Booked this trip last minute to join a group of 37. We attempted to upgrade at check in and they were all sold out so we didn't get to experience the privilege side. I ate well here even though I am not a "foodie." My favorite restaurant was the Mexican one. We enjoyed the pool area with the swim up bar. The beach area was okay. There is small area off to the side for us to indulge in our cigars. There was not a party area at this hotel, but we had to walk through the neighboring Riu property that had the RIU party and nightclub. I loved the large courtyard over there, but the bar area was horrible. It was on the cooler side for Mexico but our views were outstanding. No one really stood out during my stay. The drinks were just ok. I really love RIU for a quick get away and this location was ok, but just ok!

Great stay
We spent 4days and it was such a relaxing time. The resort was very clean, the staff was exceptional and friendly. Upgrade to Elite, the rooms are spacious and a great view. The swim up bar got a little crazy but the staff handles it very well. You can get reservations at the restaurants with Elite level. We enjoyed the Italian and Mexican restaurants. We will come back. It’s a good price point and would be a great getaway with a group or couples only

Great Food, Wonderful Service, Underrated
The mid reviews of the Riu Baja Palace had me a bit nervous, but the trip itself was flawless. This place has the best food of any all inclusive I’ve ever been to. While music can be loud and atmosphere can be party oriented, we never heard a thing from our room. We stayed an in OceanFront Elite suite and would definitely recommend the splurge of any room class in the Elite Club. The views were spectacular. The people, from the from desk, to the servers, to housekeeping, to the events staff were always kind, efficient, and readily available. I’m already ready to go back!

This hotel is awful. It's like spring break for 40 year olds. The food is sub par. The alcohol is cheap & full of sugar. No fresh juice. As a solo travel I did not feel safe here. It's just a bunch of drunk people yelling & screaming like a frat house. I was given the keys to the wrong room which was already occupied by someone else. Fortunately no one was in the room at the time but all there stuff was there & big ballons that said BRIDE. If I was an unscrupulous person this could have been very bad for the people in that room. How would I know the same thing wouldn't happen to me?! I left the hotel & went to the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort. I paid for 4 nights & stayed 1 night & the hotel REFUSED to give me a refund.

Perfect Resort for Large Group of Friends who like to party
We booked RIU Palace Baja for a group of 20 with 10 rooms (4 Elite Ocean, 6 regular rooms) and it was perfect for our bachelor/bachelorette parties. The rooms looked identical minus the view, balcony, balcony size, and distance from the noisy areas. Paying extra for elite depends on preference. We enjoyed the view, not being on the bottom floor, away from the noise during prime time, and having a large balcony for group meets, but otherwise, didn't use much of the elite services outside of separate check in. We'd probably do it again if it was a large party. Rooms were cleaned and bar was restocked upon request. We were really impressed with the overall resort and little thoughtfulness ideas like the mini seagull pool on the roof to keep the birds away from the actual pool area. We set low expectations for the food, but we're pleasantly surprised with the great breakfast and overall decent dinner/lunch at all the restaurants. Restaurants get busy at 8pm (40m wait). The main reason for booking was great access to the RIU pool parties. We wanted to reduce the traveling as much as possible for a large group and a 10m walk next door to the Santa Fe for the party was perfect. We had an excursion that got back at 5PM on Friday and we thought it wasn't enough time to make it to the Pink Pool Party that ended at 7PM. It was absolutely plenty of time. We got there at 5:30PM and it was high energy all the way until 7PM. We were exhausted, but worth it. We spent a couple afternoons at the pools. It was never crowded and we were always able to get chairs. There is a shuttle service from the hotel for $4pp to downtown Cabo or you can uber from the hotel entrance gate. The only issues we had during our stay were with the third party airport shuttle service, Destination Services. We planned ahead to schedule our shuttles, but flights got changed and all tried updating. Even with confirmations from the service, they mixed up several of our confirmations because we had the same last names. It eventually got sorted out, but it cost some of us a couple of hours time. Overall, this was the perfect resort for a weekend party with a large group of friends that like to drink and party.
