Nice place but they should not allow people to take 15 towels to hog pool chairs
Lovely serene hotel but there are a few drawbacks My biggest beef is that I watched from my balcony at 7:30 am individual people had like 15 towels and proceeded to place towels on pool chairs When we went down at like 9:30 so many of the chairs were taken with nobody using them For hours on end… There is a small placard on the back of the chairs in small print saying that if the chair is unused for a certain amount of hours your stuff will be put at the security desk It made lounging by the pool frustrating as these selfish people just wanted their pool chair monopolized for hours unused Otherwise this hotel is very cute Beds are comfortable , rooms are nice and the restaurants are good ( except for Champions where the food was kind of gross)

Santiago assistance
Thanks to Santiago, Bellman at Marriott Resort and Spa in Puerto. Vallarta ,Mexico I was in desperate need of a pair of white round shoe laces. It just happened that I mentioned this to Santiago and behold two days later he presented me with the exact type of shoe laces that I used I am most grateful for his kindness. He is the sort of person that goes way out of his way to please Marriott’s hotel guests Thank you Santiago

Wonderful Stay
Our group of family/friends recently enjoyed a lovely extended holiday here. This property is located in the marina area and is a quick taxi ride from the airport. It’s also a 5-min walk from numerous delish restaurants in the marina and a 15-min walk to the Soriana grocery store in the marina mall. Your vacation starts with the welcome greeting by the bellmen as soon as you step out of the taxi. Check-in for everyone in our group was quick and problem-free. We had five rooms booked that included panoramic, partial ocean, and garden views. All were as booked. There was a minor issue with one of the rooms that was quickly resolved with a move to another one. Rooms were clean, air conditioning worked well, beds were comfortable and showers had good temp control and water pressure. There are filtered water stations and ice machines on every floor so bring water bottles to fill for drinking and for use in your room. Without a doubt the pool is absolutely the best in PV. The hotel was busy but we ventured down by 7:30am and were able to sit in the same spot every day. There were lots of available loungers by the adult pool area and beach throughout the day. There is no entertainment team so don’t expect daily activities. Food is very good. Favorites included the grilled shrimp salad, burgers, tostadas, clubhouse sandwich, quesadillas, shrimp tacos and chicken tenders. Dinner at Mikado and Las Casitas was delicious but our experience at Champions was disappointing. Loved the coffee, sweet rolls and deluxe bagel sandwiches at the coffee shop. You have the option to charge to your room or pay cash. There is a $30 US daily resort credit offered with some of the room bookings. Be sure to check your charges throughout your stay to avoid any problems at check out. You also receive welcome coupons for two free drinks, a culinary activity and spa time. And last but not least is the outstanding staff throughout the property. Everyone is friendly, helpful and accommodating to ensure you have the best experience. Special shout out to Consierge services and to pool side servers Carlos, Hector and Ernesto who took very good care of our group every day. That level of service always makes the difference and keeps guests returning. Thanks for a lovely stay. See you next year!

