Yeah no - Melia has ruined Casa Maya
Meh this place really sucks… Been coming to Casa Maya for years, yeah it was dated…but it did its job and had “heart”. Would periodically get some things that were awesome, like these handmade tortillas and this awesome green juice for breakfast… Now it’s Melia - they put some money into the facade and updated the lobby and pool areas…it’s fine. The rooms feel exactly the same…so you can tell they care more about the “look” than the “feel”. So this time, had a lot of things that just made the experience a net negative. We like our sleeping temp to be pretty cold - I hate the new “eco” trend (aka electricity savings in disguise) of limiting your temp to 19 Celsius. I call BS even if it made it to 19, as soon as the AC was turned off the room registers 21 degrees in 20 minutes. So we sweated, were uncomfortable and slept worse than at home. Great vacation…yay! The bed is hard af, the pillows suck, the kitchen doesn’t give you towels or even salt and pepper…it’s probably one of the worst accommodated “suites” I’ve experienced. The internet sucks - it’s 2025, it’s a basic need anymore and it goes in and out. I’m here writing this review from the beach from the WiFi from the Breathless next door, look at the distance between these places…there is no way the Breathless could give me better WiFi on the PROPERTY of the Melia…lol…come on. There used to be tons of huts to lay under and I swear they removed half of them. So everything is crowded and you need to hit the beach at 7a to get a good chair. Then just service, everyone acts like you’re a chore. Housekeeping staff were about the only people actually friendly - which is normally 100% the opposite. Flight got delayed and they wouldn’t allow us to have a one hour late checkout, yeah just basic niceties that most properties allow their guests. We didn’t do the all inclusive…hearing from people we chatted with, it sucked too. Basic ass fare (lol the burgers looked like a complete joke), watered down drinks, catering to the least common denominator…nah just skip that at the prices they charge. Why pay for all inclusive when there are some amazing tacos walking distance away? I’d love to see nothing more than this play fail and Melia to loose their investment…after 10+ visits, this is surely our last and suggest you don’t make it your first!

Melia Cara Maya best trip
We stayed at Melia Casa Maya and it was the most amazing trip. Jorge working in the buffet was the best and went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Most of the staff was polite and helpful
We like the location and the beach. AC was pretty noisy but we changed for a more quiet room. Most of the staff was polite and helpful. My friend and I got to know one of the young staff members Giovanni who was not only doing his job, he made our evenings in the buffet more enjoyable.

The best of Cancun: Meliá Casa Maya
"We spent five incredible days at the Meliá Casa Maya with my wife and two children. If you're looking for a family hotel in Cancun, this is an unbeatable option. The highlight of our stay: What truly elevated our experience was the food, and this is largely thanks to Chef Silvestre. He's a fantastic person, incredibly attentive and professional; you can tell he's passionate about what he does. He made sure every meal was top-notch and always had a kind word for us, paying attention to even the smallest detail in the dishes. Thank you, Chef, for making our dinners so special!"
