  Fun fantastic time

  Such a fun time. Up top I have to shout out the entertainment staff. Miguel, Samantha, Jessica, Alex, Damian—all of them made the trip so special. They all had such great energy and kept us moving and doing all day. We spent most days at the activities pool with them and they definitely kept us active! Also props to July at the pool bar and Ernesto at the terrace bar, yall are fantastic. My husband and I were here for seven days and just got to completely relax and kick back. The food is some of the best all inclusive we’ve had and the daily grill by the pool is a nice touch. All the dinner restaurants are seated first come first served but so what if you have to wait, go grab a cocktail and stare at the ocean! The accommodations do feel a little dated style-wise but it kind of gives the place character that your standard “all white and clean lines” spots lose? The AC was strong which was great too. One note is the keycard system. The cards get demagnetized really easily. We’ve been to other resorts where there’s a chip in your wristband that opens your door, maybe that’s a thought? The resort is small, feels more like a hotel so there is at least a giant RIU next door if you like to explore. This seems to be the resort and destination of choice for Midwesterners. Like 80% of the other guests hailed from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Idaho, etc. Interesting quirk. Hailing from the east coast turned us into minor celebrities.

  Vacation with friends celebrating our 50th!

  We love this resort, this is our 10th time here..always amazing. The service and food is outstanding! Miguel is our favorite entertainer and Wilbur our favorite bartender/server by the pool, Abu and Paula in the art deco lounge is such a funny and sweet bartender, Ernesto in the theater room bar is amazing as well. Edar is one of our favorite wait staff,always the best service and makes us feel welcome and special. Too many great people working at this resort to mention them all, we can't wait to come back again.

  Great hotel in a lovely location...

  Great hotel in a lovely location. Good check in experience and given room very close together after emailing the hotel although they weren’t adjacent as requested. The rooms are lovely nice and clean and ample room if a little dated but in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The food was of good quality and the dining room like the rest of the hotel very clean. One of the speciality restaurants did take a little extra effort to book but food was great. The pool areas were good and clean with plenty of sunbeds available although you do have to be up early to get a great choice of sunbeds around the pool. There are two pool areas and I would say the one by the hotel exit to be quiet and the other one lively with music and entertainment throughout the day. Evening entertainment was either great or ok but did have a live band every night. the biggest downfall in the hotel is lack of toilets, with one set to the right of check in desks and one set by the lively pool. Cleaners work tirelessly all day and evening keeping the place clean and tidy. We were there for Valentines Day and I must say it was disappointing from loud and brash small group of Americans who made their presence felt throughout our holiday, to a lack of appropriate gifts, food and entertainment. The bar service by the pools was good as was the bar service around the bar area. Overall, a good place to stay.

  Second visit - what’s changed?

  Well, I wrote a lengthy review after our visit in February 2025, so I’ll write a shorter one this year. My favourite things about this hotel are: 1. The superb staff 2. It never feels a big hotel even though it’s pretty big. 3. It is spotlessly clean. Learning our lesson from a year ago we stayed in a sea view room (414) and it was better than overlooking the laundry round the back. Much better. We took advantage of the balcony many times in the evenings and mornings with a coffee. So peaceful and beautiful. All the things that were good last year still are. My only feedback to the hotel would be regarding the menus at the restaurants and the quality of the beef they buy in. The menus in the restaurants haven’t changed. At all. In a year or more. That’s so poor. Disappointing. I can easily understand not changing them weekly or monthly form the volume they cater for, but annually? Come on now. That’s just lazy. The food is still fine but not great. The Japanese is by far the best, followed by Krystal (European) and the splendid buffet restaurant (where breakfast especially remains a highlight). This visit we managed to get a table at Black & White which is the steak restaurant. The ribeye we had was a long, long, long way off the standard I would expect at a hotel costing customers this much money and billing itself as five star. More gristle and fat than meat and their idea of rare/medium differs wildly from mine. Do better please. I love this place. We’ve had 2 brilliant holidays here. But I’m now thinking that for the price - we booked with TUI and had Premium Economy flights - I can have an equally good holiday, with more reliable weather and better food for at least a couple of grand less. I expect we will go back at some point, but the lack for progression, improvement, and variety really disappointed me this time around. A shame.

  Great Location, Excellent Food

  Stayed February 5–19, 2026 We had a wonderful stay at Riu Palace Las Américas. The food was excellent throughout our trip, and the beach was beautiful with clear, calm water—great for swimming and relaxing. Our room was spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. This resort definitely caters more to couples and adults looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. There was some partying in the bigger pool, however there were 2 other quieter pools. The nightly entertainment was on the lighter side, but if you’re looking for something more lively, Riu Cancun is just a short walk away and offers a much more energetic nightlife.
