Feb 13, 2026Great Stay at the Royalton
The resort is fantastic. The food is 10/10, we ate at the French restaurant and hands down it was the best lamb chops I‘ve ever had. The staff are so friendly and accommodating too. Shout out to Alfredo at Mai Madison, Gonzalo at the front desk and Enrique with Marriott champion for accommodating my late check out request even though the hotel was at full capacity, I truly appreciate your service. These folks have hospitality down to a Tee. So sad to be leaving but I’ll be back.

Feb 13, 2026DO NOT STAY AT THIS TERRIBLE RESORT!
DO NOT BOOK THIS TRASH HEAP!!!!! Would never recommend this resort to anyone. I’ve never been to a property more mismanaged anywhere in the world. They run a upgrade scam at arrival — we rejected the “upgrade” but it was given to us for free anyway and we were downgraded to a worse room and had to wait a day to get switched back to the proper room we paid for (the room switch left us room less for 6 hours). THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE!!!!! 95% of the food is like bad hospital food. This is the only all-inclusive where you should go if you want to lose weight. Not to mention the horrifyingly unsanitary things we witnessed take place at the buffet (tongs dropped to the floor and returned without being cleaned) and around the resort (employees not washing hands in bathrooms. Over half of our group got sick on the trip as well. Everything is run HORRIBLY. It’s impossible to get reservations at the restaurants and when you pass them, they’re often 50-90% empty. One night we tried to walk up to the Italian restaurant without a reservation bc it was 90%+ empty. We were told no walk-ins allowed until after 9:00 pm. I pointed out that the restaurant was empty and they told us if we bought a bottle of wine they could get us a reservation. Ridiculous. Our mini fridge was never restocked and for 3 days we called room service for bottles of water and made official requests at the front desk AND WE NEVER RECEIVED THE WATERS. We needed new towels on our last day and it took 3 trips to the front desk before they were delivered — they were delivered at midnight. Besides being wholly unhelpful, the front desk was mostly rude in every interaction — all interactions being requests made because of the hotel’s mistakes. We were SHOCKED to learn the property is only 3 years old — so much of it is in mediocre to bad condition. IT SMELLS!!! It smells of sewage, swamp, mold, still water, and occasionally paint. Our shower REEKED. The stairwells were akin to a prison. I cannot believe Marriott has allowed their name to be attached to this horrible property. It is an absolute embarrassment. We could NOT WAIT to leave. Avoid this place at all costs.

We went to the the Royalton splash for a week. The overall experience was disappointing. We paid extra for the diamond club but did not get the service promised. The staff looks tired, overworked and always looking for tips. Even the so called butler service is a joke, no one can communicate effectively. The first day they messed up our category,.things were missing. The second day my husband got food poisoning. The buffet is horrible. Food is left out in clay pots, meats n cheeses are displayed next to fruits. Cross contamination is very possible. The prime agents are at every corner trying to haggle you with time share just so you can get a cabana at a discount which is usually free with the previous premium resorts. We have been to Mexico 7 times. This was our worst. The staff at the french restaurant showed attitude. My husband asked him bring a premium drink with his dinner but was told that he has to go to the diamond club section and get it himself. His name was Daniel. Very Rude. The best person we saw was Antoino in room service aswell as Giuseppe. They always smiled. The best restaurant was Grazie and The again one as the food was prepared fresh. The pools were freezing. Overall it is a big resort with lots kids running around. The food needs a big improvement. No flavor or freshness. I would not recommend this resort.

Your staff has been wonderful.We have been to many all inclusives, and you guys are at the top
I would like to personally.Thank valerie at the diamond color bar.My son wasn't feeling well.Neither was I after we ate some food that did not agree with us.We were very ill the night before.She heard this at the bar.When I came to get some crackers and made me a special turn lime salt and water and that made us feel so much better.She really cared, and I really appreciated her attentiveness.She definitely should be promoted.She's one of the good ones

My 2 year old contracted salmonella.
My two year old contracted salmonella during our stay here. It’s taken me a month to process what happened during our stay at this Royalton resort and why this happened. It was so over crowded, and over booked that people had to leave the resort to eat dinner. When we arrived, 30+ people including a wedding party were horribly ill in their rooms getting IVs they were so sick. Because it was so over crowded and food was probably being recycled and food handling practices were probably non existent, MY TWO YEAR OLD CONTRACTED SALMONELLA POISONING. When we got home she spent 3 days in the hospital on IV fluids and antibiotics. I reached out to Royalton and heard no response from them. Devastated to say the least.
