    Great family vacation spot!

The hotel itself could use some updating but honestly it didn’t really effect the quality of our vacation, you’re very rarely in your room anyways. The beach and pools were so fun and kid friendly, there was tons of cool events at night geared to all ages. The staff is beyond helpful and kind, they definitely go above and beyond! We will definitely be making this a family tradition!

    RUI Jalisco...big disappointment

RIU Jaslisco . Don't stay here! We are here for the week from 5/27 -6/3-23. Our Jacuzzi suite that we paid extra for is a joke. Our air conditioning won't cool down the. room. They have been up to our room 4 times. Nothing but excuses ! We were told our room is hot because it faces the sun in the afternoon. Our sister in law has the same room 2 doors down, and her room is nice and cool! Our air conditioning won't go below 27.5 c. Our first night here after much haggling, they put us in a different room for the night. They even had a guy come to our room with a temperature gun and all he could say was caliente. We tried to use the Jacuzzi spa, the water barely trickled out to fill the spa up. After a long wait we tried to use the spa and the jets didn't work. We told them at the front desk about it, and the guy at the front desk said ' bubbles, it not supposed to have bubbles. It a tub for outside'. I guess my definition of Jacuzzi is different then his. Every other resort that we have stayed at must also be wrong! The tv doesn't work either, gets 13 channels and if you try change the channels above that it shuts off. The picture is poor, the remote doesn't work very well. The tv in the room that they moved us to for the night, had a great picture and the remote worked. In the room their channel guide has 49 channels listed. Our safe also didn't work when we got here. When they came to the room and fixed it, we were told that you have to push the numbers real hard to get it to work. We asked them to look at the air conditioning and they said it they set it and to let it cool down the room. All this on our first day!! The food is mediocre at best. We have stayed at other all inclusive resorts so we know the food is going to be gourmet. Our room number is 6198. We have another vacation planned for our 41st anniversary to stay at the RIU Mazatlan that I'm going to cancel when we get back

Do not waste your money here! Absolutely horrible experience. HORRIBLE FOOD, bad and uncaring service from management.

I don’t even know where to start. I have been traveling for over 25 years and this was by far one of the worst experiences. The rooms are Motel 6 type rooms. The air conditioning does not work properly. (Our friends on the other rooms complained about this as well). Don’t even get me started on the mattress and pillows. Just horrible. The food here is terrible. No flavor and the restaurants are so warm that most of the food looks spoiled if you don’t go and eat right when it’s being prepared. The service is terrible as well. We even had management for into our room while we were out. We had the “do not disturb” sign hanging on our door and they went into to our room anyways. When we confronted them about it they said they had maintenance come into exchange the TV. Mind you we didn’t ask for the TV to be exchanged. We complained about the AC on our first day but no one came to check on that. They didn’t even apologize for that. They just said it’s in the handbook. If there is an emergency, management can go into your room at any time. How crazy is that?? Also they will not allow you to take food outside of the restaurant. My husband was going to bring me a plate of fruit to the room and he was stopped by an employee who ended up taking the plate away from my husband. Everything is super outdated. The chairs on the beach are dirty and half way broken. The location is horrible as well. If you want to go to a restaurant outside of this place, which we had to do a lot since the food here was so awful, you have to take a taxi or Uber into town which is about min 30 mins away and cost about $20 one way. The pools where loaded with way too many kids and drunk people. I hope you got my point here. DO NOT COME TO THIS RESORT.

Old hotel needs some upgrades for sure.

It’s a old hotel that has seen better days, our ac hasn’t worked the entire time they came and try to fix it but still wasn’t working. Pillows are extremely uncomfortable as well as the bed way too hard for my liking, and the rooms don’t smell very good. Staff is great and friendly, food is good and lots of it, as it is an all inclusive. Weather has been fantastic really hot , place is pretty busy with lots of kids not recommended if u don’t want the noise of all the kids that’s for sure. No adult only pool either so u can’t really escape the kids unfortunately.

Solid family option for a reasonable price

Stayed for 7 days with our two kids (6&8). Had a family suite with bunks which was spacious and super clean. The beds are very firm and pillows sparse - we requested additional pillows which was no problem. The Riu app was great. We used it for added amenities and water restock and the requests were promptly actioned. Stayed in room 5160 which was close to the elevator and far away enough from the noise. The night shows are very loud however ended before midnight so it wasn’t an issue for us. The Michael Jackson show was the best! The Fri night entertainment is alternating white party or neon party. We landed on the white party which was very well done and kid friendly! Kids club was hit and miss with hours and availability and wasn’t something we relied on but the kids enjoyed it when they were there. Plentiful food and drinks with lots of variety. No reservations were required for a la carte which was a nice change (low season). Two pools plus a kids area which separated the rowdier crowd from families. A note, the pictures show an island with water slides which is not current. The island is no longer accessible and is now a waterfall feature. The pools were pretty gross by the end of the day but were fresh for the mornings. Ping pong, soccer and shuffleboard was near impossible to play. We could never seem to track down the activity team to sign out the accessories. Not sure why they keep these items on the other side of the property when the towel stand is right beside the amenities. The staff were overall friendly and seemed happy!! No poolside or beach service however there were several bars and minimal lines. No shortage of staff cleaning everywhere and at all hours. The beach was quite full of cups, dishes and garbage unfortunately however every day or two it seemed to get picked up for the most part. It was cleaner closer to the water which is where we spent most of our time so not a big deal. We went to the Riu Vallarta for a day which was a nice change of scenery and a 5 minute walk. We were able to eat, drink and use the kids club. The overall property experience at the Vallarta appeared a step above the Jalisco. Overall, the Jalisco was a great value for the money spent. The property could use an update but it was clean so no complaints!!
