Not a place we will return to.
Initially we were really impressed with all aspects of the hotel until my wife had a fall in the bedroom with the ridiculous steps that are needed to navigate in the pitch dark to the bathroom. Lights cannot be left on in the bathroom as the bathroom wall is glass, a sensor in the side wall just above the step senses movement as you approach the steps but only turns on a discrete light set into the wall just above the step itself. The sensor is only partially effective if approached from the side of the bed, as at least one of you would have to do, as you are already at the step before you see it. The step themself is quite narrow, being only a small amount larger than my foot print leaving no room for error. In our case it ended up with my wife in A&E at 4 in the morning with concussion and having a brain scan. When we returned to the hotel the night manager was very concerned, he assured me a report had been raised and offered to send us breakfast to our room. After that the hotel behaved as if nothing had happened, we had no phone call, no visit, no inspection of the lights - I think they followed the principle of least said the better so they could not be held responsible. We will never occupy a room again with stairs to the bathroom, its a ridiculous concept and as this hotel is quite new it is purely for cosmetic affect and utterly unnecessary. The swimming pool whilst one of the larger ones is in such poor condition that if you don't break a toe on the incorrectly fitted hexagon head bolts that have replaced the domed screws then your likely to lose skin on all the broken or badly replaced tiles.

Winter sun
This was our third time visiting for a winter break. Perfect location, superb hotel and friendly helpful staff. Excellent as always and we look forward to returning.

An oasis
Honestly cannot fault this incredible place! The food, (1/2 board was the best decision), the cleanliness, the helpful staff (particularly on Reception), the pools, the proximity to the beach and nightlife, the rooms and the wonderful chambermaids who work hard to ensure that guests have clean towels and topped-up tea facilities. The calm of this hotel is wonderful. It's a strange quirk to charge for daily use of the room safe and there are no bottles of water in the rooms if not paid for BUT, this was my 2nd visit and I just cannot wait to return!

Preferential treatment to certain clients
Hotel set in beautiful surroundings but difficult to find areas where full sun will be present due to the vast amount of palm trees. Sunbeds - absolutely awful, basic cheap style sunbed with no padded cushions available. Standard size rooms with overgrown palm tree trees on balcony. No extra toiletries in room - shower cap etc basic shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand/body lotion only. Cheap towels both in room and poolside. Car parking on the small size for the amount of guests. Worst of all- preferential treatment for certain guests who have “long term stays” Disabled badges placed on dinner tables reserved for them, these people NOT DISABLED 2 hours being an empty table every night even though people with genuine walking difficulties informed deliberately by the waiters that they cannot sit at the table! Obviously they are being tipped to have this service? Food very good but everything murdered with salt and desserts same every night but cakes in different colours. No specialty desserts.

Still a great hotel
We stayed here last year and loved the hotel for its position close to the beach and the promenade. We had a swim up room which is great. Food is very good, although my husband hates buffets! The choice at this buffet is varied and great. Two speciality restaurants at no extra charge are very good. Live music each night with the Dukes Band being cream of the crop. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we repeated our trip this year. We again had a swim up room. We enjoyed ourselves just as much. The only thing we did not like as much was some of the entertainment, especially on our final two nights when the Avenida band didn’t turn up on the Saturday and there was an operatic offering on the Sunday which is not for us!! Dukes Band were just as brilliant as last year however. The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. We were unlucky with the weather on our second week which was a shame.
