Exceptional staff at the Royal level
The staff at the Royal level was excellent. Silvia and Andrea helped us with our accommodation and were very polite and answered all our questions quickly and efficiently. A few days later wanted to change our room to an ocean view, and Iris helped us to make that happen. Alesha was another staff member who always helped us with any requests, and we had a great time interacting with them. We also got to know Sandra, the boss, who was also very kind and happy with the all the staff’ s professionalism and our experiences. We have talked with other guests, and they also agreed that the staff makes the Royal level exceptional. 5 stars to all the staff. Robert & Barb from Vancouver, Canada

DONT GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR
don't get what you paid for, more concerned about selling time share and activities/tours then addressing issues at hand. our house manager Rebecca would ask you same question everyday and we would express our concerns and nothing was handled.

Used to be a much better resort
Love the wild animals roaming the resort. The food quality has gone down hill over the years, especially since Barcello bought the property. The staff is great, but the property is in desperate need of repair. It is too bad that so many Europeans vacation at this resort. They don't follow the rules, they smoke where they want even it it isn't allowed. They party all night and keep the other guest up.They are just plain rude and staff really can't do much about it.l

Occidental accidental tomato tomato
We stayed here for five nights over Christmas 2025 — three families, nine people in total — all geared up for swimming, adventure and a great holiday. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be a mix of highlights and some pretty underwhelming surprises. Check-in set the tone right away: slow, bureaucratic, and with passports being copied in a way that doesn’t really align with how personal data is handled in Europe. GDPR clearly hasn’t made its way across the Atlantic yet. We had also been told by Barceló via email that a park pass would “cover everything”. It didn’t. The hotel and the parks are obviously separate operations — so if you plan on visiting the parks, buy your tickets through the official website, not the hotel. The rooms were clean and tidy, if a bit dated. Totally fine overall — and as a bonus, we were immediately greeted by a curious spider monkey on the balcony. Funny, charming and slightly shocking all at once. The main restaurant unfortunately has the acoustics of a concrete hall. You pretty much have to shout across the table, even though the staff are great — friendly, attentive and very helpful. The buffet is large with plenty to choose from, but not much that reaches top quality. The beach restaurant has a nicer atmosphere, but with a smaller selection. Quick ratings: • Breakfast: 3/5 • Lunch: 2/5 • Dinner: 3/5 We also tried the various themed restaurants. The big advantage was simply a quieter environment — the food itself didn’t really stand out, and getting a reservation was more of a mission than a holiday convenience. The hotel grounds are lovely, with lots of wildlife and greenery. Tennis, padel and the gym were easy to access (even if the 16+ age limit at the gym felt unnecessarily strict). We could play every day — probably because most American guests seemed more focused on managing their diabetes than on getting any exercise. A major downside for us was that there’s no real ocean swimming. Instead, there’s an artificial lagoon, which isn’t ideal if you love the open sea. The pools are large and pleasant though, especially for families with small children. Less charming was Barceló’s constant push for time-share style deals and endless upgrades. Whatever you’ve already paid for — there always seems to be a “slightly better package” just around the corner. So: if you like big resorts with lots of people, easy pool access and an all-inclusive vibe, this might be your place. But if you’re looking for the ocean, calm surroundings and a more genuine atmosphere, there are better options out there. Would we go back? No. 🙅
- AdvisoryThe hotel is implementing the reservation scheme for their specialty restaurants according to the number of nights of lodging of each reservation. The above in order to ensure a better service and logistics of guest service.
