Amazing Stay at Occidental Xcaret: A Perfect Getaway for Foodies & Beach Lovers

I recently spent several relaxing days at this hotel with my senior parents, and the experience was truly exceptional. Everything exceeded my expectations. This resort is an excellent choice not just for couples but is also a wonderful place for older guests and seniors looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and engaging vacation. The expansive grounds, while large, offer many well-maintained walkways and paths that are lovely for gentle strolls, and the availability of elevators is a huge plus for those who need them. We also felt very safe and secure throughout our entire stay. If you are a beach lover or a foodie, you will adore this location. Beyond the great cuisine, the hotel offers excellent nightly shows and even has an on-premises disco for a fun night out. It was the perfect place to achieve the relaxation I was looking for. Outstanding Service and Dedicated Staff The service across the resort is truly outstanding. The people here work really hard to please every guest, and their dedication is evident in every detail. Tip: Reliable, Free Airport Transfers! A very important detail for future guests: I was a bit hesitant about transportation as a first-time visitor to Mexico and a first-time guest at this hotel, but I found their Airport Transfer Service to be super reliable and efficient. If you book through Barcelo.com, as part of the booking process they offer a free shuttle service from the Airport to this hotel and back. Be sure to select this option when booking! Our transportation experience with them was flawless. Special thank you to Mr. Castro, Nayeli Torija, and Edgar Lopaz for their excellent logistics support and ensuring my transfer experience was flawless. We are already planning to return at the earliest opportunity!

    Another very good experience!

I was checked into Building 22 for my two week stay from November 15 to November 29. I don't drink a lot so the beverage aspect was not that important to me. The meals were generally OK with some standout meals at the a-la-carte restaurants, particularly Pescador - the fish restaurant above the swim up bar. My assigned room was spotless and cleaned and restocked with water and soft drinks everyday. The Housekkeping at this resort is impeccable! The grounds and pools are superbly maintained. I have been going to this resort since 2009 the nightly show quality has become very thin. Budgets for this must be very tight. The entire staff interaction experience was exceptional A special word of thanks for two of the concierge located in the lobby of my Building almost every day. Giovanna and Andrea were two of the sweetest, friendliest staff members I can recently recall. Whether making restaurant reservations or looking after my room needs they both made me feel welcomed and were so attentive to whatever I needed. They always greeted me with a smile when leaving or entering the building. I am so grateful for all their work.

nice hotel good staff excessive noise when it comes to building maintenance.

stayed at the occidental xcaret. we had went as part of a work trip sort of our Christmas bonus. I guess all start with the good things. it really was a beautifully hotel great pools, great walking paths, cool ruins, staff was very helpful and respectfully. the spa was pretty incredible as well next level service and highly skilled for sure. the rooms and hotel where definitely super clean witch is always a plus. All that stuff really was very good. Now the down sides. Food was really mediocre at best. went to la buffet, Paco's tacos, pizzaria, Italian restaurant, steak house, and the Mexican restaurant, beach restaurant and ordered room service (would highly recommend never ordering room service food on average took almost 1h to 1.5h to get to room and quite frankly McDonald's has better tasting food for sure). So the restaurant did have great service but like I said food itself was extremely low standard. its like they where trying to be fancy but definitely fell really short. also jurn my stay they where doing a lot of construction around building 21. witch I understand need to happen for sure but jack hammering concrete right outside of the building for 2 days for 4h to 5h a day was a little much. they also where doing work on the roof of my building jurn the last 2 days witch once again I understand but after getting beat up in the sun all week its really sucked that I couldn't relax in my room because they where literally shaking the whole building as they where working on it. Pretty much the noise level jurn the day in regards to construction and building maintenance is next level high. Just a heads up, the all inclusive part is almost all inclusive not actually all inclusive but that to be expected to a certain extent. In conclusion I would say for the price point it does have a lot of value for sure and I ultimately did have a good time with my stay for sure. Full disclosure I am a a single guy with no kids. So if I was going to come back to Mexico I would definitely stay at a different resort. Based off of that it really is a resort geered twords families with children. Honestly if I had kids and a family it would probably be a good fit.

We were quite satisfied with our stay. Resort needs an upgrade but we’re working on some while we were there. Unlimited water bottles available at all bars and restocking of room fridge which was awesome. Don’t have to carry around with you from the room. Nice jungle setting with animals (monkeys iguanas etc) located next to Xcaret which is not included in resort - some things you read suggest that it may be. Would stay again. Didn’t get tired of food and stayed 10 days. Mexican a la carte was disappointing especially being in Mexico. Italian and oriental amazing! Lots of pool choices and had no problems getting lounge chairs we wanted. Broken lounge chairs at beach need to be removed and not set out as could be dangerous.

    Occidental at Xcaret Destination

The outdoor of the resort is very beautiful. Our room experience was not the greatest as the room smelled very moist/humid. We saw what seemed to be black mold on the cover of the AC Vent (not sure if it was black mold or dust, black mold was our guess). Housekeeping did not do a good job in leaving clean towels for us to use after showering. Spent 3 nights, the first night they left clean towels, nights 2 and 3 no clean towels.
