READ THIS REVIEW not worth the money by a long shot
Here we go! I'll start with the good, Which is much shorter than the bad. Proximity to airport was great, short bus ride. Resort grounds were fairly nice, clean and well kept. Pools were nice as well, didn't feel overly crowded which was a nice change from other resorts. 90% of the serving and front desk staff were friendly and great to deal with. And that's all I can really compliment about this place. Now the bad. Hotel was not ready AT ALL for a busload of people to show up, we arrived at around noon with most people not getting access to rooms until 3pm and some rooms weren't ready until 6pm! Unacceptable. Front desk staff that we dealt with was obviously in training as it took my wife almost 45 mins just to check us in. And I don't mean standing in line, I mean at the desk trying to literally check in. The food in my opinion was borderline terrible, aside from the girl making omelettes in the mornings which was the only reason for my survival. I've never seen such an abysmal fruit selection with only a few pieces throughout the week being edible. Room service menu was lacking unless you want a burger or salad. We only did one of the a la carte restaurants. Was excited for the BBQ Smoke place but ribs were so heavily salted it was a huge miss on their part. Rooms were OK, could tell they hadn't swept under the beds in awhile, balcony definitely gets neglected. Others in our group had issues with the showers leaking out into the main space every time used. I understand why there are tile floors in the rooms but if you left the balcony door open at all the humidity turned each tile into a skating rink. Our toddler slipped multiple times in the room, luckily no injuries. Waterslides were fun for some but saw as many people in pain coming off them. In our group we had 2 concussions and one broken bone in foot. Could have been user error but still something to keep in mind. My least favorite thing was the centralized outdoor entertainment area. I'm in my 30's and the music was so loud and played until at least 11 every night. There was no escaping it, even in your room. This resort has ZERO places to get away from the music, like it or not it's part of every night. There were no bars open anywhere past dark except the ones up in main area so going to sit somewhere for a quiet nightcap ain't happening. Horrible design. 10% of the staff were very pushy about tipping. Even to the point of servers shoving tables and even one asking us to our face " are you gonna f&cking tip me or not"😂 no tip for you. Asked for multiple drinks by the pool only for servers to never show back up. Again 90% were great but there are a few the hotel should be kicking to the curb. Food trucks out on the grounds need to be manned better. Shouldn't have to stand in a line for 40 mins for cold fries and a undercooked pork taco. And last but not least the BRACELETS. DO NOT let them give your kids bracelets. A bunch of kids got pieces of string to tie around their wrists, these aren't the issue. They asked us if our 3 YEAR OLD would like one, we said sure seeing as other kids had the string. Well ours was apparently worth $150 usd and when we didn't turn it in at checkout ( obviously a 3 year old wants it off their wrist so we removed it mid week thinking it was just for show) we got charged and bus wouldn't leave until we paid. And MAKE SURE if your kids don't take a bracelet make them mark it down on your file as we had one family who didn't take them for their 3 kids but the hotel had it marked down that they did. $150 usd x 3 Don't waste your money here, there are FAR better options in the area.

Terrible, don't go.
We will not go back. We had a family Thanksgiving trip with 5 rooms! The hotel is dirty, hallways and many rooms smell. They constantly try to sell you stuff. We had to wait an hour at the airport for their transportation to get a van and take us there, then when we arrived we had to wait another 4 1/2 hrs to get checked it and had to listen to multiple sales pitches to sell us the Diamond Club and sell us the "free upgraded breakfast" for an hour sales pitch! The food is sub par. We made reservations for everyday there and every single day we had to argue with them to get seated even though we have confirmed reservations. Once we went to a restaurant and they ran out of all food except for a salad. Another time we went to a restaurant and ordered a meal and after an hour and a half later when the food did not arrive we left. They don't serve any food by the pools, only drinks. We were in a large group and half of us got traveler's diarrhea. One of us went to the medical clinic there, the "doctor" charged us $180 only to tell us to go to the real hospital. She did not do vitals, did not examine the patient, did not draw any labs and had very limited knowledge of a medical problem our family member had! When we booked our rooms we choose water front rooms, then after we paid for the rooms we got an email trying to upsell us to choose our room (anything from $95 to $2000)! The orange juice is not real, it was like Tang (artificial). At the steak house the appetizers were all frozen foods from Costco. If you want a good steak you have to pay an additional $35 to $50! Not a single person in our large group of eleven thought the food is okay and not a single one us will go back. Most restaurants did not have coffee as their coffee machine was broken. There is a lot of cross contamination at the buffett. Think of it as low quality food and hundreds of people eating at the same time! Yuk! We had to fight for good seats around the pool, if you arrived after 7:30 AM there were no good seats available with shade. In one of our rooms the AC did not work. We spent a day on the beach and not once did anyone come around and get our drink orders. The Diamond Club area was always full and very little available free space by the pool. If you like the smell of cheap alcohol and cigarettes then this place is for you. If you like fried frozen food from Costco and taste is not important and quality if not relevated then again this place is for you. The hotel was full of europeans and smokers. Many of the staff don't speak English. As a very long time Marriott Elite member, I feel compelled to say that this property operates with standards far below those expected of a true Marriott Autograph Collection experience. Way, way below. For the money it was a terrible deal and we will not be going back.

