Dec 29, 2025If you like chill vibes and a beach that is all yours
We traveled as a party of 6. We reserved though Expedia and this was kind of a big deal to them (in a good way). Perhaps damage control as the the reviews there aren’t as good as they’d like. They gave us special identifiers as Expedia guests (wristbands & door hangers) and we definitely got some VIP treatment as a result. Don’t believe the haters, we had a really wonderful week and they aim to please!!! Do the pre-check in if you are able, for me the process (app) did not work for some reason… the check in process is looooong and you wanna get right to vacationing as quickly as possible. Noella took great care of us. She approached us after a slight room assignment mix up and while we waited to get it sorted out she gave us her direct number and let us know that if we needed anything during our stay going forward, she would handle it. And did she ever!! From comping us a cabana on the day of our choosing, to getting us into all the restaurants on the day/time we desired, she is truly an angel! And she checked in with us frequently to see how it was going. Thank you Noella for turning things around for us after a glitch that could have set the tone in potentially the wrong direction. Restaurant food really good, buffet hit or miss, there were some tasty surprises, go take a look around and if they are making custom made to order dishes, get that! I won’t get too much into it because other reviewers already covered this extensively. Bacon lovers...heads up, you won’t find bacon at the buffet, you have to specifically request it from the cooks making the omelets. You’re welcome! Have dinner at the restaurants, not the buffet if at all possible. Everything we ordered at the restaurants was truly delicious!! David at the hibachi restaurant!! So fun, great personality and stuck around after cooking for such a fun chat. Delightful!!! At the time of this writing they are the only resort in the bay so you get lots of elbow room on the beach. Want to kayak or paddle board? Make a reservation and be prepared to have to reserve for a later date/time, they only have 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards for the entire resort and they will cancel your reservation if the weather (wind) or ocean conditions are not ideal for novices. Beach vendors will offer you goods or services and even if you turn them down they will just enjoy shooting the breeze with you, great conversation, really warm people. They don’t make pests of themselves like some other places I’ve visited. Lovely people, everyone I met had an interesting story to share. Love the Tico people!!! Housekeeping slipped as the week progressed and stopped re-stocking us but you can request things to be delivered if you run out of essentials. Party people. Great resort for those among us who are day drinkers. Day party good, night fun wraps up early. DJs not great, karaoke in the sports bar so fun! We like to dance, the night DJ in the sports bar literally put his hand up when we made a request and then acted like he was doing us a huge favor. Rude. Not talented in blending the the right BPM to keep the music flowing without weird transitions. We danced anyway and we were literally the only ones on the dance floor every night. Can’t stop this party lol. Staff amazing, accommodating, friendly, eager to please, wonderful to talk with and patient with those of us who are forever practicing our Spanish. Bartenders all attentive and fast. Pool bar (near towels) didn’t always do a good job of observing who was actually next to be served but every other bar was top notch service with a smile and they were truly on top of things. Shout out to Emu who had tequila shots at the ready if he spotted us in the vicinity of his bar, he's a rock star! Your glass will never be empty and they are consistent with checking on your level of satisfaction. Chill vibes, super attentive staff, service with a smile. Hospitality at its best. Thank you planet Hollywood for an amazing, satisfying experience in Guanacaste!! This resort is just a more intimate atmosphere than many I’ve been to and as an introvert with certifiable RBF I don’t have the easiest time connecting with new people but I met some wonderful locals, staff members and tourists here from all over the world and my advice to you is to talk to everyone you meet because in my experience everybody had an interesting story to share! It truly is all about the vibes here. Pura Vida!!!

Excellent Hospitality
I stayed at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica Resort from December 4th ~ 9th. I had the absolute pleasure of having Marvin as my butler. I can say he made my experience truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, Marvin went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my stay was perfect. He was professional, attentive, kind, and always available when needed. Whether it was making reservations for everyone in our group, checking in on my on us, handling special requests we may had or simply making sure our days ran smoothly, Marvin did it all with a positive attitude and genuine care. What truly stood out was how personalized his service was. He made me feel like a VIP throughout my entire stay. His attention to detail, prompt communication, and warm personality added so much value to our vacation and allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the resort. Marvin is a true asset to Planet Hollywood Costa Rica, and his exceptional service reflects the highest level of hospitality. Because of him, our stay exceeded all expectations. We highly recommend requesting Marvin if you want an outstanding, stress free, and memorable experience. He had the Jacuzzi cleaned and preprepared for us. Thank you Marvin, for your dedication and excellence. You are amazing at what you do.

I wanted to take a minute to say how much we have appreciated Jose’s service this week. He was our server a few times at the Tex Mex restaurant and one afternoon at the bar. He pairs such attention to detail, anticipated what we needed and was always smiling and checking in on us. He is excellent at his job and was one of the highlights of our stay! Thanks Jose!
