    Scam

Be warned, they will try to charge you a $500 smoking fee when you did not smoke in the room. They hide it in the middle of the bill and make it impossible to call the resort to talk to someone, they only have their AI Rita Chatbot and there are NO phone numbers to talk to someone directly.

Multiple Late-Night Housekeeping Visits I Never Requested

During my recent stay at the Rio Hotel & Casino I experienced a very unsettling situation involving multiple late-night service requests that I never made. I checked into room 1304 around 9:30pm. Around 10:40pm I received a call from the hotel phone asking if I had ordered a blanket, which I had not. Shortly after, someone knocked on my door claiming to be housekeeping. I told them through the door that I had not requested anything and they left. At approximately 3:00am I was woken up again by another knock on the door from someone claiming to be housekeeping offering towels. Being woken up in the middle of the night by unexpected staff knocking on your door is extremely unsettling, especially when you are traveling alone. The next morning, after I had already spoken to the front desk and specifically asked for my room to be flagged for no housekeeping or service requests, I received yet another call from housekeeping offering shower caps that I also did not request. At that point I requested to be moved to another room because I no longer felt comfortable staying in the original one. I travel frequently for work and have never experienced anything like this before at a hotel. I understand mistakes can happen, but multiple late-night service visits, including one at 3am, followed by another request after asking for no service suggests a serious breakdown in internal communication. I would strongly encourage the hotel to review their service dispatch system to ensure this doesn’t happen to other guests.

    Expect less…

Don’t set expectations too high. If you an issue it’s very difficult to get someone to help you and when they do they aren’t so concerned or expeditious.

Rio slowly becoming the go to place for staying and gambling

Went here for wppi and while the room did have some wear and tear the room was spotless, the bed was comfy and clean sheets. And when there was a technical problem that showed that no one was vacant in the room we were in and had to fix it the staff were able to take care of the situation and as a way of saying sorry for the inconvenience they gave my wife and I a 100.00 food and beverage credit which was used to pay for most of our meals for the next few days. Looking forward to coming back for next year hope to stay in the remodeled rooms

Don't Stay here - Check in staff will gaslight you & not give you the more expensive room that you booked.

I recently stayed here for a conference and booked a room at full price, not through the discounted conference website. The room I reserved was a remodeled high-floor room that cost more on the booking site, and it is a specific room type that is charged for. When I arrived for check-in at 3 PM, which is not considered late, the front desk staff member, Miguel, proceeded to gaslight me. He initially claimed I booked a room in the Masquerade Tower, the older, non-remodeled tower, and insisted it was the type of room I had booked. After completing the check-in process, I pulled up my reservation and showed him I had booked a remodeled king room on a high floor of the new tower. Instead of addressing it, he hesitated, checked the system, and then told me they were completely sold out due to multiple conventions in Vegas. Throughout this entire process, Miguel was unprofessional, cold, and showed no empathy. He clearly didn’t care what type of room I booked and did nothing to assist me. Later that evening, I returned to the front desk and spoke with a gentleman named Timothy. He was much more empathetic and explained the situation. He didn’t offer to waive the hotel fee for my first night but advised me to check with the front desk the next morning to see if I could be moved to the room I originally booked. The following morning, I visited the front desk again, and Anthony, another staff member, moved me to a room in the newer tower. However, it was not on a higher floor and was a smaller room than the one I had reserved. As I mentioned, I paid full price—over $500 per night—and the hotel was unwilling to offer any additional compensation. After my stay, I contacted my booking agency, which reached out to the hotel and was declined, meaning the Rio Hotel would not provide further compensation because they had already waived the resort fee, which was for non-working Wi-Fi in both towers. Regarding the property itself, I was assigned to a lower-quality room in the Masquerade Tower, which I would advise against staying in. It was dingy, gross, old, and dirty. The furniture was worn and heavily used. The only positives were that the bathroom was somewhat decent and the bed was clean. The couch was heavily stained and dirty, so I didn’t sit on it. After several attempts and a check with the front desk, Anthony moved me to a remodeled room in the Ipanema Tower. However, despite paying more for a higher floor, I didn’t get a room on a higher level. The room was clean, but the bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were flat, and all the sheets and linens were hard and rough. I didn’t sleep well. Needless to say, if you expected to be treated with dignity, let alone fairly, don’t stay at the RIO. What they did and how they handled the situation were appalling at best. Save yourself the trouble, there are plenty of other better hotels nearby. Also, after chatting with my friends who were at the conference, many of them got the same treatment and didn’t get the room they booked.