The Big Picture. Marriott Casa Magna Puerto Vallarta
This is complicated. Have been staying at this Hotel for at least the past 20 years at roughly the same time. Have experienced changes in ownership and management several times. All with mixed results. This past year it has performed a major renovation of the outside space; the pool and beach areas specifically. Mostly to the good. Still some corner cutting which this hotel specializes in. For example, uncomfortable {short} pool lounges. No chairs which would be helpful for old backs. They kept the really old lounges on the sandy beach area and they are the most comfortable. Larger etc. Why they did that is anyone's guess. In addition, not enough umbrellas to block the strong sun. They need to keep moving the available one from spot to spot when requested. Also lot of broken ones never replaced. Like I said. They cut corners. The reconfiguration created more pool and needed seating space all to the good. As usual the working staff are great. Polite. Helpful. Extremely hard working. This is true for the most part [see front desk] throughout the hotel. Cheers to Ramon at the Front entry and Gonzalo at the Fitness Center. Speaking of the Fitness Center, it is a disaster and has been for years. Old sometimes rusty equipment. Large rubber floor tiles buckling even more than last year. {I use the Center every morning for 1.5 hours.] No maintenance. Infrequent handy sterile wipes. Purell?? Forget about it. They allowed this Center to degrade over the years so that it is borderline worthless. Good new is rumor has it Phase 3 of the reconstuction will enlarge Center and replace equipment. Stay tuned for that one. I'll believe it when and if I see it. Front desk workers,as usual, are sour, borderline hostile, unfriendly and barely competent. As usual there are some exceptions but they are not the rule. Check your bill each day. They make a lot of mistakes. Their accounting system is peculiar. If you look at the bill on the TV in the hotel room, which they invite you to do, it will be different usually than the front desk printout. They can explain it. But is makes the online check out worthless, compelling you to wait in line for long time to check out when you are trying to catch a plane. You can avoid this by getting a bill printed out at the front desk each day and correcting errors if any. Also-and I find this weird-they mostly refuse to cash any peso bills-any amount-to smaller ones. Some workers claim they don't make change. Others go to the back room and come out 5 minutes later with change. Absurd that the hotel will not make change for travelers. Also peculiar that some workers deny they make change and others make change. Try to steer you to expensive ATM in the lobby. However can get change from the front "doormen" They have change from tips and the are all very friendly and helpful. Every one of them throughout the years. Same guys usually. Very little turnover. Concierge desk helpful. Carolina was specially helpful and friendly. Now for the rooms. They replaced the older dresser/drawers which were fine and not that old with newer smaller, strangely configured drawers. Only 3 drawers. extremely deep and very short in front to back space. You are left to storing clothes on shelf below drawers and shelves in closet. Horrible space even for 2 people if you are staying for more than a few days; say a 3 week stay. They should fire whoever thought of this. In addition they got rid of nice size desk with good outlets for a small round inadequate table. None of what they did makes any sense. Years ago the upgraded the lobby furniture with new chairs and couches. They remain as uncomfortable as always. The so called couches are simply pads on top of plywood frames. Very cheap construction. In the washrooms, which were fine, they eliminated the few available fixtures [bars] near the sink or anyplace else convenient to hang a washcloth to dry. So you leave the wet cloth on the sink. Also nice showers if you survive and are of a certain young age. No bars to hold on to. Very slippery marble floors. No safety strips on floor. A broken bone waiting to happen.Maybe Mexico's tort law is more forgiving than U.S. Restaurants: Great breakfast/brunch at La Estancia. Fresh fruits and vegetables Great outside eating area which should be enlarged as it was years ago. We eat in town most nights for dinner. Fresh snapper everywhere. Hard to get in Chicago. The main eating venue for dinner-las casitas-is decent. Nothing special and service is spotty. We may eat there in a pinch once or twice. We don't eat at the pool side but the food we see being eaten looks great and everyone seems happy with it. TV did not work when we arrived. Clicker would not change channels. Simple to fix. Call the front desk to get a new clicker. Problem was the room Phone did not work. Promised for 2 days to send someone up to fix it. Then finally told us they were having problems with some phones. Phone never worked to 3 weeks. Safety issue. They did bring a new clicker to make TV work. Also 1 week into 3 week stay room card would not open door. Had to go back down to front desk. They said they cancelled it but did not know how that happened because we registered for 3 weeks. I ackowledge these are relatively small matters but they add up and are unnecessary. Years ago we were friendly with the then Concierge who is long gone and at least we had someone to communicate with regarding complaints. We also knew the managers and the head Chef. They are all gone and it is not possible to find someone who is in authority willing to listen and take action. If I had a chance to bring these matters to the attention of management I would probably not write this review. However, like I said, we return here every year. I may be repeating myself but with the exception of the front desk all of the workers are a pleasure. Hard working. Friendly. Helpful. We love Puerto Vallarta. But the Hotel minuses are catching up to the pluses.

With new ownership room pricing has increased dramatically and they are changing their format to an all-inclusive.!
I have been staying at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta for the past 10+ years. We have always loved our stays there.. HOWEVER, the new ownership has raised the current room pricing dramatically and they are also changing to an all-inclusive hotel. Sadly, it no longer delivers its value and appeal. We’ve had a great run there and I can’t thank the current staff along with the many who have chosen to leave. Kindly, Craig Harrison
