Jul 28, 2025Fire alarm evac, clean room though it had a odd smell, no water for coffee. Decent stay.
Stayed at the Sandman the night of July 26. Unfortunately, there were issues with the fire alarm, and all guests had to be evacuated for an extended period while the fire department completed their checks. Kudos to them for doing their due diligence, though it was a notable inconvenience. The room was clean, though it had a strange smell that I eventually got used to. One small complaint — there was a coffee machine in the room, but no bottled water provided. That meant using bathroom tap water or buying a bottle elsewhere if you wanted coffee.

Jul 19, 2025Stayed for 8 nights as a couple. Room we were given was really clean and well maintained, as was the hotel in general from what we could see. The room was serviced really well and all the staff were helpful and polite. The hotel was busy but never experienced any noise and slept really well. Locally, there is a good Dennys that gives straightforward reasonably priced food as well as a KFC and Dairy Queen as alternatives, all basically on site. A short walk and you can find either a 7/11 or a great food store. Really enjoyed our stay and was a great base to explore the Vancouver and lower BC area.

I got a suite with a toilet that didn't work which ended up flooding multiple times and spread into the living room where the carpet was soaked with toilet water. I had to literally call a couple times and demand someone clean my room as they never did (5 days) and only cleaned once when I requested it even though I stated it when checking in. They never moved us into another suite and never dried the friggin carpet. They didn't even give a discount on the room/stay or even a damn voucher for the restaurant for the mess. That place has crappy and awful people running it with poor management who don't know how to deal with solutions and have zero customer service. Not only does management not know how to run a business, the house keepers do not know how to clean. There was even sticky gross crap in our drawers where we were to put clothes/belongings. Do not stay here. I would recommend anywhere else but there.

Awful experience with the manager on duty
The manager on duty, Justin Zhu, was literally the most unaccommodating person in sales. Air Canada messed up my trip to Brisbane and offered a hotel room at this location — which is already very far from the airport. We arrived at the hotel at 3:30am and the staff at that time suggested we ask for a late checkout in the morning, given our time of forced arrival. I did that in the morning and Justin refused to provide that to us stating “air Canada won’t pay for late checkout”. I complied with this and was waiting in the lobby when another lady who was in the exact same situation as me attended. She asked him for a late checkout to which he told her “sure no problem. I can give you 10-20 minutes”. I overheard this and told him I had asked him for that hours ago and he told me no and didn’t even offer me the 10-20 minutes he offered her. Trash service. Trash manager. Awful place.

Basic Hotel with ample parking and ease of access to highway and shops
Sandman is a 4 story hotel just north of Highway 1 (there is a Sandman Signature just south and on the other side of the highway). It doesn't have a restaurant (free coffee in the morning) but is attached to a Denny's where you can eat. The hotel is also close to restaurants around the corner as well. Two double room was okay given the price - rooms aren't too big but there is a table along the wall from which you can work at. I asked about using the business center but the meeting room itself is reserved and handled by Denny's, while there is a chair and desk in the lobby with a computer on it. Unlike the Sandman Signature, this hotel doesn't have a pool in it (some photos online show a pool but I think it's mistakenly placed as the picture is the same as that for the Signature). Parking on both sides of the hotel is ample and you just have to register your license plate for free parking. We needed a place overnight nearby so the hotel satisfied those requirements - it's mostly a no-frills lodging but otherwise quiet and good for stays in Langley.
