  Just OK

  Just got back from Rui Negril. Let’s start by saying the staff was awesome! The grounds and accommodations clean and modern. That’s the good. The beach, well being a bay is leaving something to be desired. Lots of growth underneath with rocks and squishy bottom. Very shallow also. The beach itself was very nice. Finding a good spot at the pool or any shade on the beach difficult as they let guest apparently leave their towels in chairs overnight to hog up all the good spots. They would leave their pool chairs for hours at a time and go to the beach leaving nothing available. Buffet, well you won’t starve but sometimes empty trays and let’s just say it’s average at best. Second time at a Rui and won’t do it again. Back to Iberostar for me. Also Negril is a very long way from the airport. Again I had a good time but there are certainly things that could be better.

  Riu Negril

  So we’ve just returned from 10 nights at the Riu Negril. The place is amazing and the staff are all first class. The hotel is immaculately clean and if you can’t find food there that you like, then there’s something wrong with you! Personally I’m not a fish eater, but my friends absolutely adored the different sea foods whilst I indulged in steak, beef, chicken etc. The food is delicious and you can eat as much as you like! There are numerous restaurants on the resort all of which are excellent. All the staff are friendly and pleasant and can’t do enough for you. There are beers, wines & of course spirits at all the restaurants. The beach bar is fantastic and the Rum Punch definitely has the punch! The atmosphere at the beach bar is amazing! The beach is immaculately kept and the sea is a beautiful temperature to cool off in. I must also mention the local traders on the beach. All are friendly and make everyone feel safe and welcome. For us the holiday was made special by Captain Brown who runs the Sea shell glass bottom boat along with the fishing/ sea toy pulling boat. We hired Captain Brown and his crew several times for the most amazing snorkelling experiences. Especially the Sandy Key Reef 🪸 But also just as amazing was the ship wreck snorkelling and the stop off at Half Moon bay for an ice cold Red stripe ( or two!) amazing place and super welcoming proprietors. Also very amazing was the catamaran excursion from the beach to the famous Ricks Cafe, where the vibe is amazing, the views staggering and the Sunsets simply unrivalled. Also I can’t recommend our regular, any destination no problem driver, Cameron. Just as any of the beach traders for Cameron’s number and he’ll be only too pleased to take you in his air conditioned pride & joy. Again, Cameron made every trip interesting by making unscheduled stops for local delicacies such as peanut porridge and local fish and sea food sampling. An absolute star of a driver. Anyway, back to the Riu Negril, the party atmosphere doesn’t stop and the nightly entertainment is first class with live acts & bands, discos and entertainers every night. Yet at night times you are not kept awake by the noise at all because the rooms are far enough away. The lobby bar (jammin bar) is amazing too! The staff are awesome and if they happen to spot you with an empty glass, it gets refilled immediately! This is our second holiday at Riu Negril and it most certainly won’t be our last! We can’t wait to go back and do it all again! One love Riu Negril to all the staff and beach traders ❤️ Definitely see ya soon!

  Great Hotel

  This is a great Hotel! The vibe is amazing, its high energy but not over the top. The night time entertaiment area is huge with two stages, 24 hr sports bar with a full menu is fanatstci. Ony this thing we didnt like was how hard it was to book a resevation - we only had one a la carte the whole week. Management needs to ensure all guests have access to at least three of these - they should be booked upon check in.

  Best RIU so far!!!!

  This place was hands down the best RIU I’ve ever been to, between the swim out room, the entertainment staff and the food, this place was amazing. The steakhouse made the most amazing cheeseburger with Brie that was simply mouthwatering. The neon party had something for everyone and didn’t disappoint. The entertainment staff was always on 10 despite the long hours they work. The beach party is also not to be missed. I thought I was giving up something staying at a resort without room service, but this place is lively, clean, and always jumping. Definitely will send clients and revisit myself.

  The staff makes this place incredible!

  We highly enjoyed our stay at this location! We were first met by the wonderful "bellhop" Chad, who had and incredible personality and was super helpful - a great way to start the trip! The entertainment team of Shackile, Quwayne (Cuban), Oshin (Shin Shin), Gail (GG), Bryan and Shadow each day by the pool and every night in the theater was unmatched with any other vacation we've been on. The amount of work, energy and skill these people put in is unbelievable. The pools were always clean (thanks in large part to Javel the wonderful lifegaurd). The pool bar staff (Raheim and Tyrese) were super. The rooms were well taken care of and very nice. The food was decent, not outstanding but definitely better than most. We even fit in a wonderful couples massage at the spa - so relaxing! We look forward to coming back again soon.
