Simply amazing and great value
What an incredible property! From the infinity pool, spa, gorgeous beachfront, amazing restaurants, and the gorgeous facilities to the friendly and quality service from the staff, we were not once disappointed in our 7-night stay. Raul at the pool, Ismael at Las Casitas, Lorena in housekeeping, Bebi in the kids club, and so many other hard working staff really wow’d my son and me. My 12-year-old son kept commenting on how much nicer the staff were than in other places we’d stayed. Ramon in valet was always smiling, and there was woman in the coffee shop who also seemed to be the happiest, kindest person. My massage was so good, I booked a second with the same massage therapist three days later (cannot recall her name because I was so relaxed!) We hear they are closing in Summer 2025 to renovate, which I could see for the spa, but honestly, I hope they don’t change too much! If you get the chance to stay here, don’t pass it up.

warning to check your bill before you leave the property
Please read this to the end because I am going to talk about the good stuff first, but then share a warning which is my main reason for giving this hotel a mediocre review. The hotel has a beautiful beach and gorgeous sunsets. There were always plenty of chairs at the beach. I thought there would be a lot of airplane noise because of its proximity to the airport, but there was not. You could see the planes, but the noise was not an issue – likely because of the beautiful sound of the surf. The pool was also lovely. Our room was always nicely cleaned every day and the beds, bedding and pillows were wonderful. We stayed for 7 nights and ate every breakfast there and the breakfast food was good. We ate dinner there three nights at each of the restaurants the food was ok, but not great. The outdoor restaurant had a great view and ambience. I would eat there again, just for the view. However, there is better food just a short walk away at the marina district. Here is my warning, please review your final bill before you leave the property even if that means holding-up the line for other guests. I usually try to check in advance, but the tv viewing system did not work and no invoice was put under our door the night before check-out. In the morning, I did receive a paper bill at the check-out desk, but I did not go over it line-by-line because I did not want to make the line of people behind me wait, and of course I assumed it would be correct. I realized when I got home it was not. That was a month ago. I sent many emails with little response, but did eventually get a call from a staff person. She explained some issues (like tax on the resort fee which is not shown as a tax), but agreed I did not get the correct credit for the daily resort credit. She said she would check with accounting and call me back that afternoon. She did not. I emailed again a week later, and she responded and advised that I would be credited the correct amount to my credit card within 3-8 business days. That was 13 days ago, I have not received the credit. I did email her, and she has not responded. It is only $55USD, to which I know, I have already devoted too much time. But I think the hotel might make a practice of incorrect billing and just assume eventually the guest will give up and go away. All of this has really disappointed me. So just a word of warning, check your bill thoroughly before you leave.

The Marriott is the place to stay!
The Marriott has become our go-to location whenever we stay in Puerto Vallarta (PV). It’s conveniently located near the airport, and the on-site restaurants offer delicious food and great drinks. The staff is what keeps us coming back; they are attentive, and we have never experienced a major issue during our stays. We have been staying here for 10 years, and this was our first time traveling in October, but the service was still amazing as always. A special shout-out to Ramon for being our photographer while we waited for a cab to head out for the evening.

Full ocean view rooms not issued as reserved.
Very nice hotel, however, for the second year in a row, I have made reservations for two rooms on the end of the corridor, facing the ocean with full view, and at the time of reservations, have been assured those are the rooms I will get. Although I was very descriptive of the rooms I wanted, upon check in, we were given rooms mid-way down the corridor, with partial ocean views.

Great location. Amazing Service.
The hotel is in a prime location within the marina, making it super easy to walk off the resort and explore the surrounding area with plenty of great restaurants. On the resort itself, there’s no shortage of dining options, from the sports bar to the fantastic poolside food. The service, in particular, stands out – the staff knows how to deliver an excellent experience. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The spa is another highlight – I booked a massage, and it was one of the best I’ve had. A fun bonus is the ice cream bar in the lobby, which is a nice touch for an evening treat. The beach area is great for walks, and you can easily move between hotels via the rock separators, allowing you to explore further along the coastline. While the hotel is showing some signs of age, it is generally clean and well-maintained. However, I recommend keeping an eye on your charges and cross-referencing your receipts when checking out, as I had a couple of double charges on my bill. All in all, it’s a solid choice for a getaway with a great location, food, and service. Would definitely return!
