Requirements for Weddings in Costa Rica
Birth Certificates of both (Bride and Groom): Original and copy
Passport: Original and copy
Certificate of civil state: Single state certificate of the home country. Final divorce decree if either party is divorced, death certificate if either part is widowed. Only originals.
Two witnesses: They cannot be relatives. (If the bride and groom do not bring their own witnesses, the hotel can provide them)
Additional information: Occupation, addresses, nationalities, ages, of both, bride and groom and witnesses.
The bride and groom must be at the property at least 4 days prior to the wedding date, in order to finalize the necessary paper work.
Ceremony must be scheduled with officials at least one month in advance.

The rooms are average and very dated. Maintenance issues as soon as we arrived. The staff is absolutely worthless. They apparently don't care about the guests. Management is completely inept. No transportation to anywhere one might purchase needed items. The nearest populated area is over 5km away and is not a safe walk due to traffic on the rural roads. Not even an ATM in the hotel. No way this is a 5-star hotel. I'd barely give it 3 on a good day. Today (or apparently any other day) isn't a good day. Do not recommend.

Highly recommend massage at the spa
I highly recommend the massage and treatments at the spa. Lorena and Dana are amazing and always manage to find all the kinks in my sore muscles and work them out. Visiting the spa is always one of the highlights of my trip to the Occidental Papagayo. And Lorena and Dana and their massage skills is a big part of why we return here every year!

Staff was 50/50 on politeness and efficiency. Room not ready upon check in time. No set schedule for room cleaning/had to call for room to be cleaned or for towels to be replaced. When certain folks were asked to do their job, they were snobby and down right rude. If you asked for something, it was like you were asking them to pull their own teeth. You cannot order a drink at one bar, then order the same drink at another, bartenders are very inconsistent. The landscaping and beach are awesome!!
