No Coke
The resort was clean and friendly. The amenities were good. The variety of meals and drinks was good except for the fact Mexico is known for Coke not Pepsi. I did not know to check this. I would not go back for only one reason. No Coke. I would assume all RUI resorts are Pepsi. So I won't return.

Clean and very well maintained
I would definitely recommend this resort. It was very clean and well maintained. Food was great and no reservations needed at the restaurants

Family vacation
only disappointment was the seagulls were so disruptive and messy to the resort pooping in pools and around food & pool areas stealing food off peoples plates at other resorts we have seen a staff hired to keep them away with other birds who chase the seagulls away and protect the resort

Great resort but food could use improvement
We stayed at RIU Dunamar from February 16 to February 23, 2026. Check in was quick and easy. It took about 20 minutes to get our towel cards and wristbands and head to our room. Check out was just as simple. The size of the resort was perfect for us. We were traveling with my 82 year old mom, so it was nice that everything was close together. The pools, restaurants, beach, and entertainment area were all an easy walk. The entertainment area had lots of seating, some covered and some not. Our room was spacious and very clean. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The whole resort was very clean, including the pools, bars, and restaurants. The first day the room had a bit of a strange smell, but it was gone by the next day. The room felt a little warm at first, but once we turned on the ceiling fan it was comfortable. The only issue with the room was the noise. When people shut their doors in the hallway, it echoed loudly and woke us up a few times during the night. The walls seem a bit thin, but overall we were still able to sleep. Service was mostly good. The bar service was very good all week. Buffet service was hit or miss. Sometimes we had to ask more than once for spoons or drinks, and once in a while we had a server who did not seem very friendly. The biggest disappointment for us was the food. Most of it was not hot enough. We are used to other all inclusive resorts in Mexico having live cooking stations like omelet stations in the morning or grills at dinner. There were no live cooking or smoothie stations here. Everything was already sitting out in trays, and because of that it just was not very hot. A couple of times the fish and chicken even seemed undercooked. The food by the pool was also not very good. The chips tasted stale, almost like cardboard, and the cheese sauce was very runny. They did have turkey hot dogs, which we appreciated since we do not eat pork, but I did not like the taste of them. The fries were not great either (I would go and get the buffet fries as they were so much better). At other resorts we have stayed at, the beach or pool restaurants had more variety and different themes with things like pasta stations, wings, and other options. This resort did not offer much variety by the pool. The a la carte restaurants were a little strange because parts of them were still buffet style. The Asian restaurant was the best one we tried. The Italian restaurant had good appetizers, but our main meals were cold and not good. We skipped the steakhouse based on reviews and did not try the other restaurant. We mostly ate at the main buffet, which was pretty repetitive. One night they had turkey and that was actually very good. One person in our group got a stomach bug that lasted about two days. We are not sure if it was from the food, but it is worth mentioning. I would rate the entertainment about a 6.5 out of 10. It was okay but could have been better. My favorite shows were the Michael Jackson show and the Vegas style impersonator show. The White Party on Wednesday had a fun vibe with bubbles, balloons, and good music, but it was mostly just dancing. After a while it got a little boring. During the day there was not a lot going on compared to other resorts we have visited. They do have a sports bar, and when the Olympic hockey games were on it had a really fun atmosphere. There is no room service at this resort. We do not usually use it, but some people might miss having that option. We did have to go down around 7:00 in the morning to save chairs, especially since we had a group of eight and wanted to sit together. The seaweed was mostly under control. It was very windy a few days, so we could not enjoy the beach much then. On the calmer days, the beach was beautiful. Would we go back? No. We have stayed at better resorts with better food, more daytime entertainment, and extras like a coffee shop. The resort is clean and the staff works hard, but for us it just did not compare to other places we have been.
