Dec 30, 2025Highly Disappointment - Not to Park Hyatt Standard
The 'Park Hyatt' brand is the highest luxury brand of the Hyatt group - however, the Melbourne property in my opinion does not fall into this category. I travel quite often and stay at many luxury hotels including the Park Hyatt. Our recent stay at the Park Hyatt Maldives (Hadahaa) was fabulous and definitely embodies the Park Hyatt branding (highly personalised service, attentive staff, a focus on fine dining, anticipating the guest's needs) - this was not what we experienced at the Park Hyatt Melbourne. We are loyal Hyatt members and paid on points for a 2-night stay - however, this resulted in the hotel appointing us an inferior room, close to active construction. This resulted in an environment that was noisy (as walls are exceptionally thin), uncomfortable to relax in, and very dissatisfying - which showed the complete lack of customer service and the guest experience (particularly for loyal members). For a brand the prides it's on great food/drink experiences, 'The Lounge' (in house bar and dining) did not meet standard or expectation. This has been a recurring factor mentioned in many reviews on here. Firstly, staff we very inattentive, taking over 10-15 minutes to provide a menu (or a run-down on the best options), failed to take any initiative when it came to topping up something as simple as water, nor even inquiring about how the food was. At points I even thought they were ignoring us. I even greeted one of the wait staff who was clearing our plates with a friendly "hello, how are you?" and he completely ignored us and did not reciprocate. Service was very poor and lacked any warmth and based on that I would not recommend the 'The Lounge' if you are expecting Park Hyatt level service. Front of house (check-in staff) unfortunately require significantly more training on the guest experience. Instead of breaking down the extra charges to the food (the deposit), they charged my credit card without stipulating the breakdown. Please ensure that this communication is rectified to ensure guests are fully informed of all charges. The hotel also offered no advice on appropriate car parking on premise. The public underground carpark - which services the hotel guests - charges very high day/night rates (costing us $240 for 2 nights - double that of valet), yet the hotel unfortunately did not inform of these differences. This would have elevated the experience and provided a 'WOW' factor. I am afraid that all of these experiences cause this hotel to fall short of a 5-star experience. The only positive thing I must say is that one of the cleaning staff who was attending a room next door did hear my mum coughing quite badly in our room. She did a fabulous job and took the initiative to give me several lemon and ginger tea bags and bottles of water - this is 5-star service. I don't like writing negative reviews like this but saddens me to say that this property is not worth the money. Significantly more training is needed to bring this property up to its fellow global hotels.

Loved that the hotel was in a quiet area but also on the edge of the centre. Great gym and spa. Solid pool. Hotel looks grand and is well looked after. They have a lovely hotel dog (Charlie). Breakfast - very good food. Sit away from the front, as it can be a touch busy. Not clear from the website that dinner provisions is just a small (relaxed) area. Not an issue but these big hotel groups can sometimes lose the familiar feel of a local hotel on their “generic” look sites. This one is a peach.

5 star hotel experience at great rates
Excellent 5 night stay at the Park Hyatt Melbourne. For a hotel of this level the price is a bargain. Location is within walking distance of the CBD, the universities and some great neighborhoods. Quality and variety of the breakfast is the best I’ve had at any hotel. Only question mark for me is why this hotel doesn’t have a true dinner restaurant - there is room service and a small lobby dining area, but it misses a restaurant and a bar. The experience was outstanding nevertheless and I would stay there again next time in Melbourne.

A must in Melbourne
This is a great hotel. Very well managed and they have a dog named Charlie who greets the guests. Tha manager was very nice. The breakfast was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Would stay again
Lovely big rooms looking at Melbourne's iconic sports arenas. Massage showers and jacuzzi were appreciated. Beautiful pool. Great breakfast that showcased quality over quantity.
