#55 BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION & GIRLS TRIP
The staff was so wonderful. From the Bellman staff, Jim. To the Butlers, Shandelle, Rowan, Rae-Hannah, Nickesha. The Diamond Club front desk staff, Mandy's crew!! Brent from maintenance with his singing while he worked kept me smiling. Shantia at Hunters Steak House, the manager who was at Pescari the night we attempted to go. Diana at Pescari. Lisa and her co-worker at Insomnia coffee shop. Chef Francis for the amazing personal attention. The staff at Elements, chefs, cooks, hosts and servers/waiters. The lovely lady, my new Auntie from Jamaica, in house keeping. The staff at the spa, I didn't write down their names but they were so friendly and attentive. Hannah at the Diamond Club pool bar for the Blue drink that Michelle invented and she perfected. I'm probably forgetting some people but I can say Royalton Chic Antigua owes me NOTHING. I'll be back again.

Not so nice Caribbean ROYALTON CHIC resort
I am a titanium elite Marriott member and I know Marriott standards are well beyond this . Rooms are dirty and smell like mildew, overall resort cleanliness is an issue. Stay away from the pool view room in the backside of building one. Along the razor wire fence. Lots of garbage amongst the foliage and hallways , silverware, towels, bottles, paper etc. 20% of staff will actually acknowledge you when you walk by them. Sports bar and The Haven you feel like you’re a stranger from the wait staff . When you arrive theres a very nice greeting and a drink. They make you feel very welcome, concierge team is friendly hang on to that feeling you’ll need it for the remainder of your stay. The front desk is not friendly or flexible. This lands on the shoulders of leadership and management since they are short staffed and it feels like by choice to optimize margin dollars. They wouldn’t even grant me a two hour late checkout when they checked me in my room a half hour late. The booze is cheap and food is average. Highly recommend you spending your money at another resort or have very low expectations.

Nice Facility
The facility has the potential to be great. Staff is very friendly. Layout is nice and in a good location and kept in good shape. We read reviews and discounted most because we wanted to stay positive and everyone could find things wrong with any place. Most of the recent negative reviews were pretty accurate though. Where to start? Our room was not made up 2 of the first 3 nights. The third night, they took all of our towels and never replaced them for 18 hours. Hard to take a shower and get ready for dinner after a beach day. Air conditioning is very good and cold and building one was quiet. They run out of everything at times, no coke, diet coke, beer, certain liquors, many entrees not available, the coffee shop runs out of ice cream and some drinks on and on. It seems like they have enough staff at bars and restaurants but are poorly managed with long waiting times. There will be a couple bar tenders on one side of a bar and never go to the other side. Happens at the pool bar a lot. No one seems to run for ice, and restocking. Not sure why someone isn’t responsible for glasses and washing them but having bar tenders do some of the small things seems crazy and slows things down. Beware if you want to spend time at the beach, the southern end of the property gets overrun by people from cruise ships and the days they are in port. All beaches in Antigua are public, so when the cruise ships are in, the port is closest to the Sandals/CHIC Royalton beach and water taxis run hundreds of people over. They take over everything and even the security guards don't keep them off the resort chairs. Pools are pretty clean and towels are readily available. Don't waste your time and money going to Pescari overwater restaurant. It's billed as a seafood place but only has shrimp and some sushi. There are no fish entrées on the menu. Minimum $80/person to start. We spent $235 for shrimp and beef skewers and two drinks. Once again, they were out of two of their entrees. It's a great setting but way overpriced. They try to do some entertainment out there but it’s not really necessary. If you don't mind making a reservation every night, then the restaurants are good but otherwise, you'll be at the buffet. The pool area “food truck” makes great burgers but be prepared to wait. The diamond club butlers jump in front of the line and that creates some delays for the rest of guests. The Spa was fantastic! The hydrotherapy and massages are great. Probably the highlight of the facility. The “VIBE” Team does a good job, and the nightly entertainment is pretty good. Some fun activities but the sports bar is small and dark. Not many people go in there and if it wasn’t a NFL playoff weekend and College Football National Championship game doubt anyone would go in there. It holds about 40 people. After the 9:30pm shows it’s pretty slow. Most bars except the Taboo bar and Sports bar close at 5:30pm. We didn't do the Diamond club because it seems like a waste of money. Antigua is nice and we did a few excursions. As far as the island goes, it’s pretty typical of most Caribbean islands. We travel a lot and as a Marriot Bonvoy Elite member, we weren’t impressed. We wouldn't go back but rarely go back to any place we've been but, in this case, wouldn't recommend it.

Caregiver Getaway
This was my annual "Caregiver Getaway," which I usually do in Mexico since It is more convenient from Seattle. I am glad I mixed it up this year to try CHIC. This is a beautiful all-inclusive resort on a spectacular beach. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Kenryca in Elements buffet was amazing! She was always bustling to help people, and I looked forward to starting every day with her contagious smile. Raylene in Housekeeping was another bright spot, but really all the staff did a great job. As an old guy, I was a bit concerned about the focus of this being a party place. It was definitely lively and fun, but I did not feel that it was over the top. Although not 5-star dining, all of the restaurants were very good.
- AdvisoryWe are thrilled to share the exciting news that the Overwater Suites are now open for bookings. These suites, set to be unveiled in September 2024, will offer a unique and luxurious escape for our mutual guests, blending sophistication with the Royalton CHIC Resorts’ signature ‘Party Your Way’ concept.
