A great vacation spot in PV
The staff made our stay incredible. The food was quite enjoyable. The room was comfortable and cleaned regularly. The resort was quite pretty, the pool just the right temperature, and drinks were plenty. The resort was small, and not crowded like other big ones. We were pleased with our stay, and wished it was longer.
We prefer a smaller resort, so we really enjoyed our stay at the Pelicanos. What made it so memorable was the staff. A big thank you to the front desk manager Jose and his team. They were very helpful and were there whenever we needed anything The events coordinators Jesus and Emily were fantastic. They made the day a-lot of fun. All the staff in the restaurant were fantastic providing excellent service. The food was good but could have had a bit more variety. The suite we had was fabulous overlooking the pool. The only issue was housekeeping coming each day around 4:30pm We would have preferred the room cleaned earlier in the day. Other than that everything was fantastic and we will definitely be coming back here again.
Amazing value for money
We came for a week mid January, our first trip to Mexico and we had a great holiday. The resort was spotlessly clean, and the staff were really accommodating and friendly. (We became well acquainted with Fransisco in the dining area at dinner times, and Salvatore and Pedro at the pool bar). Food was good with a wide selection. You won't go hungry!! Beds were very comfortable and showers never ran cold and had great pressure! We stayed on the older wing of the hotel and loved how traditional it was. The only downside was not enough sunbeds at the pool area and people up before sunrise reserving them with towels and not showing up for hours. Overall fantastic experience and would recommend anyone to go for an affordable all inclusive holiday :)
Nice little spot, will return
This is our first time staying in a resort in PV so I don’t have much to compare to, but we loved our stay here. Plaza pelicanos is a small resort, which means you can see your kids the whole time - I liked this because I have 4 of them and it made it easier for me to let them free range without worry. Our room was amazing, we had a ground level room that had doors opening onto the kiddie pool and gardens. The kid pool is in a shady spot off to the side of the main area which I thought was nice for my high albedo children during the peak of the day. The beds are very comfortable but the pillows are hard packed and too high for kids. We found the staff to be very friendly. Sometimes it was a little hard to get drink service in some areas but no problem I don’t mind going to get my own drink or flagging down someone. Most of the staff speak at least a little English. The food was ok. We just did the buffet for simplicity sake. You can make reservations for some other things but we didn’t bother doing that with all the kids. You eat, it’s done, who cares. We found enough at the buffets but sometimes the meals were hard to figure out how to put the random elements together. Many of the foods tasted extremely heavy on butter. Sometimes my kids didn’t find anything they could recognize and they just ate lettuce and crackers. Whatever, I thought it was fine and I appreciated the simplify of it. Everybody ended up fed and I didn’t have to cook so all good. The concierge will try to sell a tour of an associated resort when you first check in. We opted out of it and she sent us the wrong way to find our rooms. Not sure if she did that intentionally because we didn’t buy the thing but in the heat of a 15 min walk with heavy bags it sure felt like it. The pool has a little estuary that lets you swim out to see the beach at sunset. We liked that. The beach is down below a wall, which looked odd in the photos but in real life it makes sense, the other hotels have this as well. It’s just the shape of the beach here, the waves can come right up to shore and it’s quite rough. We didn’t let our kids very far down the beach. We saw one couple get sucked out to sea and they had to be rescued by a lifeguard. The beach is not for swimming or children (it was like this all along at other resorts too). But we quite enjoyed it anyway, we could walk along the beach staying near the top and not going down to the breaking point of the waves. Location was great, we took a cab into the old town and ended up walking back, half the walk is shops and restaurants and the other half is a little disjointed, all in all about half hour walk, but if we can do it with 4 hungry kids at peak noon all sweaty then I’m sure most people could manage it in about 20 min. This resort had about 60% Mexican clientele and about 40% American/Canadian while we are here. Lots of families and older couples, and a good mix in between. It seems like everyone is welcome and it was not too rowdy. For this reason, I would happily come back here again, it just seemed like a happy place, not pretentious.
Would not stay again
the place was dirty - the bathroom was very gross, old and dirty. it was very noisy. I would not book a room there again. It cost me over $200 and was not worth it. The food was good and service was good too.
