort blew us away so we weren't sure what to expect with Secrets Akumal, but boy was it great! Some of the people traveling with us even preferred Akumal to Maroma which I think is a big compliment to all the staff at Secrets Akumal. The Christmas Dinner, follow up dinners and lunches were all so beautifully presented - just wish the outdoor events had warmer food it was often lukewarm which is disappointing. All in all we will definitely be back to this resort. Very special thank you's to Karina our Building concierge who went above and beyond all of our expectations. Her commitment to excellence and making sure our stay was unforgettable is so appreciated! She's a gem at Secrets Akumal and should definitely get a raise for her being so amazing! More thank you's to Sergio our awesome bar tender at the pool, Ana, Santiago, Diego, one of the managers at the Market Buffet and really everyone else who works at this delightful resort. Some notes: I would say the beach at Maroma is a bit nicer than Akumal, there are many lower end resorts right next to Secrets Akumal which are family friendly and a lot of the people from those resorts come on the beach area here with their kids which kind of ruins the whole "Adults Only" vibe. Note 2: We got approached by a man named Aurelio for doing a swimming with turtles excursion, his company name is "Akumal Tours Chuy" at a decent price and we had a terrible experience. We opted for a private tour by boat and the water was so choppy and rough where we were I thought we would drown and asked them to take us back to shore. They offered to guide us by swimming instead, but even then all we saw were a few fish and nothing else - I feel like maybe this was not the season to see the turtles I'm not sure so please be aware. Also - this company does not take you into the water by the secrets hotel, they walk you all the way to the other edge of the entire shore which is sketchy all on its own.

We just returned from our second visit to Secrets Akumal in two years, and our hearts are already counting down the days until we return in 2026! This beautiful resort has become our home away from home, and we couldn't be more grateful. From the moment we arrived to celebrate our anniversary, we were greeted with those magical words: "Welcome Home familia!" Being whisked to the Preferred Lounge for check-in set the tone for an incredible week. We were offered an upgrade to the Master Romantic Oceanfront Suite (Room 2202) for four of our seven days, and it was absolutely spectacular. The room was spacious and beautiful, with breathtaking ocean views. Every morning, I watched the sunrise from our balcony while enjoying room service - pure paradise. What truly makes Secrets Akumal special isn't just the stunning location or luxurious accommodations - it's the extraordinary staff who make you feel like family every single day. Hearing "How are you family?" throughout the day fills our hearts and reminds us why we keep coming back. We want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to these amazing team members who went above and beyond: Cruz (pool waiter), Alejandro Elway (Bali bed concierge), Osuna (pool concierge), Sara (Preferred Lounge), Oziel (room service), Jose (Bali bed waiter), Metz (Building 2 concierge), Ary/Aracely (Building 9 concierge), Luis Marquez (Building 6 concierge), Sharon (pool waitress), Max (entertainment staff), and Luis (Bali bed/pool waiter). Your kindness, dedication, and incredible service make Secrets Akumal the special place it is. You treat every guest like familia, and it shows in everything you do. Pro tips for future visitors: Don't miss the Bike Tour to the Town of Akumal, and definitely book a private snorkeling excursion with Fernando Cat - swimming with the turtles was unforgettable! Also, rent a Bali bed in the front row at least one day during your visit - Alejandro and his staff will take wonderful care of you. We left last week already planning our return. Secrets Akumal has our hearts, and we can't wait to come home again. See you in 2026, familia! 💕
