Overall, very good, some minor room for improvement
Went to this all-inclusive with several friends over spring break and family. Overall, our experience was positive. I do think a few recommendations: 1-the on stage activities at night are generally pleasant to watch, the dancers and actors make efforts to entertain, but everything there is generally loud. If you want quiet, ask for a room on the outside, not looking into the courtyard and especially do be in the middle building where the stage is.. also on Wednesday night there is a “neon Riu party” that comes through. It is very loud, entertaining but a little crazy. People dressed in neon clothes, dancing sexy, foam and bubbles spraying from the stage, extra bars and lights are set up. The kids enjoyed it, but I will admit it was a bit loud and long. If you want quiet not your first choice. 2-I actually thought the food was really quite good overall. Some people were criticizing it, but there’s lots of variety. It was generally fresh. Chicken products were better than beef products.None of us got sick. 3-the gym is a little small, but if you get up early, there’s no problems using it. 4-I was reading about security and staff on other reviews being a bit aggressive. I saw none of that happening. I can imagine if people were getting out of hand that that could happen though and there are police around with semi automatic weapons that come through a couple times a day on the beach . Essentially behave yourself and everything will be fine. 5-I recommend you bring at least $100 in American one dollar bills. It is appreciated by the staff when you leave them a couple dollars for a tip and doing any sort of money exchange there is a total rip off so avoid it. 6-if you have scheduled a ride from the airport, simply look for the associate from that business. Do not stop anywhere else. You will be accosted by all sorts of people selling you timeshare, offering you a taxi, etc so whatever you arrange in advance just do that and avoid anything else 7-the place felt very safe to me. It is several miles north of the Cancun main hotel strip. About 45 minutes from the airport to get here. 8-the pools are very nice. If you willing to get up early and save yourself some chairs it’s good, but it’s not absolutely necessary. The beach is not very wide, however, other than seaweed it was generally a pleasant experience and the water was very warm. The staff will bring you drinks so you don’t even have to get up. They are constantly paying attention to you and I thought this was nice. Again it’s nice to tip them a couple dollars here and there. 9- generally a good place for families, not too many overly drunk people in the pool, it never seemed to get out of hand. Occasional people were a bit loud and unruly but no one getting over the top sloppy drunk that I witnessed . I would probably not recommend this place for a honeymoon or for a couple that wants quiet though. 10-my one complaint was the air-conditioning is very loud. When it kicks on at night, it makes a loud thump noise enough to wake you up. I essentially had to turn it off at night because it kept waking me up . Overall, I would go back with the right group of people seeking fun, Mexican culture, some drinks and dancing.. I would not go back as a couple though that wants peace and quiet.

Trip with Adult family kiddios.
Our stay was average. We had some issues with a few things but were resolved. Disappointed on the cost of taxi rates from the hotel, they wanted 70% more than a Uber. We used Ubers no problem at all. The bus ride to the Foam parties were LONG on the way home 2 hours vs 1 Hour. That kept us from attending the 2nd one. I think Foam parties should be at ALL resorts. There should also be a daily newsletter vs the app for things going on or a board, we missed out on a few things. This resort should also keep families with kids under 10 in one area for rooms. Lots of screaming little ones with bad parenting (AKA dont tell the child to be quiet) Overall a average RUI .

Great service
We had an excellent experience at the Riu Dunamar resort. The food, service, and atmosphere were all fantastic. A special thank you to Nancy, who took care of us during breakfast and lunch—she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She truly made our stay memorable!

Riu Dunamar
Nice Resort with everything close by. Great for kids. Only trouble I had is they gave a room above the nightclub which was terrible considering we have 3 kids. But next morning we came to front desk and they switched it to a better location. Food is great at the buffet. Only thing I feel is missing from buffet is salmon lux for breakfast and shrimp for lunch/dinner.
