The Rio has been remolded and now is headed in a very positive direction for you to enjoy your Vegas get away but some items still need work, but it is definitely headed in the right direction.

The remodeled rooms are excellent! Good eats, parking is easy and the location is very good also in that you are close to everything.

Dec 01, 2025Got Charged $350 smoking fee for not smoking
I would avoid coming to this establishment. The hotel charged me a smoking fee of $350 and no one in our room smoked. Their “proof” is some detector that had “elevated” signs of smoke. But there were other patronages on my floor who were smoking marijuana and I could smell in the hallways as I was going to the elevators. So if these “detectors” were to pick up something it would have been from other people who were staying at the hotel floor and I’m sure the ventilation would circulate the air around the floors and other rooms. This whole smoke detector and readings is a flawed system because you will get punished from the actions of the other patronages. Isn’t it the hotel responsibility via the staff matters to report these findings and do their job while scouting the floor. The Rio hotel is definitely understaffed and is a dying establishment and this just seems like a ploy to nickel and dime their customers. I spoke to an A.I. rep on the phone when trying to request for towels for my room. This is example of the hotel trying pay the bare minimum and save their overhead cost. So what makes you think they wouldn’t try to squeeze everything they can from you the customer instead of trying to invest in making the customer experience better to improve revenue. I checked out 24 hours before writing this review and there hasn’t even been an invoice or receipt I received in my email inbox. The charge of $350 was sent to me via an email message no documentation was printed and they just charged my card Also while checking out and trying to leave the hotel their elevator system was terrible. There was going to be an influx of people leaving and checking out at the same time. They only had two working elevators out the four and me and my guest waited 1 hour to just be able get to the main floor. There were packs and packs of people on the elevators and we would stop on every floor to the disappointment of people faces in the elevator and also the people on the elevator floor lobby due to no room in the elevator. Also the elevator would randomly go back up and not go to the main lobby floor and we would see the same faces as we repeatedly go back down to every floor again. This all just goes to show you the hotel casino is running by a thread and they will eventually close soon. I would avoid at all cost to go to this hotel and spend your hard earn money somewhere else

Rio renovated king room suite with strip view!
Nice clean hotel and we were upgraded to a strip view when I ask the front desk! The food court has a nice selection. They need a pizza restaurant!

Rio Hotel
Everything at the Rio was outstanding. Remodeled Ipanema rooms were beautiful. Casino was very fun. Valet was exceptional!
