  Robbed!

  I’ve stayed at Hotel Riu Reggae multiple times and never had an issue until this most recent visit. After checkout, I was charged $315 for pillows and blankets following an incident where I became ill overnight. While I understand that damages can happen, I was surprised by both the amount and the lack of transparency. When I requested a breakdown, I was told that the comforter alone was $200, which seemed excessive and was not supported by any receipts or clear justification. The overall charge felt arbitrary rather than based on real replacement costs. I reached out multiple times to resolve this directly but did not receive a meaningful resolution. As a repeat guest, this was especially disappointing. The resort itself is nice, but this experience has left a negative impression and raises concerns about how charges like this are determined and handled.

  Brilliant week at the Riu Reggae!

  Had a brilliant week at the Riu Reggae as a group of 4 friends. Hotel was spotless, facilities great and the food and drinks excellent. All the staff were all great, welcoming and friendly from beginning to end. The animation team work so hard to ensure everyone has a great holiday. The evening shows and daytime entertainment was excellent. Special mention for Bubbles and Ariel who kept us well entertained! We spent a lot of time at the Margarita poll bar. It’s a little bit more chilled than the main pool bar, cocktails were excellent and served up by Delroy, the best barman in Montego Bay 🇯🇲 Wouldn’t hesitate to go back!

  A wonderful experience - we would come back here.

  This was a great experience. I really enjoyed this hotel and would come back. I've been to the Caribbean before and stayed at other resorts (Hilton/Dreams, Secrets, Sandals, etc.) so I wasn't too sure how this one would compare. I had very few things about this hotel that I thought needed improving. The beds/pillows weren't the comfiest, but it was acceptable for the stay. The sheets were very thin, and I wish they had better options, but again it was acceptable. Housekeeping always did a great job daily. The check-in process was easy, and navigating the resort itself was easy to do. Being at the Riu Reggae also gave us access to the Riu Montego Bay location which was a great plus, it was a short 5 min walk away. You also can access to all their nightlife and breakfast and lunch options. It was also an adults only resort. The Riu also has an App which made it extremely easy to see the activities schedule at both locations and make reservations at the a la carte restaurants (which I recommend doing as soon so you check-in). The food at all restaurants did not disappoint, as well as the Jerk Hut. I liked that there were options (salads, pastas, meats, seafoods, etc.). And as someone who is from Toronto and loves Carib food - the options at this resort did not disappoint. The buffet had oxtail, festival, dumplings, curries, etc. on constant rotation at the Jamaican station. However, there is NO room service. The resort itself was kept clean and kept. The lobby had a 24-hour bar and a snack bar beside it that was open pretty late. The beach and pools were reset/cleaned daily so you go in the morning to a fresh space. There was always lots of seating by both pools and the beach, and each pool had their own bar. The beach itself was beautiful; I stayed more there than by the pools. One of the best things about this resort was the service. We always got great service from the servers and bartenders – 10/10 the entire time. The service was always quick and efficient, and we were still able to feel like we weren’t just another guest they were helping out. The entertainment team was amazing. This is the first resort I’ve stayed at where the entertainment team walked the resort at 10am every morning to do their rounds of “good mornings” around the beach and breakfast resto – it was a really sweet touch. The shows they put on were FANTASTIC. They also ran fun activities by the pool during the days and evenings. The Evolution of Jamaica and Beach Bash were my favourites. While this resort may have a “party” reputation, its worthy to note that the resort is big enough that if you want quiet time, there are lots of spaces for that. But if you want an exciting party vibe, that is also available – at the Riu Reggae, or at Riu Montego Bay. There are free and paid water excursions right from the beach. We did the paid snorkeling catamaran and it was an organized and fun experience. Lastly to note, the service at this place is great and the staff do not press you for tips at all. But they really do deserve it - so tip as much as you can, if you can! I truly hope management appreciate the great staff they have. All in all, we had a great time. We would recommend this place to others and would come to this resort again!

  Excellent hotel.

  The food was excellent. The beach was amazing and the staff are the friendliest I’ve come across. A massive shout out to Omar from the entertainment team. Always there to help out and answer any questions we had. Will definitely be coming back

  DO NOT LISTEN TO NEGATIVE REVIEWS

  The hotel completely exceeded my expectations — everything was clean, comfortable, and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful, and nothing felt like too much trouble. I genuinely can’t fault the place. It ended up being a fantastic stay and I’d happily return again. If you’re on the fence because of mixed reviews like I was, I’d definitely say give it a chance. All the staff here are absolutely amazing and really made the stay special. A big shout out to Tasheen at the sports bar who was always so friendly and welcoming, and Aiden from the lunchtime shift who was brilliant as well. (I ate a magic gummy 🍁 and ate half the buffet and when I tell you this young man looked proud of me, made my day hahahha Every single member of the entertainment team was fantastic — they brought such great energy and made every day fun. A special mention to Bubbles, you were amazing and truly stood out. The whole team works so hard to make sure guests have a great time and it really shows Also a big shout out to Christina from the restaurant, I hope you enjoyed your 2 weeks off with your daughter ❤️ Also demor at the steak house- lovely lad and very friendly!! Keemer from reception was abit difficult, we was struggling to book any of the dinner reservations and when we approached him he was hesitant to help at first and just kept saying do it from the app which I understand but the app wasn’t working. He could have done abit more to help from the start and dropped the attitude a bit but we got there in the end!! The buffet was great with lots of variety, so there’s always something for everyone. There was plenty of choice at every meal and you’ll definitely never go hungry here. The food was nice, fresh, and constantly being topped up. It made mealtimes really easy because there was always something different to try. I have 0 complaints about this hotel and I had the best time here so Thankyou for making it such an enjoyable experience and I would definitely be back. The ONLY NEGATIVE I have is the minute you step off the resort people will hound you for money, this was getting so frustrating- don’t get me wrong your very safe so don’t listen to people that say you aren’t but just anyone you meet they’ll as you for “a little something to bless them” we got a shuttle from the hotel to the shopping centre across the road and even the shuttle driver said “maybe you can make my day better” obviously hinting we gave him a tip which we was going to do so anyway but it’s abit of a put off! I understand the wage is low here but they think English people are made of money and everyone seemed to want something!! Anyway, enjoy your holiday in this beautiful hotel you will not be disappointed ☀️ Thankyou to every single member of staff at the Rui reggea
