  Great service and felt like family

  We had a great week. Special thank you to Romeo our butler, Estrella king of the beach and Ana the bartender at the hideaway section. Christopher gave me a few Dominican baseball stories that were great. We were treated like family the whole week. Buffet was good and had a lot of choices. We suggest you get everything freshly grilled/cooked as we didn’t have to wait and got to experience different kinds of fish. Service at the restaurants and buffet were great. Beach sand was beautiful and enjoyed the ocean. Hideaway pool was small so we stayed at the beach all week. Family pools were nice but didn’t use them. Resort was clean and always see the staff taking care of the grounds. Rooms were always clean and fridge always filled with whatever we asked.

  Beautiful Resort with Amazing Staff

  We had a great time! We were nervous about bad reviews but you should ignore them! This is a beautiful resort with awesome attentive staff. Romeo was our Butler and he was amazing!! Estrella at the hideaway beach is phenomenal!! There’s nothing he won’t do for you. Ana at the hideaway beach bar is a sweetheart! We would definitely go back.

  Not a great experience.

  Our stay at the hideaway was okay, at best. We booked this last June and when we arrived all was great, quick check in and luggage to the room was fast. Friendly people, very courteous and fun to be around. We were supposed to have a king and went to the front desk to ask about it, they said it would be 1 to 2 days before we could be moved so don't unpack. We decided to stay in the room. The ceiling fan was not working and a worker did come in, in a timely manner, checked it out and said he would be back, but he never returned. The fan did not work the entire time we were there and even with the AC going the room was very humid, so much so all of our clothes were wet when we packed for home. Resort was nice but everything opens up at 7am so no early coffee or muffins. Food was disappointing , breakfast items were just warm and no blended breakfast drinks. Didn't do much for lunch. Dinner was very disappointing. The seafood restaurant was ok, the steakhouse was the best and the Italian at the splash was descent. Also there was no lettuce to be found at the salad bar area however they had all the fixings for salad. When we checked out you were basically on your own as far watching for your bus to the airport. No attendants at the door to guide anyone for a smooth departure.

  Disappointed

  Overall we had a great two weeks and stayed in the hideaway section. However I would just like to list a few key points I wish I knew before booking this hotel. The food was extremely poor and nowhere near a 5-star standard. It was almost impossible to get bookings in the restaurants as everything had to be done through the app. When we finally managed to secure reservations, the only available times were 9pm, which was very frustrating. When dining in the restaurants, the food was often served cold and lacked flavour. Thankfully, we didn’t get unwell ourselves, but we spoke to many other guests who had experienced food poisoning. I would advise being very cautious about what you eat — I ended up sticking to very basic options. This was a huge let-down for me, as I love travelling and experiencing different restaurants and cuisines. Hideaway – Misleading Information When booking, we were under the impression that this was an adults-only hotel. However, the “Hideaway” is simply a small adults-only section within a larger family resort. It consists of a separate pool (where children are not permitted) and a block of adults-only rooms. This should be made much clearer at the time of booking, as it gives the impression that the entire hotel is adults only. Rooms & Staff The rooms were lovely and spacious. Our cleaner was wonderful and ensured the room was cleaned daily to a high standard. The Hideaway bar staff and the Vibe entertainment team were very friendly and welcoming — they were definitely a highlight of our stay. Entertainment The entertainment overall was lacking, with very little going on in the evening. Overall In my opinion, this hotel does not meet 5-star expectations and requires significant improvements, particularly regarding food quality and booking systems. Considering the high cost of the stay, I left feeling extremely disappointed.

  Overall experience

  The hotel needs to shut down for a few days and disinfect before a busy Spring Break. My whole family got sick and most other people we talked to did also. The staff didn't seem to care when we mentioned it. Also, as noted on other reviews, the dining reservation system is terrible. We ended up picking a 9:00 timeslot and then showing up at 6:30. The restaurants were never more than half full so we got in at 6:30 but the reservation system does not show any times before 9:00. On a positive note, the rooms and pools and beach are really nice. One of the best beaches I have seen for calm water and soft sand.
