Many many thanks!!
We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Riu Palace Baja California for their exceptional service and help during my husband’s hospital stay. We were to stay January 4-12 and ended up extending our stay another week because of medical emergency. We checked in on January 4th and he called a dr because he was having a problem with his leg and he never went back to the resort until January 14th. Josh, Fernanda, Carla and Arturo were absolutely phenomenal in helping me check my daughter in when my husband couldn’t be here. They worked the phones and allowed her to stay with me while we went back and forth to the hospital! The bell boys were so helpful in getting us our taxi every morning as well. We can’t thank you all enough for your care and concern! We will be back at the end of the year again to redo our elite stay!!!

Amazing!
Amazing resort! Everything you could ever need. You could relax during the day and then head next door to Riu Party if you wanted to at night. Perfect mix of celebration and relaxation.

Beautiful view, but didn’t get the honeymoon we thought we signed up for
Gorgeous views! But if you want beach/swimming access, not recommended. Hotel was super clean and tidy. Seemed to be fairly well maintained - with exception of our dang door. We got locked out four times. They said the batteries on the door lock died! Four times in 4 days???? Extremely frustrating. On the last night when it happened again they just told us to pack up they are moving us to another room. But they failed to tell us it was a double bed room. Nope. You already ignored our honeymoon request - we aren’t moving to that from a king bed! 😡 We booked this trip for our honeymoon. Made sure we got a honeymoon package but when we arrived at Riu we didn’t even get a “congratulations”. Nothing. Nothing that was listed in the package. When we asked they didn’t know anything. Went back down and brought my receipt and they said because we booked thru Apple vacations and not directly thru them they won’t do anything. Wtf. Why did you take our money then? It was super disappointing. 😢. Would not recommend here if you have a special celebration. The employees here were incredibly kind, helpful, friendly - just amazing!!! Management on the other hand, not so helpful (door and honeymoon issues) Entertainment was fairly disappointing as it only happened at night if there wasn’t an event at one of their sister hotels (Riu Santa Fe) or an NFL football game. The huge screen for their entertainment is nasty and needs to be repaired or replaced. When there was entertainment it was pretty fun, the Riu crew was great and talented. The crew at the pool during the day was also fun. But bingo or games on your smart phone are not pool activities we found exciting or fun. Food was pretty good but inconsistent. Agave (Mexican food) was phenomenal the first night, so on the second night I ordered the same meal. It wasn’t that great. The Italian restaurant (Sophia) was my favorite. But when we tried to go again it was closed. They had amazing fish tacos at Pepe’s but apparently they were only available on Sunday. 😢 buffet was good most days. They change it up a bit, but for the most part it’s the same every day. There is so little alcohol in the drinks - you need to ask for extra shots. (And I’m not a drinker!). The pool chairs get taken very early, so every morning (that we didn’t have an excursion) I’d get up at 6am, take our towels down to the pool to save our chairs … but because it’s probably the most beautiful time of day … I’d stay down there watching the sunrise and having the most delicious cappuccino from their coffee shop (probably my personal favorite). Taxis from the hotel cost about double or even more than an uber. But an uber can’t pick you up at front, you have to walk down to the main hotel road entry. They can drop you off at the door though. (Taxi in to town was $16, uber back was $5.85) Excursions were amazing - highly recommend the UTV / ATV ride and any of the boat rides to the arch. We did a whale watching boat tour that was fun but I swear we saw more whales driving back from our UTV adventure (the pacific side) Felt safe at Riu and walking around in town.

Great spot for a large friend trip
We had a large group at the property for a week. We had great service, the resort was spotless and the food was the best any of us had had for an all inclusive resort. Only real downside is there isn’t a ton to do right on the property and everyone in our group complained about the beds. Some also had really loud rooms (ie could hear neighboring rooms easily) so be sure to bring a white noise machine if that will bother you.
