    A Great Hotel

    Riu Plaza Espana is a great hotel, especially the rooftop terrace which gives a great view over the town. The hotel staff are very polite, helpful & friendly. It’s spotless clean & the service & food are faultless. Everything runs smoothly considering it’s a big hotel & full when we were staying here. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

    It’s okay

    The Riu Plaza España is in a great location, close to everything, and I’ve stayed there a couple of times. However, for some reason, I never seem to get a good night’s sleep. I’m not sure if it’s the beds, the room temperature, or something else. At first, I thought it might be jet lag, but it only happens when I stay at this hotel. They also tend to assign me small twin beds, which may be part of the issue. Everywhere else I’ve stayed has been much more comfortable. The hotel often hosts conferences, so you may have to wait a bit for the elevators during busy times. Customer service is inconsistent—sometimes good, sometimes not. That said, the rooftop is a highlight and definitely worth visiting if you’re staying there. Overall, I would only stay here again if I absolutely had to.

    Short break in Madrid

    Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Extremely comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Easy to walk to all the main sites of madrid. Helpful friendly staff 👌

    Very bad

    They make you pay 10€ to go to the rooftop, but they force you make the cue to go downstairs with the elevator. They do not allow you to go down through the stairs. 10€!

    March 2026 - 5 nights in Madrid

    Stayed for 5 nights in March 2026. Modern hotel, clean room/ bath and excellent location. Breakfast menu was great and overall great staff and service.
