Great place for a quick getaway

I must say I fully enjoyed my 5 night stay at this resort. This is probably my 6th time visiting Mexico for vacation/spring break and I think this resort was my favorite of all. If you are looking for opulent luxury in a large, expansive resort, this is not it. The resort has one, centrally located pool with restaurants and entertainment all around it. The beach is just steps away. I'd say that for me, the following four attributes made this resort stand out: 1) The proximity to everything you need without spending countless steps to reach your room, restaurant or the beach 2) Service was exceptional; Every single employee of the resort was very attentive, friendly, welcoming and really hard-working. 3) Cleanliness. The resort is not new, but every section of it was well maintained and really clean, including fantastic and quiet AC. 4) The Bars: great selection of drinks with quick and friendly service. Remember that this resort is in Cancun, so you cannot compare it to those along Riviera Maya as it does not have the same space or beach as those, but it was everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Great value for your money and a fantastic way to "recharge your batteries" in a tropical paradise. Keep up the good work Occidental Costa Cancun!

    Good value for the money

The service is very good, hotel clean with very good AC and an awesome shower in our room. This is an older property, so don’t expect luxury, but they are doing their best with what they have. I wouldn’t bother with the themed restaurant - they rarely are good at all inclusive and these are no exception. The food is OK at the buffet with whole fried fish being my absolute favorite. I wish they hired a pastry chef, introduced more fruit and cheeses, but the food is fresh. Free kayaks and paddle boards for your use. The beach is right next to the ferry canal, so it’s not exactly an eco beach, but makes for good people watching.

    Amazing Trip, Awesome Hotel!!

We had an amazing trip! Excellent service - the staff is efficient, courteous and helpful. The hotel has so much character, we love the authentic style building. It’s clean and comfortable. The buffet provided amazing service, interesting selection of food where you can usually find something that you want. High quality, never felt sick. A La Carte restaurants had great food too, but you have to book 2 days in advance and do it asap or it will all be gone. We’d highly recommend this hotel!

Get what you pay for which isn’t much

we booked two nights at the Occidental after staying at another resort at the beginning of the week. The occidental was a major downgrade. All you’re looking for is a pool some sand and drinks then you’ll probably be fine but if you’re looking for good food, a beautiful atmosphere and attentive staff this is the place

A great relaxing stay at the Costa Cancun

Just spent a lovely 2 weeks here at the Occidental Costa Cancún. I would like to say thank you to all the staff who work there and helped to give us a great holiday. In particular, Pedro who helped me with my booking and arranged THE best room in the hotel for me, Sheyla in Guest Services for her assistance, Adilena who did a wonderful job cleaning my room, Maria from the buffet restaurant who always greeted everyone with a beautiful smile and was so helpful, along with mi amigo Milli Vanilly the waiter, mi amigo, who was such a nice friendly helpful waiter there. Last but not least Sandra Cruz the lobby bar waitress, so hard working but always found time to share a laugh. But really, everyone there worked like trojans, especially as we had the spring breakers there at the same time, thanks to the bar staff of both bars for fitting me in between serving all those shots and cocktails! As the hotel is a little on the small side, it did feel a bit cramped when it was full but I still had a great time, and compliments to the cooks/chefs. Surprisingly good quality food and a reasonable variety to keep us interested, and the important thing, no stomach upsets whatsoever! And I lost count the number of nights I went to bed and woke up later with the lights still on as the bed was so comfortable! I have to say this friendly, comfortable hotel gives fantastic value considering the room rates, so thanks very much and hope to see you all again sometime! There was always a sunlounger on the beach, and the sea was calm, clean and shallow. no more than chest high and had a sandy floor and a lifeguard on duty all day. I enjoyed watching the various boats coming and going from the small harbour next door. Very handy for the ferry to Isla Mujeres and other boat trips, though some might not like the very occasional whiff of diesel and petrol fumes.
