Mar 20, 2026Do not Book with Nexus Tours
DO NOT BOOK TOURS WITH NEXUS TOURS! I booked the Diamante Eco Adventure tour for my family. Three people did the zip line and seven of us did the animal sanctuary. The agent had agreed not to charge for the 2 children ages 3 and 5. (3-year-olds are supposed to be free anyway). When I looked at the confirmation they had charged for everyone. I went back to the agent several times and he said he was working on it. Nothing was resolved and when I got home, I checked my credit card transactions, and they had charged my credit card TWICE. One time that included everyone and then a second time where they did not charge for the children. However, they did not credit the first charge!! I disputed this with my credit card company and Nexus Tours responded that we went on the tour and had a signed booking confirmation from me. That is true but they charged me twice!! Between the two charges it is almost $800 CAD!! That is not right!

The front desk booked my dinner for 6:30pm upon arrival and they refused to seat us and made us wait 40 minutes stating our reservation was for 7:30pm. Does that time for a party of 3 really outweigh trying to ensure a first time visitor receives great customer service? Milton & Leslie confirmed that I will never return or recommend the resort to anyone. Sadly the customer service was lacking. Difficult to find a place to eat every evening for a party of 3 and you could only make a reservation at one restaurant.

Mar 18, 2026Beautiful place to stay! The Riu Guanacaste hotels cares more about their company funds then their guest welfare!
The first half of our stay went extremely well.And we enjoyed it. On february eleventh, we returned to our room at seven in the evening and found it to be full of fumigants. We had to change rooms and upon further investigation found out that there had been problems fumigating the basement. Later we were told they were fumigating the gardens. As we waited for somebody from the main desk to come and help us we started to pack our stuff. Our patio door was wide open when we came in, and the smoke detector was laying on our bed. We were told to fill out a complaint form because nobody locally could help us out. We were moved to a different room, but nobody ever gave us an explanation as to what had happened. We were very concerned about what was in the fumigents, and how toxic it was but no one would give us an explanation of any sort. We filed a complaint later in the week.But could never get any response to our questions. My wife ended up going to the doctor because of her extremely hard coughing spells and sore throat. Our doctor said it was due to extreme chemical burn in my wife's throat. Once again, when we voiced our concerns to the company, they were not interested in.Listening to us. Be careful booking with any of their resorts because they care much more for the company than they do their guests.

The front desk was not helpful at all(absolutely rude as can be). The app was not accurate about anything that was going on at the hotel. The food was disappointing(no room service at all and refused to restock the soda in the fridge until the 2-day requirement was met), plus restaurants were open sometimes, closed others, and a long wait to eat anything but a buffet, making it impossible to eat anywhere else. Fire alarms 2 of the 3 nights I was there, around 2 am. Spilled drinks all over in the mornings ( like a Holiday Inn on spring break)asked for a small toilet item and was told to go to the store and buy it. asked about laundry service and was told to read the paperwork in my room. The towels smelled musty upon our arrival, and the soap was out of the dispenser( they brought me a large bottle to refill it myself and told me to give it to the cleaning person in the morning. This has to be one of the worst all-inclusive experiences I have ever had. I actually lost weight while on vacation.. What a waste of a beautiful remodel!!!!
