This resort was a complete disappointment. Definitely not reflective of a Marriott property. The check in was smooth. Our room was ok. A bit dated but no big deal. It had a lovely view. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful. Our housekeeping was good. Housekeeper was lovely, always had a smile and our room was mostly kept up with towels and such. Our butlers were good. We booked Diamond level. The food at this resort is awful. Always a shortage of menu items and food was cafeteria grade at best. We were a party of 4 and 3 of us ended up with food poisoning. One was selective about eating meat and managed to avoid GI issues. Sick half of the week of the stay. The room and thermostat is very hard to manage and the room was freezing the whole week. It is not worth opening the patio door as the humidity made everything feel wet and nothing dries. The weather was beautiful and warm each day. The beach is beautiful. The entertainment is ok. Lobby area and bar not great to hang out after dinner. We mostly retreated to our rooms as we were sick with GI issues. We met others who were suffering the same fate. I made staff members aware of the situation but I am not sure it was taken seriously. Staff is mostly miserable and this resort did have some of the worse service I have ever personally encountered. An example would be seated at breakfast for buffet and never having anyone show up to bring coffee/water/juice. I am not one to leave negative reviews. I travel 10+ times a year. Always have a smile for people and understand that these jobs are difficult but this was beyond what I could ever have imagined. This is not a cheap resort. There are many options that would be better. The Management here needs to improve the staff/ food hygiene situation. This was my second trip to Antigua and my previous visit at The Veranda was awesome. Our stay was March 17-24th. I have never been so happy to arrive home. 3 members of our party is now feeling well. One is still on antibiotics and just starting to feel better. This is not the place you want to spend your vacation time. You deserve better!

Not as expected
We had a girls trip at this resort and our stay had some great highlights, but unfortunately, there were several issues that significantly impacted the overall experience. We had 2 rooms and upgraded to the Diamond Club. Our room butlers were very attentive, friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Our rooms had 2 double beds – one of which was supposed to include a pull-out couch or rollaway bed upon check-in (our butlers promptly had a rollaway bed brought to the room). The room included a bottle of vodka, bottle of wine, beer, juices, chips, M&Ms. Unfortunately, our air conditioning worked too well and our room was pretty cold – we had to turn off the air conditioning at night just to sleep comfortably. Cleanliness and maintenance were a concern – we saw roaches in the bathroom, dealt with a moldy smell, and had a leaky shower. These issues made the room feel less comfortable than it should have been. The resort grounds were beautiful and very well-maintained, which made walking around and spending time outdoors really enjoyable. The coffee café (which also served ice cream) also consistently stood out with excellent service and quickly became one of our favorite spots. Hunter’s steakhouse restaurant also had excellent service and great food. The resort had nightly entertainment and the Vibe Team was particularly impressive with their dancing and helped create a fun atmosphere during their shows. That said, there were some major downsides. A recurring issue was the attitude of several waitstaff and bartenders, who often came across as rude or inconvenienced when we ordered drinks. The resort frequently ran out of common options like piña coladas, daquiris, and Aperol, which was extremely disappointing for an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean! Service inconsistencies extended to other areas as well. At The Score restaurant, we waited over an hour just to be asked for drinks - even though the restaurant was only half full. At the outside bars, we saw used glasses not being washed before serving another drink to a different customer. There was also no poolside service available, so we had to leave our lounge chairs frequently for food and drinks. Interestingly, the service was excellent on the one day we rented a cabana (for an additional cost). The food offerings by the pool also felt a bit odd, with heavier items like pasta and shrimp being served instead of lighter, more typical poolside snacks. Even though there were some positives to our stay, the issues with service, cleanliness, and consistency made this a mixed experience. We most likely not return to this resort.

Go elsewhere
Location was good as there was beach and jet ski and catamaran rentals. However the resort itself was like a strip mall with poor dining experience. Food was bad, drinks were bad, and employees weren’t kind. The only reason this is 2 star instead of 1 is because the local lobster shack was on beach was amazing and hike was cool with good view. The worst part was the check out experience. Had my dates and names messed up and charged me the wrong amount and said I did 5 spa services which was false. You can stay at far better resorts for less money and easier travel.

Autograph collection??
Very disappointed with the service. Not very friendly, the food left much to be desired. No vegetarian options. Bathroom had mold & mildew, found a roach in the bathroom. Mosquitoes & flies. Surprised Marriott Bonvoy has endorsed this place.
