Be Allergy Aware
I am currently staying at The Gresham, Dublin. Overnight stay for 1 adult and 1 child 9/2/26-10/2/26. Upon arrival I was asked for payment for the room. My husband had booked the hotel as Christmas Surprise for my daughter and had put a credit card on file. That apparently was not good enough and a physical card had to be seen. That was not a problem however, that should be explained upon booking. My daughter and I went to the bar to have dinner. The children's menu had an allergy list and I asked the server to confirm that the chicken strips were egg free as it stated on the menu that no egg was contained. The server asked why and I explained that my daughter was allergic to egg. The server then asked how bad she was and I explained she was an Epi-Pen user. The server went to the kitchen and informed us upon her return that they could not guarantee that they were egg free as they were bought in! I question then why it states it on an allergy menu??? I then asked could they make her a grilled chicken breast and chips? The server went away again and came back to tell us that the kitchen could not provide this as they did not have any chicken breasts and the chef recommended that a 10 year old girl looks at the main menu. I asked what could she have off that menu and the only food they could guarantee was spicy chicken wings!!!! The server also said that breakfast in the morning would also be problematic. My daughter was in tears at this point. We left the bar and went to our room in order to get our coats to find somewhere else to eat. Upon leaving I went to the reception area and asked was it ok to bring food into the hotel. I was asked why and I explained to the staff member what had happened. No apology was made to us and I was informed that in this instance that would be fine. I then enquired about breakfast to which the receptionist could not give me an answer and stated that they cater for vegans. I explained that my daughter is NOT a vegan and has a life threatening allergy. I am truly disgusted that a hotel of this calibre cannot cater for allergies! Even though you have an allergy menu.

Fabulous Hotel
Excellent central location. Staff very attentive. Really good breakfast. Choices good too. Rooms were very spacious and well stocked. It was a birthday trip and on arriving back to our room I was greeted with cake! A lovely surprise. Very grateful to the staff member who hailed a taxi for us and helped with our luggage when leaving for the airport.

Riu Dublin
What a hotel..modern with charm. Located right in the heart of Dublin City - all areas are walkable. The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were great, helpful and polite: concierge lads, reception staff, bar staff ( great to talk to staff who were enthusiastic and knowledgable on Rums) and the duty manager(?) the young guy who brought me my Riu products to my room - excellent!! Prices at the hotel are good : room rates, food, drinks. Buffet breakfast at the Riu was better than what we paid for in Temple area. It’s a hotel I definitely recommend. I’m back there in March.

Great team.
Centrally located hotel. Very friendly and excellent staff. Such a fantastic range of foods for breakfast which was well organised even when busy. Bed is the best hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. I’m also a wheelchair user and nothing was too much trouble for the team there. Many many thanks for an incredible stay.
