  Older but very nice resort

  Stayed only one night but after the previous 6 nights traveling and staying in BnB's this hotel felt very luxurious. The beach and grounds are beautiful. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The buffet was good enough to always find something tasty (the roast pig was amazing at dinner). Even though there were some families, the resort was quiet and civilized. If it was newer I would rate it 5 stars.

  I m feel abused here

  ⸻ I am currently staying at Barceló Nuevo Vallarta. I have been a member for many years, and this is not my first time here. I still have four days left, and I have reached the point where I honestly don’t even know what to eat anymore. I went twice to the Mexican restaurant, and both times they completely forgot about me. During one of those visits, no one wanted to bring me mayonnaise because, according to the staff, the manager would not release the order. I waited and waited until one waiter finally brought it to me, but it was already too late. I finally stood up and left. A gentleman named Ricardo Arce, who looks like he is carrying all the problems of this hotel on his shoulders, tried to fix the situation. Unfortunately, when I returned that same night, the service was even worse. Something is clearly wrong — there is very poor management here. My bad experiences started the moment I arrived. The man who brought my luggage made me feel uncomfortable because the tip was not in U.S. dollars. After that, the air conditioning in my room did not work. A young employee came and said it was not working at all. If it hadn’t been for the girls after reception — I believe their names are Gabriela and Yimel — my experience would have been much worse. She acted quickly and changed my room. Before that, I had called reception about 10 times, and no one did anything until she actually listened to me. I am writing this while I am still here, and honestly, all I want is my money back. If you can avoid staying at this hotel, do it. On top of everything, I arrived very hungry at the Japanese restaurant because I could not eat at the Mexican restaurant. The place was almost empty, and they still told me I could not enter, even after I explained that I had not eaten. There are many other issues, but this has been enough to completely ruin what should have been a relaxing stay.

  Nuevo Vallarta December 2025

  This is a great place for the price. The beach is beautiful and very walkable. The rooms are very comfortable with plenty of storage so it isn't cluttered. There is a large safe in the room with space for your lap top. The bathroom is very nice but could use some work on the door to keep it from leaking. There is a refrigerator stocked with beer, soda, water and snacks which are replenish daily in no cost. Lighting is more than adequate. The WIFI was great all over the resort. The ala carte restaurants were very good. The service has great. The pool was clean but at this time of year the water could have been warmer. It was doable but you couldn't stay in it as long as I like. Nuevo Vallarta is a very nice location. There is a mall and bank less than a block away. Every Tuesday during the winter, there is a Flee Market by the hospital which you can see from the resort. This was our 8th trip to Occidental Nuevo Vallarta and we will go back again.

  AMAZING!!!!

  Ramseys and Rony are the best ever!!! They were so hospitable and kind and made the best drinks. They were super amazing with family and keeping a family friendly environment.

  Lovely stay

  Lovely stay! Great food, lovely kept grounds, friendly staff. Only minor issue was the room windows do not open but A/C works great! And our shower was cool mostly. But we would absolutely stay here again!
