Don't stay until the strike is over.
Please be advise that there is currently a workers strike going on at the hotel, and it was extremely disruptive for my stay. When arrived their were picketers outside that were loudly protesting the hotel. I'm all in favour of unions and workers rights, and as a guest it was extremely uncomfortable having to cross the picket line to get into the hotel. I was not informed of this prior to my stay, and when I followed up with the manager afterwards they mentioned they were contacting people via email before hand about this strike, however I received nothing. I am a Gold Marriott member, so would have hoped they would have contacted to let me know, but unfortunately I didn't receive anything. Many of the services were also not available or were very limited because of the strike. I also understand everyone that was working was either from a different hotel and were doing their best, but it was still extremely dissapointing. The cleaning staff that were also working felt very off. One of the days I came back and they had thrown out all of my food and snacks that I had left to the side. While another day I had noticed that they had put some stuff in my suitcase and closed it. Nothing was taken and I don't believe any malice occurred, but still made me feel very uncomfortable. I followed up with the manager and they gave me some marriott points to appologize, but still not something that I would subject myself too and due to the lack of transparency will choose to stay at a different hotel for when I have to go to SF.

Beautiful hotel with friendly attentive staff
What a beautiful, historic hotel with friendly and attentive staff. My stay started off a little rocky. There were some housekeeping issues with my room when I arrived. However, the front office manager Mr. O’Sullivan listened to my concerns and had them corrected while I was out enjoying the sunny San Francisco day. Upon returning to my room that evening it was perfect. The front desk staff were very knowledgeable and super friendly whenever I asked for assistance. The architecture is amazing!! Don’t miss brunch (or breakfast) in the Garden Court Restaurant under the stunning glass dome. Also, treat yourself to a cocktail at the iconic Pied Piper bar - apparently the artwork is very famous. I would highly recommend staying here when you visit beautiful San Francisco!

Very classy hotel and marvelous staff
I checked into the hotel and was stunned by the glamour and class of the lobby. Really felt like a palace. I was given a warm welcome and I was lucky to get the palace suite on the eight floor. The suite was awesome with a large living room and separate bedroom with a large bathroom and Japanese style toilet. Really makes life easier. Unfortunately the bed was very high and very comfortable but I couldn’t complain. The suite is in the corner so you get great views. However this is where my anguish started and the reason for not giving my review five stars. Ever since we arrived there was a constant disturbance of very loud noise due to the workers going on strike. It didn’t stop during night time either and made my life miserable and very difficult to get my work done. I would have been much happier if the hotel had informed me beforehand so that I could have stayed elsewhere as this really affected me. It’s a real pity that I couldn’t give it five stars as the staff were simply awesome. As a titanium elite member I chose breakfast as my amenity. The restaurant was beautiful but the breakfast very basic and average. A plus point was the internet TV where I could get YouTube and Netflix. Once again I would like to emphasize that this is an awesome and beautiful hotel but my stay was marred by the strike and clamour

Safety hazard in the pool
We picked the Palace Hotel specifically for the indoor pool. My kids like to swim and have fun at the pool when we stay at a hotel. Staff was friendly. Everything was fine until my son stepped on a nail inside the pool. A metal nail? Seriously?! Never thought such thing would happen at a hotel, not to mention a luxury hotel. Thank goodness it was a small nail and he wasn't seriously injured. We informed the hotel management immediately.

Excellent stay and a gorgeous hotel - we will be back!
The Palace Hotel is a fabulous choice to stay. The staff was amazing and made us feel welcomed and well cared for during our stay. Truly a team of professionals all around from our first encounter with the doorman as we walked to the front door to a very warm welcoming from Scott on the front desk. Scott was terrific and knowledgeable about all of places we wanted to visit on our trip. Scott provided a wonderful Platinum member upgrade and a sweet surprise of chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling water delivered to our suite. Connie from the Concierge desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Not only did she have great local advice, she was able to reserve and confirm our 4:00 AM taxi to the airport for us with complete ease and professionalism. We enjoyed breakfast everyday of our visit at the Garden Court Restaurant and our waitress Elena was wonderful and provided superb service each day. Awesome housekeeping team, very friendly and accommodating staff.
