Beautiful location but beware of food handling
The first three days of our vacation were pleasant- loved the beach and the staff were very friendly. However halfway through our trip, three members of our family of five became violently ill with severe gastrointestinal issues. Two of our family members did not leave our room for nearly 48 hours and continue to struggle with nausea after returning home. Needless to say this was a disappointing vacation. We have been to Mexico many times without experiencing any gastro issues and we only drank bottled water and did not eat off the resort. Afterwards I paid more attention and noticed a lot of unsafe food handling practices (ie hamburger stand attendant used tongs that have just been used to grab raw meat to put French fries on a guests plate. There was raw meat on their fries.)

Stay Dec 6-13 2024
O complaints with this resort. Food was great, grounds were beautiful and the entire staff were very happy and always there to please. The pools were clean and the temperatures was warm. It was really easy getting a cab, by asking the front desk and they were on site within minutes. The beach was amazing and clean and the ocean is easily swimable. Overall we would recommend this resort.

Friendly Staff, But Facilities and Cleanliness Could Improve
We stayed at the RIU Jalisco from December 6–15, 2024, with a group of seven. Throughout our visit, the staff were consistently friendly and hard-working, which we genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, during our stay, four members of our party—including both children and an older adult—experienced stomach issues that lasted about 24 to 48 hours. While we can’t confirm the source of these illnesses, we feel that adding more visible hygiene measures in the dining areas, such as providing hand sanitizer at restaurant entrances, might help prevent similar occurrences. In addition, some aspects of the property felt dated, particularly the pools, which could benefit from renovations to bring them up to more modern standards. Overall, we value the kindness of the staff but hope that management will consider enhancing cleanliness practices and updating certain facilities to improve the overall guest experience.

We’re back!!! I love this place
Once again return to the Jalisco because it’s our favorite stay when we visit puerto Vallarta. Always a pleasure and great service. The front desk staff always pleasant and helpful, my favorited are Esaul and Edgar who always go out of their way to make our stay extra special. Victor the director is fabulous and great for this establishment. Every morning we see him at breakfast and it starts our day off right. The bellboys are always smiling and work extra hard so make sure you tip them well. A couple dollars goes a long way. Luis is extra special!!! The guys at the scuba caribe are funny and always happy and there’s boogie boards and parasailing available!! Thank you always Aron and Leo! Servers from breakfast, lunch and dinner are always providing myself and my husband with top notch service and after coming here for many years we’ve developed a great relationship with many. Barbara, Sandra, Ramona, Alonso, Juan and Caleb there’s many many more but these are our favourites. Thank you once again Riu Jalisco staff for making our vacation well worth it. We will be back in 3.5 months and leaving today but gracias for everything
