Bad billing ruined an otherwise good stay

The room and location were both great, but service-particularly billing-really needs improvement. We were billed five nights parking when we didn't have a car and only stayed four nights. The $20 nightly, "destination fee" was also an unpleasant surprise, particularly since the FTC and the California Attorney General regard these junk fees as deceptive trade practices. The hotel promised to credit the fee against food purchases, but when we got the bill there was no credit. They removed the charges after we complained, but all-in-all two-thirds of our initial bill were "mistakes." It's a shame as it was otherwise a nice hotel.

    Highly recommended

Rooms were large. We had 2 king beds in ours. The pillows and beds were very comfortable. The hotel looks to have been renovated recently. The hotel’s restaurant was overpriced but no big deal as there are loads of good restaurants nearby. The hotel had a coffee bar that served Starbucks and fruit beginning at 6 a.m. The best for me was the gym - 2 peloton, foam rollers, TRX straps, weights, well cushioned mats, and there were all plenty of machines and treadmills as well. The staff were great. Location is terrific. We enjoyed walking the canals and the beach. I highly recommend Erewhon grocery store that is a 10 minute walk.

    Great location for exploring LA

This is a great location in Marina del Ray for exploring LA. Upon arriving we saw the very expensive parking charge but the concierge were super helpful and directed us to the car park directly over the road for $6 a night instead of $49. Staying for three nights this saved us a lot! The hotel rooms are spacious and clean. The bar downstairs is nice to have a drink and snack. They offer complimentary yoga every morning and we were the only ones to turn up so had a private lesson which was amazing. Pool is small but great for a quick dip. There is a $30 resort fee per day but in return you get $30 F&B spend per day, two comp non-alcoholic drinks from the bar a day and some other bits and pieces which we did not take advantage of. Our only grip is our fridge in our room did not work and on our last night the smoke alarm kept beeping as needed a new battery but it did not ruin our stay. First day we walked from the hotel to Venice beach up to Santa Monica and back through the Venice Canels. The other days we took the car and no issues getting to and from the hotel. Would recommend if needing a place to stay in LA.

Nice room, no ambience and no views except from your own room

The housekeeping staff was excellent and the room was excellent. The Sindar Restaurant/Lobby bar is very poor. It has no real ambience and is not a place to hang out with friends and enjoy the view. It is a really big drawback and they don't serve lunch. As a matter of fact, there is nowhere on property to hang out and enjoy the harbor views. If it was not for an event we would not stay here.

    Great hotel

The room is very nice. The bed is delicious. My favorite thing about the hotel is the bar downstairs and the coffee bar in the mornings. Every time I come to Los Angeles I stay at this hotel it’s pricey, but because of all the amenities I feel I can justify the price. Though I would stay there more often if they had special deals every once in a while, especially for Bonvoy members.
