Unbelievable bad experience
Worst lifetime hotel experience. A big part of the common area was closed due to renovation, continuous breaker noises, the rooms old and outdated, smelly, bad mattresses, complaints were ignored.

Wonderful
Wonderful stay at the Outrigger Reef. Enjoyed two 4-night stays at the hotel in March/April 2026. Views from the oceanfront rooms were spectacular, with sunsets on the balcony every evening. The two rooms were thoroughly clean and beds extremely comfortable. Hotel feels very well maintained and modern. All staff extremely welcoming and warm, from the moment one steps out at valet, to check in, to the club lounge, to the housekeeping team. Everyone makes such an effort for the guests. They all make it feel just like a home from home. Even though it is on the beach, and in Waikiki, the room with balcony was like a haven in Hawaii. One feels very at ease and relaxed in this place. Fantastic hotel. Highly recommend.

A wonderful stay with outstanding customer service
Dear Management Team, I’m writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service we received during our recent stay at your Honolulu property. Rick, who works at the front desk, truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. Over the course of two days, he took the time and care to help us secure an upgraded room with a stunning view of Diamond Head—far exceeding our original partial ocean view booking. His dedication, patience, and genuine desire to help did not go unnoticed. What stood out most was Rick’s commitment to customer satisfaction. He consistently followed up, kept us informed, and handled everything with professionalism and warmth. It’s rare to encounter someone so willing to go the extra mile, and his efforts made a meaningful difference in our stay. Because of Rick, our trip became even more memorable, and we are incredibly grateful. Please recognize him for his outstanding work—he is a true asset to your team. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful stay in Outrigger Paradise
As we landed in Honolulu the excitement and anticipation were there, with us waiting to see how the Outrigger had changed since our previous visit and to see what old friends were still working there and if the character and feel of the hotel remained. It was not until we had landed in Honolulu that the full effects of the Storms were evident and our initial thoughts were with the People of Oahu. Getting off the plan we were greeted by traditional British weather, which we had hoped to have escaped with the UK just coming out of the wettest winter for many years The weather was not an issue and as we drove in the taxi to the Outrigger, we started to feel the Ohana and when we entered the hotel, we felt like we were back “home” The Bell team were there to greet our arrival and were as efficient as ever, as soon as the Taxi drew up, they were there taking our names and setting about collecting the bags and taking them to storage ready for our room allocation. We made the familiar walk to the reception to check in and we observed the Outrigger Canoe sitting there , like an old friend , and just behind was a seating area complete with an array of seating and furniture and Board games , this was an area where we and many other guests would share holiday time throughout our Holiday listening to music from the Kana Pila Grill or talking with fellow guests. The games were an innovative idea, particularly considering some of the weather encountered during the first week of the holiday At reception we noticed another familiar face from previous vacations , Kahani, who we have seen over many years staying at the Outrigger develop from working in the Voyager Lounge and now an established face on the Front Desk , good staff progression and retention and a real positive and lovely to catch up with her during the Trip Onto reception and we were greeted by Frank an old friend and familiar face from previous visits, Frank, greeted us warmly and was soon calling us by name and arranging our check in Frank was excellent arranged everything and our room was ready and waiting The bell team brought the bags to our room straight away and settled us in. Our Housekeeper Lily was there on hand too and immediately asked if we had any requirements and ensured that we had everything we needed for the Holiday. Nothing was too much of a problem and a Kettle for making English tea was promptly delivered to the room Throughout our stay the Bell team were extremely efficient and dealt with all of our needs, questions and requirements. The room was superb great ocean view and view of Diamond Head. From the balcony we were able to watch the Turtles swimming out the front of the Outrigger. The balcony was a nice play just to chill on occasion , enjoy the sun and the ambience of Oahu We found that being a discovery club 47 Platinum member was a definite plus and provided some key benefits which we were able to take advantage of . Thanks to Christopher weeks who was always there with a welcoming smile and provided help , advice and assistance during our trip It was in the voyager Lounge where we would eat breakfast and often attend for afternoon cocktails and appetizers The Breakfast meal and drinks selection served up was excellent with plenty of Variety for everybody, from Hot or cold selections, a meal which would set you up for the day ahead We were greeted warmly each day by Frank or another of the friendly Hotel Team and they welcomed us by name and discussed the days plans and offered advice and suggestions. All subjects and things from weather updates to special events and happenings , along with suggestions The waiting staff were excellent, extremely hard working and enthusiastic in their work, ensuring plates and glasses were cleared away expeditiously and attending to any needs or requirements. Special mention for Dora, a new addition to the team but who we believe will become invaluable. The birds did not appear to be such an issue as on previous visits , with their numbers down on previous visits. Good to see the use of Trollies for the serving staff The evening drinks and aperitives in the Discovery 47 again didn’t disappoint with a wide selection of food and drink readily available . This area really helped to bring all guests together and provided a great place to eat and drink and meet other guests , creating a lovely experience The Discovery 47 Lounge was particularly well managed and Organised given the extreme weather conditions, with all gusts being catered for when required out of the weather The view from the Discovery Area was beautiful and it was extremely nice to witness the evening Sunset, wonderful Photo opportunity. The Walk through the Hotel was good with the Hotel shop areas fully filled with New Shops and businesses, with the Gallery worthy of particular mention. Also , there was an ABC shop now on site and the Starbucks at the front Entrance to the Hotel. So all guests needs and requirements handily catered for. Throughout our stay the Hotel was kept extremely clean , -Credit to all the staff for this House keeping was excellent and the room was kept spotlessly clean and tidy and any requirements or needs being addressed. Onto the Pool area , where the team ran a very Efficient and Friendly set up here . Towels were always readily available , Sun beds were kept clean and were always available , with the Team always ready to move them around as appropriate to ensure guests could use them . Umbrellas were always welcome. Pool and Hot Tub were kept clean and area around the Sun Beds and pool surround was continually being reviewed and kept clean and tidy. The Pool Side Service from the Kani Pila Grill was good and the addition of the QR code menus a welcome additional . There were dining opportunities in the Hotel , on the one hand there was the Kana Pila Grill , with Traditional Hawaiian Music Nightly . The food , Drink and Ambience was exceptional and all credit to June and the Team. Whether it was a Full sit down Meal or drinks at the Bar a wonderful experience The eating opportunities within the Hotel are supplemented at the other end across the Pool by the Monkey Pod Restaurant situated where the old Shorebird used to be, with views out to the Beach / waterfront .. It still makes us reminisce back to the “Old Days” of the Shorebird , but it was noticeable that the Monkey Pod was now well established and there was a good Vibe across the Whole area from end to end. The Monkey Pod offered a unique experience offering great food and drinks along with Music entertainment, which will undoubtably grow from strength to strength over the years During our stay we were fortunate to see Turtles. Good to see the Environment and its inhabitants being looked after. The water bottles in the Hotel rooms doing away with Plastic water bottles again enforced the Hotels efforts for a Greener vacation, good work The Hotel and all of its staff should be complimented for their attention to detail , Professionalism , Efficiency ,Empathy ,and they way they went about their tasks with a Smile on their faces , they helped to make this a Wonderful stay. It is the attention to detail , empathy and small things which set the Outrigger apart from many other hotels. The Hotel maintains its Family spirit and continues to offer cultural activities The biggest concern remains the rising tide levels at the front of the hotel .Over the years the Tide levels continue to rise and we remain intrigued and interested to see what considerations , and plans the Outrigger and indeed other hotels across the Beach front are discussing to address this scenario Great Stay, can’t wait to return Mahalo