A lot of activities for those ages 4-15
We just returned from a 6 day trip. 7 of us total, ages 1-75yrs old. The positives: the kids loved the activities like face painting, meeting the grinch, foam parties, neon parties, airbrush tattoos and the splash pad! We loved the Italian restaurant(best service and food) and the gelato shop. The poolside servers like Angel were amazing. The mixology bar and lobby bar were the best bars to get a mojito. Other bars seemed to struggle having all of the ingredients or bartenders didn’t seem to know how to make drinks. The food in other restaurants like the Indian or Brazilian restaurant was just ok. Overall, food was 3/5. 2/7 in our party did get sick which seems to be typical whenever we go to all inclusive resorts anywhere. The beach had beautiful white sand and clear water. No algae/seaweed!!! That’s unusual for Cancun. It was easy to swim in. The resort was clean and everything was in working order. There were a few resort pets like cats and dogs. They were friendly, didn’t bother anybody and seemed to be treated well. Staff were all friendly!

Worst resort experience ever — do NOT book this hotel.
Our group of 90 people visited Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun for a wedding, and unfortunately this was one of the worst resort experiences any of us have ever had. I’ve stayed at Royalton properties three times now, and all three experiences have been disappointing — but this one was by far the worst. I will never return or recommend this resort to anyone. ⸻ SERVICE & STAFF — Absolutely Unacceptable The staff were consistently rude, dismissive, and unwilling to provide even basic customer service. Many of us were ignored when waving or signaling for assistance. The pool bar even refused to serve our bride multiple times, which is unacceptable for any guest, let alone someone celebrating a milestone event with a large group. Even worse, staff members — including a manager — openly made fun of us and spoke negatively about our group in Spanish, assuming no one would understand. Several guests in our group are fluent in Spanish and heard everything. The disrespect from management shows a complete lack of professionalism and regard for guests. We went to guest services multiple times to report issues, including widespread illness within our group. Their “solutions” were insulting — offering a bottle of champagne or mentioning a cabana “with no guarantee.” It was clear they did not care. They collect your money and treat you like you’re ignorant or irrelevant once you arrive. ⸻ CLEANLINESS, SANITATION & HEALTH ISSUES Sanitation at this resort is extremely poor. Dirty glasses, unclean food areas, and poorly prepared food — especially salads — resulted in nearly 50% of our group getting sick. More than 10 people needed hospital care, and several children contracted strep throat or severe stomach issues. The medical response was appalling: • Two families spent over $5,000 trying to get their sick babies treated. • The ambulance alone cost $900, and it was $250 just to bring a doctor to your room. • Staff would not assist unless payment was made upfront — even during emergencies. • We had to kick down the door of the “24-hour emergency medical room,” which is hidden and impossible to locate quickly in a real emergency. No one should ever feel this unsafe or unsupported while on vacation. ⸻ ROOMS & HOUSEKEEPING Our room was barely cleaned despite multiple requests. My son was sick for two days and we couldn’t leave the room, yet: • The floor was never swept • Nothing was properly sanitized • Towels were not refreshed • Garbage was left on the balcony The level of housekeeping is unacceptable for any resort that claims to be luxury. ⸻ FOOD & RESTAURANTS The food was extremely salty, lacked variety, and did not taste fresh. Reservations were impossible to get, yet restaurants were half-empty when we finally walked in. Nothing is organized properly, and the quality is far below standard. ⸻ RESORT, BEACH & AMENITIES The beach was extremely disappointing. The water was dark brown and murky, which is nothing like the beautiful turquoise beaches Cancun is known for. I’ve been to Cancun four times, and this was by far the worst beach I’ve seen. There are also crocodile warnings throughout the surrounding areas, which is unsettling for families with children. ⸻ TRANSPORTATION & OVERCHARGING Leaving the resort is another nightmare. If you want to go to the Cancun hotel zone, it costs $80 USD per person just to get from the hotel to the main road. After that, it’s another $100 USD to get to your actual destination. It’s obvious that multiple parties are getting a cut from overcharging tourists. The pricing is predatory, unreasonable, and creates a feeling of being trapped at the resort unless you pay outrageous fees. ⸻ OVERALL EXPERIENCE Not one person in our group of 90 had a positive experience. We felt helpless, ignored, overcharged, and mistreated from start to finish. Between the disrespectful staff, poor sanitation, medical dangers, and predatory transportation costs, this resort fails on every level. This is a 3-star property at best with 1-star service, 1-star cleanliness, and 0-star customer care. Save your money and choose another resort. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun was the worst travel experience we have ever had, and they have permanently lost our trust.
