We will return and I don’t say that often.
Loved the pool/ swim up bar. Our room had view of the water/was quiet and accessible as I have walking issues. The restaurants were a delight. A little live music after dinner would have made it perfect.

Rewards Points Stay
After experiencing a problem with a remote eco lodge that caused us to leave and find last minute lodging, as a Titanium member with Marriott, I booked two nights with Marriott points redemption. I checked in on my Marriott app and used the chat feature to communicate with the front desk. Upon arrival around 3pm, we had to wait 15 or 20 minutes for our room. The resort was very busy as it was Jan. 2nd, so no suite upgrades were available but, we were given a room with a beautiful view which was appreciated. The ocean view room was very clean and comfortable despite being a bit outdated. We love how the resort hallways and lobby are open air - you’ll hear birds singing as you walk to and from your room. We were impressed by all of the beautiful, tropical landscaping - everything is manicured and walking the pathways through the property is enjoyable. We never swam in the pools but we did go paddle-boarding once and that was fun! (included activity in resort fee, must reserve in advance). While paddle-boarding we saw 4 spotted eagle rays - one jumped out of the water in front of my board and the other three were in shallow water. It’s easy to find stingrays but really cool to see the spotted eagle rays! Breakfast - I can honestly say that the breakfast buffet here is the WORST breakfast we have ever had at a Marriott resort. Breakfast is something we enjoy to just relax and sip coffee especially in Costa Rica where breakfast is typically so good with fresh, tropical fruit and gallo pinto. Unfortunately, this resort’s breakfast is just not good at all. The food quality was poor, baked goods tasted stale and even the coffee was lackluster. As a Titanium status member, our breakfast is usually complimentary but not at this resort. They provided Continental at no charge and you could upgrade for $15/p.p.. This would not be an issue at all if the food quality was good. It was disappointing since breakfast is usually something we look forward to on vacation. We enjoyed walking over to the marina where there are many restaurants to choose from. We loved the Dolce Vita gelato and coffee shop. They have delicious croissants and desserts! We had an excellent fish dinner at The Hook Up overlooking the Marina. Overall, we had a nice stay here and I would stay again if in the area.

A Lot Left to be Desired
We left the hotel with really mixed impressions. The beach is not somewhere you want to swim, so the pool was in constant use throughout the day and night. All rooms face the pool, so there was noise from the pool from 7am to 10pm non-stop. We are Bonvoy Platinum members and were forced to pay $7 for bottled water upon check-in after arriving late at night from the airport, quite shocking for a first impression. There is absolutely nothing walking distance from the hotel except for the Los Suenos Marina which contains a handful of soulless restaurants catered to American tourists, and the resort was quite dead by 8pm every night of our stay. We were given a voucher to pick up a welcome gift from the concierge desk as elite members rather than just leaving the gift in the room like every other property we've stayed at. At the concierge desk, we were asked rather personal and inappropriate questions about our family composition by the staff member on duty that were completely irrelevant to the job of a concierge or the provision of a welcome gift. The hotel grounds are immaculately maintained for what it's worth, but as can be expected from an aging beach property the rooms did have a musky scent. Breakfast for elite members was served in the far inferior Bar 8 rather than in the main restaurant, and the breakfast offerings were quite limited and not fresh. Overall, I'd say the hotel is isolated (not in a good way) and is very predatory in service offerings to try and capitalize on this isolation. The service at this property was either entirely neutral or even passive aggressive at times, not exactly the impression that should be given at a resort property. There are far better places to stay in Costa Rica, and I personally am not in a hurry to return to this property that is beautiful on the surface but is lacking a lot once you dig a little deeper.

4 stars but could be 5
My wife and I stayed in an adults-only swim-up room. The room itself was spacious and well-appointed, though a bit dated. That said, it was very clean and clearly well maintained. The swim-up feature was a great perk and definitely one of the highlights of the stay. There were, however, a couple of disappointments. Surprisingly, the view from the adults-only swim-up room overlooks the children’s playground, which was a bit of a vibe killer. In addition, there was no poolside service at the swim-up pool. I even called the front desk to request drink service and was told someone would come, but no one ever did. Despite these issues, the overall service throughout the hotel was excellent—staff members were consistently friendly, polite, and welcoming. Overall I would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again.

Macaws & Marriott!
We had an amazing experience at Marriott Los Suenos with our family of four. The biggest surprise were the flocks of macaws that decended upon the grounds each morning! They were so beautiful! Also, shout-out to the Ocho restaurant - best Mexican food we had in Costa Rica!
