This was my 7th trip to Cancun and easily my worst stay. Royalton Splash Cancun, listed under the Marriott Autograph Collection, does not operate at anything close to Marriott standards. Check-in took over an hour with multiple managers involved. The front desk agent Roberto was unprofessional and dismissive (actually laughing at the situation). After finally unpacking (with two exhausted kids), we were told we were in the wrong room and had to repack and move. The “upgrade” we were given was actually worse on a lower floor, worse view, noisy, and worn. Service recovery? Weak. We were offered a cabana but had to chase down a manager multiple times just to secure it. The property itself is poorly maintained. Trash sat in our elevator for two days, even housekeeping ignored it. Our room had a broken toilet seat, lights out, worn furniture, and water with a bad smell. Internet connection issues. I was told it was my phone provider because I was in another country. Never had an issue in Mexico before and same provider. Food was just as bad. Buffet was the best bet. Indian was OK, Steakhouse inedible, Italian was good, Brazilian inedible. Reservations were hard to get, yet restaurants were half empty. Most concerning: a faulty hair dryer ripped out part of my hair. No apology. I was told to go get a replacement myself because “they will never come up with a new one”. Staffing wasn’t the issue but execution was. Plenty of employees standing around, very few actually helping. To top it off, I was told by the front desk this is “not considered a Marriott hotel.” That alone says everything. Management and accountability issue not just a one off. Far better resorts in Cancun. Shout out to a few employees that helped bring some enjoyment to our stay: Ricardo and Jesus (pool bar), Yulia (Vibe Team), Aarti (fitness) and Carlos (breakfast buffet). These team members understand hospitality!

We enjoy game up so much our kids have fun at the trampoline park and laser tag thanks to Valeria and Jose they’re great

Great service, amazing food!
Service is awesome, food was great! We just finished eating at the SMOKE BBQ restaurant for the second night in a row. We have been so impressed with the service. We have two kids with allergies, one who is celiac. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our dietary restrictions. Can’t say enough positive things! Miguel and Antonio were our servers and they were amazing. The manger was very involved and made the expeeeiwnce that much better!

Excellent service
Jeorge went out of his way to bring our son Chicken tenders when they were definitely not on the menu, we were seated promptly after a pre drink in the adjoining bar, can’t say enough good things about our experience. Food was great and the experience was just as well!
