"Clever" tech cost me sleep
I was in a quiet room on a quiet floor (11), so imagine my horror when the alarm clock I hadn't even noticed when I went to sleep woke me rudely at a far-too-early hour – thanks to some previous guest setting it and most importantly, to the hotel not UNsetting it. Sure, it happens. It's happened to me before, at other hotels - but usually it's possible to turn off the alarm relatively easily. Not so at the Renaissance Nashville, where they seem to think it's important to feature "clever" designs that aren't user-friendly at all - especially when you're TRYING to sleep. As you can see from the pics attached, the clock is a simple cube. You turn the alarm off (or on) by pressing the big button on the top, IF you know to do so. In the likely event you don't, you need to turn on a light to figure things out, and that's easier said than done because the light toggles are really well-hidden under the light rail. (See 'em in the picture? Nope, but that's where they are!) Controls should be OBVIOUS, not hard to find or understand – especially in a hotel room in the middle of the night! Other than those things, this is an excellent hotel (but very pricey, including a $25 "destination fee" gouge). It's well-located, clean and the staff is friendly.

25th floor room has amazing views
three girlfriends in Nashville for a quick Oct. weekend. We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere we wanted to go with a quick uber ride to Belle Mead to visit that plantation. The property has one of the best conceirge lounges I have been in in a while at Marriott Bonvoy properties. The bar had a nice selection of wines and cocktails. The service was impeccable. Really enjoyed our 48 hours at this property. One of my friends went to the fitness center and got a work out in. Another did a run to Vanderbilt. We were so close to the Ryman and delicious food options. We had a flight and some shared plates at Sixty Vines which is super close. Also a quick walk to the Gulch.

Only thing modern is the pricing
90s decor but post-covid pricing: this hotel relies on convention traffic not spending enough time to notice the price-value discrepancy. Everything is dated, worn, and cold. I especially *love* the irony of seeing Environment/Sustainability cards in the room but single-use plastic every where. For this price, I’d expect a glass and/or a mug for my coffee. Only redeeming feature is a well appointed gym. Perhaps this is the norm with modern hotels now — premium pricing with no value proposition. It will come back to bite them one day. Just not sure when.

In the Heart of Downtown
This was our second stay in Nashville. Both visits have been for Kenny Chesney shows at Nissan Stadium. We did our research and knew that we wanted to stay within walking distance for the majority of the activities we wanted to do. We achieved our goal here. This place really is in the heart of downtown Nashville. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. (We had to hop in the car to get to Opryland, Paula Deen’s, and Cooter’s). This hotel has great views of downtown and is actually attached to the Assembly Food Hall (huge bonus). Five Chords Mercantile was great to grab snacks to take back to the room at night. We will definitely stay here on any return trips to Nashville.

Nice hotel but...
I really enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance but the lack of security with the elevators really bothers me. There is a pad for a guest to swipe the hotel card key and then push the button for their floor. This was NOT working and anyone could get on the elevator. At first I thought during the day it is turned off. But NO, it also was not on at night. This is a large hotel (25 floors) and the elevators are not next to reception so anyone can come in and go up. A friend did not get on when a homeless looking man got on. She saw him there the next day as well. For female guests, this is not good or safe. The outside doors to Broadway and Fifth DO require a room key to enter which is great. Nice Starbucks with market is convenient. The SKYWAY bar is bright and had good drinks. The hotel is very clean, nicely decorated and situated in a convenient area right off Broadway. Fix your security, and I would highly recommend.
