Awesome experience at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
Highly recommend asking for Sam in the Garden Courtyard restaurant. Friendly, Funny and genuinely invested in your having a great experience. The Courtyard is architecturally stunning by itself, Sam is a great addition.

Weekend Trip in SF
We recently stayed at the Palace Hotel in SF and absolutely enjoyed our time there. It was centrally located so walking everywhere was very easy- lots of coffee shops and restaurants to choose from. The hotel is so beautiful with so much charm. The front doorman Jorge Trejo made our stay extra special greeting us every day with a warm welcome and had tons of great recommendations on places to see and eat. We fell in love with SF and hope to be back soon!

A mix of charm and confusion that left me disappointed
I booked my stay through the American Express Platinum Luxury Collection and expected a five star experience. What I got was chaotic good. Some moments were smooth and genuinely enjoyable. Others made me question the price tag. Check-in was great. The front desk team were warm, helpful and fast. The room being ready at noon helped me settle in and drop my bags before heading out. The location near the metro is another plus. Thanksgiving brunch was the biggest source of chaos. There were two sittings, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. I arrived at 12:50 with my son and found a line that stretched close to a block. We didn’t get in until 1:30 even though our sitting was for 1pm. Once inside, the time crunch became clear. Because a second group needed the room at 4pm, guests from the first sitting were nudged along barely an hour into the meal. The food was mixed. The seafood, raw bar and sushi were an 8 out of 10. The carving station was a different story. The roast beef and turkey were overcooked and bland, closer to a 4 out of 10. The sides were fine. The Bloody Mary bar was fun and the champagne was available, although the setup made it unclear that you could pour your own. Breakfast the next morning repeated the same pattern. The hotel has plenty of space, but the planning didn’t match the volume of guests. Long lines, no reservations, confused guests and tired staff trying to manage a situation that had nothing to do with their effort and everything to do with how leadership set up the weekend. I ended up eating at the bar because I needed to leave. The food was a 5 out of 10 at best. Powdered eggs at a hotel in this price range felt surprising. Thanks to the Amex late checkout I could have stayed until 4 p.m., but I left early because the experience didn’t match the cost. I wouldn’t stay again. Between the room rate and the $250 Thanksgiving brunch, it didn’t feel worth it. If you choose this hotel during a normal week, you might have a different experience. For a holiday weekend, the planning simply wasn’t there.

Mom and daughter trip
Jorge was always so kind and helpful. Getting the door and getting us rides and suggesting coffee places and restaurants. He always smiles and is very friendly.

Sam is the best waiter at breakfast!
We had a lovely breakfast during our stay where Sam was our waiter. He kindly helped us make sure there was something suitable for allergies and double checked. Just a pleasurable experience
