Beach is gorgeous, no Night entertainment
I’ll start with the good: -The beach was truly beautiful. Most importantly, it was so clean! We walked 2km down the beach and the beach there was full of seaweed.. Meliá maintained the beach extremely well! -There were lots of beach chairs and shade for those who want/ need it. -You need a card to get a beach towel, but the towels are huge and thick. -The pool area is large, very nice pool and was always clean! The swim up bar served great drinks. -The rooms are really big. Double the size of a hotel room. They were pretty dated but clean. The beds and pillows were comfy in my opinion. -The entire property is absolutely gorgeous, 10/10 gorgeous and so well kept. But it’s HUGE! They have golf cart shuttles that take you from one area to the next- the beach and pool were a 10-12 minute walk from my room (building 4400) but was only a 3-5 minute walk to the buffet and front lobby. -Breakfast buffet was the only buffet I enjoyed. I had a freshly made omelet to my liking every morning (lots of options to put in it). + fresh fruit. The pineapples were great! -For dinner: The Italian restaurant was really good! I also really enjoyed the steak house- don’t skip the prime rib- So tender with a really good bbq sauce, 100% better than the steak! The Mexican restaurant was also really good as well. The not so great: -SO disappointed with their night life. Everything except the casino and 1 bar shut down at 11pm. No music by the bar, no dancing.. nothing. It was March Break and they still didn’t haven’t anything for evenings. The staff that dance to the music (before 11pm) were so fun and engaging. We would be having so much fun, lots of people up dancing and then they literally just shut it down and people had no where to go and nothing to do. -The casino is small and smelled TERRIBLY like cigarettes, it was untolerable. -Property size. Getting a golf cart was a challenge at times because lots of people were taking them. I usually walked because the grounds are so beautiful, but for those with limitations, this could be an issue. -Restaurants are reservations only, and can be hard to get a good time. -I was not a fan of the lunch or dinner buffets. I’m not a picky eater by any means but I found a lot of the items to be sitting in watery/ oil solution which just turned me off to it. Lots of people from our group said they enjoyed the food though. -The kids waterpark had a good sit down menu, the loaded nachos were great- you just have to order and wait at this one.

Review MELIÁ resort
Me and my wife came here to have a 10 week stay . I have to say the rooms are out dated . Shower was broken . The food is terrible. Has no flavour what so ever . I do get a buffet has to cater for everyone’s tastes but it literally tastes of nothing. The food was also stone cold everyday and if food hygiene came here they would shut the place down. Every evening the lobby bar only served drinks in cardboard cups and for a 5 star hotel and we upgraded to the Level option. To sum it up it has put me off ever coming back to the Caribbean and never would use a Melia resort again. I would rate this a 3 star hotel

Good value for price.
The resort and beach is absolutely beautiful. We loved the food and there was always something that we liked. We stayed in level and thought it was well worth the money. We saw long line ups for the buffets that were for everyone but had none of that when eating at the level buffet. We thought the addition of fun republic was wonderful and went and played a round of mini golf. Our room was ok. It was dated as others have mentioned but we didn’t come here to stay in the room. The bed was comfortable so we had some great sleeps. I would recommend this resort and would come back myself. As far as drink service on the beach and pool - you could easily sit an hour with out anyone coming by. I would suggest they have more servers for this. We booked the spa online and then found out it didn’t actually book us in. I would recommend going to book in person. The only other suggestion we had was to have food in the level beach area. There was only sticks of fruit. Over all a fantastic stay so if you have booked this resort and are worried about the negative reviews - don’t let them get to you. It was a fantastic holiday.
