Great mom:daughter trip
Beautiful stay. ONLY thing I think k could be improved upon, & I’m not sure how, but people save pool and beach chairs so it’s hard to find loungers by pool area, or loungers close to the ocean.

Excellent vacation before Christmas
I would like to express my appreciation to all staff at Riu Tequila. Everything is wonderful because of the friendly and hardworking staff. The staff is really polite and they always go the extra mile to help customers. The room, beach, pool, and restaurant were all wonderful. Sleep Quality is the only problem. People go to sleep at 2AM and make noise. It's not the hotel's fault, but you should go somewhere else if you want to reset in a quiet place. Apart from that, the Riu Tequila is the best, and I will definitely return to any RIU hotel in the future.

Riu Tequila, did it match our expectations
We have now spent a week in Riu Tequila and here are our thoughts, pros and cons. Pros Hotel grounds are well maintained and really lush&green. Agoutis and Coatis are really nice to watch and you are able to see them everyday. Buffet is generally good and you never leave hungry even if you are vegetarian. They have every night some theme and for example risottos and the fish tacos were really good. Entertainment: good almost every night. Neon party was a blast and well done. Housekeeping: really efficient and done from 8.00AM onwards if you just let them do it. We appreciate this since we are usually out by 8 to 9AM and back until mid afternoon. Staff is generally polite but not all of them. It could be because of all the hard work they do year around (hotel is open all year) They are working really hard and all of them are courteous except few and especially a man who works in Bamboo ”a la carte” restaurant, more in cons below Cons We went to Bamboo Asian restaurant on 19th december and he was at the door welcoming guests. Not really welcoming… we stepped in and he told us to take that table, no welcome etc, only stone faced man dressed in black outfit who was really cold. I asked him that if we could have another table since the one ”take that” table was right next to busy entrance. He replied with a tone that got me astonished ”TAKE THAT TABLE” So, we obeyed and a waiter came around and asked politely what we would like to have to drink. We ordered wine, then I asked for a menu. He told me, no menu, this is a buffet style restaurant. I have to say that this is the first ever a la carte restaurant without a la carte!!! We had our appetizers and left. Other mention, I have to say is the hotel’s (self rated) 5-star classification is a miss. No, this property is not a ***** property. Closer to *** or maximum ***+ Four (so called) a la carte restaurants are not up to a standard of any a la cartes we have experinced in other AI resorts. Bamboo is totally a buffet style dining, Italian Rinacita has only the main course served to the table. Black Cow steak house is the only place where you are served your meal from start to finish. Black cow was in my opinion close to a decent dinner experince, however very noisy and really rushed service there. The one by the beach we did not try since it looked like a mess just by passing by. All together Riu Tequila is a nice AI hotel if you are not seeking for a peaceful holiday and don't mind mid level services. Are we coming back in the future. Not very likely

A memorable stay at the beautiful resort of RIU Tequila
My honest review about RIU Tequila. We stayed in this resort from Dec 10 to Dec 17, 2024. Our trip was done by Sunwing from Montreal, Canada, to Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Mexico. 1. Beautiful area inside the resort, including woods, buildings, and Christmas decorations. There are 5 pools, including one pool bar, one kids pool, one big pool, and two smaller ones that give you multiple options for choosing a pool. 2. All 4 restaurants, including Italian, Asian (Bamboo), Mexican, and Steakhouse, serve you almost high-quality and delicious cuisines. 3. The buffet is full of various foods, beverages, fruits, and some desserts and ice creams for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also make a few changes in the menu for each meal. 4. There is one mini grill restaurant near the pools that cooks some foods and provides salads and fruits. 5. There are 5 bars, including 2 interior bars, one sport bar, one pool bar, and one beach bar. All serve different hot, cold, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages. 6. All staff, bartenders, waiters, waitresses, and housekeepers are friendly, kind, and polite. 7. There are many entertaining activities like parties, live concerts, silent concerts, karaoke, kids activities, bingo, volleyball, ping pong, water polo, and beach volleyball. 8. The beach is white, soft, and sandy with lots of beach chairs and beautiful palm trees. 9. The room is very clean on the check-in day, and it is cleaned every day without worry. There are some bottles of wine in the room, but since we do not drink alcohol, I do not have any idea about the taste or quality. The fridge is full of drinks and water. In general, our first experience with this resort was excellent, and we may choose it for future trips to Mexico, Cancun. We always choose adult-only resorts because we're afraid of kids making noise and running around, but this time, although the resort was crowded, it's a large resort, and people are less likely to disturb each other. I would especially like to thank the staff and everyone who works tirelessly at this resort and is so kind and friendly to the guests.
