A Dominican paradise
5 of us (2 couples and a friend) stayed at Barcelo Occidental Punta Cana for our spring break week. We felt it was fairly priced, had a variety of bars and restaurants, and was a decently sized resort. The pool areas were beautiful ,and we were always able to find chairs during the day. The beach was our absolute favorite! We did try to go out earlier in the day to find chairs, but had no trouble grabbing some and moving them if needed. Food in all restaurants was average; pretty typical for an all-inclusive in the DR. We were always able to find something even if we didn't like the main food choices they had on the buffet. Our favorite dinner restaurant was the Mexican place, Hacienda. The food was our outstanding, and we ended up eating there twice during the week. The small pizza place that opens at 4pm was also delicious. Our rooms were average. They were clean and we had no issues. The servers in restaurants and bars were all great. Overall, we would recommend this resort and will possibly return. The beautiful beach area makes up for anything the resort itself lacked!

I have travelled to so many all inclusive resorts and this was the worst experience. Everything, had a horrible experience. They need better WiFi, food, more English speaking people, get rid of those long pillows, softer beds, allow more people to walk into restaurant instead of requiring reservations, have more pizza topping options like Italian sausage at La pizzeria, offer bacon in breakfast buffet, and make fixing ac a priority . Stop running out of mint, bananas, tequila, straws, and anything else. Have pool open past 7pm. Have more towels they kept running out and refused to give me quantity asked for. Lied and said no face towels but one day they he me 1 for 4 people. I wasted too much of my vacation time waiting on AC people to come. Then day 2 they said they did not want to fix.

Love this resort with royal level option. I truthfully would not stay without reserving royal level.
