Jan 01, 2025Lovely resort with great pool area and nice amenities
We've stayed at the Honua Kai resort many times, and have always enjoyed our stay. We love the grounds, the location and the overall ambiance of the resort, and the amenities are very nice. On our most recent visit however, our Hakulani suite had a number of issues including non-functioning appliances and inadequate kitchenware. We actually had to purchase cooking pans to be able to prepare meals, as the two pans that were in the suite were in terrible shape. We also had issues with the washing machine and dryer, in-room safe, and the ice maker in the refrigerator, each which required a service call. The maintenance staff was very professional though, and quick to respond. Such was not the case with the front desk, as our calls often went unanswered, forcing us to walk downstairs to request assistance in person. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but the issues with the suite did somewhat dampen the overall experience, as our previous stays in the Konea tower had always been exceptional.

We can’t say enough about this place! We were there in a 4 th floor 2 bedroom ocean view — for 9days/ 8 nights with 2 adults and our young adult sons 23 and 22 and daughter 20, and loved the spacious layout with full kitchen and living room with folding doors to open the whole room to the lanai . The view was gorgeous day and night and we could even see whales from our balcony! Staff was all very friendly and would get us towels or soap or anything we needed quickly. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away and relax in a beautiful setting.

Nice place to stay on Kaanapali Beach, close to restaurants, grocery store, some shopping but it was definitely not the experience that we had hoped for. We booked an ocean and pool view room but they put us on the ground floor looking at the back wall of the restaurant. The only way they could accommodate what they already "sold" us was for us to pay an extra $1,000. So we paid the extra and they put us in a unit with great views but the air conditioner didn't work in one of the bedrooms, one of the doors didn't work, one of the TVs didn't work and all of the furniture was outdated. There was also not nearly enough pool chairs for the size of the place. Things were very misrepresented and feeling like they intentionally took advantage of the situation.

Villas: Wonderful Experience
This review is for the Luana Villas. We cannot say enough about how special this property is. Spacious enough to accommodate 5 adults and one teen very comfortably for well over a week. A semi-private pool just steps away. Benefits of being on a large resort property without all of the people (spa, concierge, convenience shop, etc). Highly recommend! A few small watch-outs to consider with this luxury experience: 1. Would be very nice to have a Smart TV in the living room to allow guests to stream what they want to watch. While we normally do not watch TV on holiday, the vibe of this place was so comfy that there were nights we stayed in and made dinner and wanted to watch a movie. We could only do it by going out to buy an HDMI cable and connecting to a MAC. This is a miss. 2. Housekeeping is only available for a $300 fee. So if you stay for awhile (we were there 12 nights) you end up doing a lot of laundry for towels. It would be great to offer a turn of sheets and towels if you're there more than a week. Again, highly, highly recommend this property. Can't wait to go back!

Best rental condo in Maui!
We rent from Maui Resort Rentals and always reserve Honua Kai Konea room 214. Kathy, is the owner and she keeps this place well equipped. Towel rental, wifi, beach chairs and umbrella are all in the room for you to use during your stay as well as BBQ grill kit. The kitchen is stocked with spices, cutlery, service for 8 (so we don't have to do dishes everyday), and even a blender. It has a huge deck with a mountain view. Love this place!
