Beautiful Property, Disappointing Service by staff
TL;DR: Beautiful, clean resort with spacious rooms and great views, but the experience is overshadowed by unwelcoming staff, rigid service, excessive nickel-and-diming, and a lack of comfortable common areas to relax—especially during busy times like Christmas. The resort itself is very nice and well maintained. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a great view. The refrigerator was a welcome convenience, and the fluffy towels were a nice touch. The common areas are attractive and have a pleasant coastal charm. That said, we quickly realized there isn’t really a comfortable place to simply relax or linger, especially in the evenings. Most outdoor seating is reserved for dining or the bar, leaving few options to sit outside without ordering food or drinks. Unfortunately, the service was consistently disappointing. At the pool, we overheard a staff member loudly scold a child for standing on a lounge chair, even though the child’s parent was right there—something that felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. Interactions with staff often made us feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. When we ordered food at the pool before closing, the waitress made it seem as though she was doing us a favor by placing the order, rather than simply providing service. There was also a constant sense of nickel-and-diming and unnecessary snark. At the beach, when I asked where to return the towels, a staff member could have simply pointed me in the right direction. Instead, he responded with, “If you have $165, just leave them there,” which felt unnecessarily rude and unhelpful. At the time, I was holding a baby and multiple bags, and rather than offering assistance or basic courtesy, the interaction came across as dismissive and sarcastic. The beach staff were similarly rigid, repeatedly counting down the minutes until chair cleanup and removing our umbrellas without asking because the sun had shifted, rather than offering us a choice. On Christmas Day, while waiting to be seated for breakfast, we overheard the restaurant manager sharply telling the hostess not to seat any more guests. As hotel guests, this felt particularly off-putting. It gave the impression that priority was given to the paid Christmas brunch rather than to guests simply trying to eat breakfast. Outdoor tables were unavailable, and additional reserved tables for the brunch took over most common areas, leaving no shaded seating options—only spots in direct sunlight on the porch. Overall, the hotel itself is lovely, but the staff attitude significantly detracted from the experience. With a mandatory 22% gratuity already built in and frequent reminders of fees and penalties, there seemed to be little incentive for warm, accommodating service—which unfortunately showed throughout our stay.

Thank You
This was our Anniversary. It was a wonderful experience. The ambiance of the location, view of the beach 🏖️ etc. Great experience. Staff was amazing, Khushboo was great, very attentive. My wife has Celiac disease and she asked the chef to prepare something special for her desert, without us knowing. Our son proposed to his wife at this location years ago and we will be back soon. Thank you ☮️❤️

JOHNNY
“Johnny” at the Pelican Grand was most kind, generous and helpful, when I needed some help at the beach. He deserves a promotion and a bonus, in my humble opinion!
