Spring Break Policies -
1. Student / Spring Breaker Groups (21 years of age or older) will be accepted ONLY at Riu Cancun & Riu Caribe
2. All Student / Spring Breaker Group reservations are strictly On Request and will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the corresponding Destination Sales Department. RIU Hotels & Resorts reserves the right of admission and may reject any request at its sole discretion.
3. If a Student / Spring Breaker Group is accepted:
a. The number of rooms will be deducted from the contracted allotments
b. Minimum Age requirement: 21 years of age or older.
c. The Hotel may request proof of age in the form of passport or official ID
d. Each room must submit a signed liability agreement upon check-in.
4. At all other RIU properties Student Groups / Spring Breakers (either groups or individuals, regardless of age) are not allowed at any time during the year.
5. Guests disturbing or generating complaints from other guests or hotel may be removed from the property, at their own expense.
a. Parties in rooms are not permitted
6. Student / Spring Breaker Groups must comply with any protocols (hotel and government) in place at the time of stay at the hotel.

Jan 15, 2025This is a party hotel and not 5*
We visited this hotel for 12nights with our son's and their girlfriends for new year!! We wanted to be in central Cancun so that we could have the options of going out of the hotel. So, the location is great for Coco Bongo, Señor Frog, Hard Rock, Monkey Business and a few more bars. On first impression, the Lobby is large, bright, spacious and very clean. Our son's rooms were next to each other on 10th floor and me and my husband were on 15th floor. Great views. The staff are constantly cleaning. The rooms are large and very clean!! The food was what we expected for All Inclusive....plenty to chose but just ok!! The other restaurants are nothing special. The beer is terrible!! You start to lose the sun at midday around part of the pool and it's completely gone by 3.30pm. You have to be up at the crack of dawn to get loungers in the sun. The beach is narrow and also loses the sun by 4pm. The sand is amazing though. This is very much a party hotel. Everyone is having fun. However, the fun also continues to the corridors and rooms. With the interconnecting doors between the rooms being so thin, you hear everything. My son and his girlfriend were woken by people banging on the door and abusing them as they thought it was there room in the early hours of the morning. Security took ages to attend to remove the people who became threatening to my son and his girlfriend as you couldn't reason with them. The next night, me and my husband were woken at 4.30am by people talking loudly and smoking in their room. The smoke came through the connecting door as there is a massive gap around the door. We complained to the hotel but we had no apologises!! We've been to Mexico before and stayed in a Rui which we loved. I love a good night out and we were out late some of the nights too. However, when we went to bed, we were polite and quiet to respect others on our floor. I would only recommend this hotel to groups of people who really want to party all night!! Security should be patrolling the floors of this hotel during the night!! We couldn't wait to leave hotel in the end.

We travel to the Riu for Christmas and had a really good time Myself and my boyfriend went alone however met a lot of similar people to us. I would say this a younger hotel as focus seems to be around parties. However I do think if you didn’t want to do that there is some general entertainment in the hotel each night Food was great, they did a Xmas eve meal which was incredible Rooms I would say need an upgrade. We stayed on the 2nd floor and they were very basic. However visiting friends on the 15th floor there room was a lot better (even though we paid more) The sun however was an issue due to the style of building sun was gone by 3 and you had to get up at 7am for the better loungers but this still went around 4pm both around the pool and beach Staff you cannot fault they were always amazing and constantly cleaning and fixing things around the hotel Overall great stay would say a 4* tho but still amazing holiday

Rooms are dated but cleaned very well each day, air con is very loud. Food was very average, a large selection but not great quality. Staff were very good and work really hard in all areas. The sun is gone by 3pm so not ideal for sunbathing, have to be up early to get beds closest to the beach which keep the sun the longest. Beach is very small and not at all like the photos online. We were in room 1035 which had a nice sea view, but we did find the lifts annoying as it could take a while to get one up or down from the 10th floor. We stayed over new year, no special entertainment or show which was disappointing. We had an incident on one night where we were woken at 1am to a group of men were trying to break the door down in the interconnecting room next to us (another one of our parties room). They were very drunk and convinced it was their room, threatening that they would beat up anyone inside once they got in. We rang reception who did come up and show the men into their own room, and told us they were on their final warning. We also made a complaint the next day as there was more noise later into the night, the reception staff were not that helpful at reassuring us it wouldn’t happen again. We felt very unsafe and felt nothing was done to help us. It was not just a noise complaint, we were threatened and would have appreciated more consequences for someone threatening and trying to break a door down. We did not get a follow up or update on what was happening- this was really disappointing and ruined the end of our trip. Overall definitely not a 5 star hotel, full of loud young drunks. Would not recommend.

Birthday and New Year break
An honest review! The RUI Cancun is not a 5* hotel, it would be somewhere between a 3* -4* star based upon U.K. classifications. The hotel needs a serious upgrade and renovations. The rooms are akin to a Travelodge standard, and the general upkeep of hotel needs massive improvement ( cleaning) The views from the swimming pools are however absolutely stunning, and the staff work incredibly hard and are so polite. That’s is probably the one aspect this hotel excels. The food again was not of a 5* standard, the meal one evening in the Italian was that poor we could not eat. We asked to be moved after 4 days, we moved next door to the RUI Palace, wow just wow, absolute night and day in comparison to RUI Cancun-that is a proper 5* hotel. In summary, TUI should not be advertising RUI Cancun as part of their Platinum Collection. Whilst it has fantastic views and lovely pools, the hotel is simply not of a 4* let alone a 5* standard. 5 days over New Year
Friends enjoying sun and relaxation for 6 days / 5 nights. The pool and swim up bar is spectacular, but get up early to save chairs.
