Fantastic hotel but the smell is the room
This hotel is fantastic. The only thing is a very chemical smell in the rooms. I stayed there twice, and both times the scent in the rooms was the same.

Severely Disappointing Experience - A Complete Departure from Previous Standards
Having stayed at Maison Colbert Melia previously with great satisfaction, I returned for a three-night June visit expecting the same quality service. This experience was profoundly disappointing and represents a dramatic decline in standards. Our journey began poorly with a 12-hour Eurostar delay from Amsterdam, forcing us to stand for six hours on a replacement train before arriving at 3 AM instead of our scheduled 4:30 PM check-in. Despite these challenging circumstances and our exhaustion (traveling with our dog), the hotel’s response was inadequate. The assigned room, while advertised as having a partial Notre Dame view, was impractically small with no proper luggage storage, forcing us to live out of suitcases placed on the floor. Most concerning was the complete absence of pet amenities despite paying €50 nightly pet fees and providing advance notice - no bed, bowls, waste bags, or treats were provided. Service inconsistencies were troubling throughout our stay. Front desk staff displayed unprofessional behavior, with one senior employee showing clear bias in greeting only select guests while ignoring others entirely. Other staff members remained glued to computers, offering no acknowledgment to arriving or departing guests. Operational problems compounded our frustration. Key cards malfunctioned three times, requiring repeated trips to reception with our pet. Despite paying an additional €300 for late checkout until 5:30 PM (due to flight delays), internet and television services were terminated at 1 PM. Housekeeping staff created constant hallway disruptions with loud conversations and extended cleaning periods that prevented any peaceful rest. The €600 nightly rate, combined with pet fees, represents extremely poor value given these service failures. Even basic room service disappointed - our avocado toast arrived with spoiled fruit, rendering breakfast inedible. This stay was a stark contrast to my previous positive experience. I cannot recommend this property and will seek alternative accommodations for future Paris visits.

A Perfect Parisian Welcome at Maison Colbert
From the moment we stepped into Maison Colbert, we were greeted with the signature warmth and professionalism that define Meliá hotels. Antonio and Monserrat welcomed us with genuine smiles and made sure we were settled in immediately, a true gift after a long international flight. Their kindness set the tone for our entire stay. The attention to detail was impeccable, not just for us, but for our dogs as well. It’s rare to find a hotel that extends such thoughtful hospitality to every member of the family, four-legged ones included! The room was elegant and quiet, the location ideal for exploring the Left Bank, and the service consistently excellent. Maison Colbert isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place to feel cared for. We left with warm memories and will absolutely return.

Very nice hotel with one notable issue
A lovely hotel on a miraculously quiet street with a staff that cannot do enough for you. Our room was quite nice but like most European rooms, fairly small. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. One thing to make note of is that in our room (a deluxe) the bathroom and shower were NOT separate from the room so there was zero privacy. The reception staff is absolutely wonderful and cannot do enough for you.

Far from a Five Star Hotel Experience
How did this place ever get a five star rating? My wife and I arrived at around 8:30pm after taking the train from Switzerland. The "only" room available was a tiny, tiny room on the ground floor. It was so small that my wife and I started laughing but figured it was only for one night. We just wanted a glass of wine and to watch the French Open but the tv didn't work. After some diligent effort by the concierge (he was great but we never saw him the rest of our stay), we were moved to a larger room on the second floor. Kind of begs the question - if this room was available why not just give it to us at the outset rather than stick us in a closet-sized room. You better hustle downstairs as soon as they are open for breakfast - the only meal served by the hotel. They have one lady waiting on all the guests and ordering from the menu really increases the lead time (even if it's just scrambled eggs and bacon). This really irritated us: we were told that the hotel would move us to scheduled room after the first night. Fine, another move, but hopefully a better room. After sightseeing all morning and walking miles to view Paris, we just wanted to get back to our room and lay down. But they locked us out of our second room because housekeeping cleans from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. So we were told to sit in the restaurant where lunch is not an option. I couldn't believe it. We were already guests at the hotel: if the staff knew we would be kicked out of our second room, they should have directed housekeeping to have our next room available shortly after noon. If they can't accomplish that simple move as a five star rated hotel, then at least have the decency to let us know that our room would not be available until 3:00pm. I suspected they did not appreciate my feedback too much as they were less than cordial for the remainder of our visit. The rooms we had were very, very small but I accept that is standard for a Paris boutique hotel in a good location. The bathrooms are so tiny that one person barely fits in. The lighting in our last room was unpredictable - sometimes everything would come on and other times we struggled with getting the lights on. The thermostat would not respond as the message light claimed "window open" which it was not. I opened and relocked the window several times but the thermostat was not buying it. I could keep going but I will end with the noise is unbelievable. Apparently, deliveries for the hotel are scheduled extremely early in the morning and through the front courtyard. Multiple deliveries too; just when you think the clamor of trucks wheeling stuff in and slamming their doors has ended. The management of this hotel should stay at Raffles of London and see how a real five star hotel operates.
