November 2024
We stayed at hotel at the end of November. The hotel was clean and silent. Food was good and staff was nice. The location of the hotel is excellent. Only thing that I have complains is the pools. They are alla only 110 cm deep. So they are not so good for swimming. But they are pretty good to hang around.

Great hotel
Fantastic hotel. Beautiful grounds. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Excellent choice of food. Good service. Very thoughtful management- evenings got chilled, so blankets and patio heaters came out. The pools were lovely. Attentive and helpful staff. Will be going again !

Don't let looks be deceiving!
Booked for a week in the sun for my birthday. Never been to a RIU hotel and booked through Tui as one of their Platinum 5T holidays . Sadly this holiday did not have the luxury promised. The grounds are very picturesque with excellent immediate access to the beach. The service was good but impersonal and in the restaurant was rushed. The room was large and well appointed though for the supposed luxury we should have been given water and a safe at no extra charge. However it was very gloomy and needed the lights on all the time as a palm tree blocked all the light. There were so many palm trees around the gardens and pools that they blocked the sun. Fortunately we booked only bed and breakfast as the food was a big disappointment.... largely processed and not anywhere near the standard it should have been. Eggs always overcooked and on two days a whole tray of bread that was put out was stale... huge choice but 'cheap, processed and geared towards the largely German clientele. We had intended eating in one of the restaurants a couple of nights but breakfast quality put us off and there are several excellent restaurants locally if you do your research. To add insult to injury we were both bitten several times by mosquitoes in the complex..something someone else mentioned..A member of staff did seem to be spraying in one of the main corridors for some reason one day...maybe to control them? All in all for the price point the hotel was a bit of a let down and we won't be considering Riu in future.

EXCELLENT
My wife and I spent a very pleasant 10 days at this 5 star rated international (principally German guests? ) hotel and found it to be excellent. It has a magnificent layout in a truly spectacular setting just parallel to a wonderful beach. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and are fantastically well maintained. The bars and restaurants are really good and the amazing array of palm trees encompassing the hotel are a visual delight. There was no daytime entertainment and the evening entertainment during our stay was very hit or miss, however, 'Frequencies', a vocal act live each Monday, were absolutely fabulous. Really an highlight and a must not miss. Our room was fabulous and the bathroom with its spacious walk in waterfall shower was absolutely wonderful. Additionally the hotel staff were charming, efficient and very friendly. However, despite all it's many pluses, I personally wouldn't give it more than a 4 out of 5 rating. Why? Well firstly, despite the significant cost of staying there, we were still only half board and not all inclusive (OK we knew that when we booked but it's still a valid point bearing in mind the cost) . Secondly, I really don't think a 5 star hotel should charge its quests for the use of their rooms internal safe or even for a bottle of water in the restaurants at meal times. Thirdly, while the pool areas with their magnificent palm trees everywhere are a real picture, as a day progresses sun lovers like me were regularly shaded and it can be annoying to constantly chase the sun to where it avoids the trees. One final thing, given the fact that it's a 5 star hotel, the pool side sunbeds are particularly uncomfortable and were not supplied with any real sort of padding to help provide comfort. So, all in all, would I stay again? In this particular area of Maspalomas, yes. It's quiet but delightful. In this precise hotel, probably no, and primarily because, in my opinion, the significant cost of staying did not justify the positives when taking into account the negative points I've raised.
