Wonderful week away!
Along with my children, I met up with a very good friend and her young daughter. I chose this resort because it was on the smaller side compared to most of the massive resorts and because it had more of a boutique feel. We had a wonderful week away, the weather was absolutely fantastic along with all of what this resort had to offer. The staff were wonderful, drinks were great (so much option), coffee was amazing and the food was fabulous (I loved the daily pool side options). The resort was perfect for young children (wish there were a few more activity options for older kids) but all things considered it was a fantastic trip!

Great intimate resort for families looking to get away and spend some much needed R&R together
Just wanted to say for small families 5-6 and younger this resort is perfect. It's a smaller more intimate resort so getting around is super convenient. The restaurants are all semi decent, depending on what you're looking for. The Italian we found a little bland, the grill had good steaks and the international was our favorite. Mariana was the activities coordinator and she was amazing. Bringing the vibes and energy with everything she did and keeping everyone entertained and engaged. There is no night club and the bars cost around 1 so it's not the party resort of that's what you're looking for, but for families with Littles, the waterslide are awesome, the pool is fantastic, the beach is incredible and well maintained and we never had to fight for beach chairs. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Great experience
Fantastic experience. The staff was unbelievably helpful. Reyes has done a great job in improving things from last year. The new beach concierge Cesar is extremely helpful and does a fantastic job. If you want great drinks, Manuel, the bartender at the beach bar is superb. Leaders were all attentive and friendly. Guillermo and Andre’s are great TripAdvisor

Dream Vacation at Melia Casa Maya Cancún
A Perfect Family Getaway We travelled as a group of three — myself, my 5-year-old son, and my mother who has mobility issues and uses a walker. I gave my travel agent very specific criteria: small resort, family-focused, accessible, beautiful beach, and good food. She absolutely delivered the perfect match. A big thank you to Christina at Centre Holidays (Christina@centreholidays.com) for truly listening and finding us exactly what we needed. ⸻ Travel We flew with Sunwing (now operating with WestJet). Flights were on time both ways and everything went smoothly. The only downside was no charging capability on the flight home — I recommend bringing a portable charger just in case. ⸻ Check-In Quick, easy, and stress-free. A great start to our vacation. ⸻ The Resort Experience Beach The beach is absolutely stunning — soft white sand and crystal-clear water. It was windy most days, so we often saw yellow or red flags, but my son and I still swam daily and had a wonderful time. Truly one of the highlights of the trip. ⸻ Family Activities This resort is genuinely focused on families with young children. There is a kids’ club (my little guy was too shy to join), but there were multiple activities scheduled every day. We participated in: • Water balloon fights • A foam party • Pirate shows • Face painting • Balloon animals The entertainment team was fantastic — energetic, organized, and constantly announcing activities so no one missed out. They created such a fun and inclusive atmosphere. ⸻ Pool We spent most of our time at the main pool. One side is shallow and perfect for kids, while the other side is about 5 feet deep. The music was great and added to the lively but still family-friendly vibe. The resort was at full capacity during our stay, so seating around the pool could be difficult. However, Ceasar truly made our week. Once he understood my mother needed accessible seating, he helped us secure two chairs daily in a convenient location for her walker. His kindness and consistency made a huge difference for us. Drinks were excellent — margaritas, piña coladas, mango slushies (all highly recommended!). There is no swim-up bar, but there are multiple serving areas beside the pool and attentive servers walking around taking orders. The atmosphere remained fun but never rowdy — I didn’t see anyone overly intoxicated all week. ⸻ Food We had breakfast at the buffet every morning. The food was consistently delicious, and the 11 a.m. closing time was perfect for relaxed mornings. For lunch and dinner, we rotated between the buffet, the grill, and Cape Nao — our favorite restaurant on site. We truly ate like foodies. We even enjoyed tartare without any issues. We never got sick, and we didn’t hear of anyone else getting sick either. Special shout-out to Ivan at Cape Nao for exceptional service. The only venue we didn’t love was the Italian restaurant — simply not our personal style. ⸻ Tips & Helpful Information • Ice cream cones are served at the side door of the grill — don’t miss them! • If you forget anything, Uber Eats delivers to the front desk. We ordered pool toys, Lego, lotion, and a few essentials at much lower prices than the hotel shop. Everything arrived within an hour. • We chose not to leave the resort due to current conflicts in parts of Mexico and my mother’s mobility needs. We felt completely safe the entire time and were fully entertained within the resort all week. ⸻ Accessibility & Atmosphere I saw many multi-generational families — grandparents, young children, and even guests using wheelchairs or canes, including visually impaired children. The layout worked well for accessibility. If you visited this property before it became Meliá and was renovated, the vibe may feel different now. It is clearly centered around families with small children. There is no traditional theatre — shows happen in the open space by the pool or on the beach. I didn’t attend the disco, but I can confidently say I never heard noise from my room past 9 p.m., which was ideal with a young child. ⸻ Final Thoughts I personally loved this resort. It met all of our criteria: manageable size, family-focused, accessible for my mother, beautiful beach, and consistently good food. We will absolutely be returning next year.
