  I recently stayed at Lopesan Bávaro Beach in the Dominican Republic. Firstly, the grounds are gorgeous and you really feel like you’re in a private resort. Check-in was fairly easy but did take a little while. Overall, it was a decent stay. Below is a list of the good and bad for anyone considering a stay here: Good: The Steakhouse was great! By far the best restaurant here. 10/10 would recommend. The pool. There’s alot of space at the pool, we never felt overly crowded and staff would come by often to take drink orders. The Spa. Had a great experience at the spa. Went with the hour long massage and jacuzzi. It was great! Needs Improvement: Most other restaurants are very average. The buffet isn’t terrible but don’t expect a high quality selection. The Gondola (Italian Restaurant) was very below average. The pastas were on the same level as microwaved pastas. Would not recommend. Pool Sales. The pool in itself is great, but the excursion salesmen are annoying. They’re nice, but you can absolutely expect them to come by at least once an hour to try to sell you an excursion. I was woken up from a nap to be asked if I wanted to go deep sea fishing. This can be really annoying when you’re simply just trying to relax. The beach. The water off the beach is beautiful but don’t expect a typical beach experience. The water at the shore is full of seaweed and there’s always a hundred boats just off the shore. It’s a good spot to go tan, but that’s about it. The rooms. The rooms are nice, but bring humidity bags. They help. If not, your room will have a small sticky feeling to it also, a lot of our outlets did not work. They did fix a couple of them though. Overall this was a decent resort, but for the money I was a little disappointed.

  Pros The hotel does look beautiful inside and it’s very scenic with lovely views whilst walking around. There is an amazing ice cream parlour which we loved so much!! The decor in the restaurants was beautiful and very instagramable. A lot of the staff were very friendly throughout! The rooms were very spacious and clean. Cons It was very rowdy by the main pool with a lot of drunk people and very loud music playing. The beach absolutely stinks of diesel from the boats parked there, we couldn’t sit in it for too long. The food everywhere is ok .. it’s not great but it’s manageable. Some meals we had were great but then we’d order the same another night and it wasn’t good.. not sure why there’s that inconsistency.

  5 Star Experience

  We went during Christmas, and the resort was absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend booking a room with the swim-up pool—it was a complete game changer. Our room was spotless, incredibly spacious, and felt like a true retreat. Belnin, our personal butler, truly took our experience to the next level. He handled all of our reservations seamlessly and surprised my wife and me with a beautifully rose-petal-decorated room, complete with wine and chocolates. The attention to detail and level of care made our stay unforgettable.

  Beautiful property. Not worth the money

  The property is gorgeous. It has everything you want or need. And you can tell they work hard to keep it looking pretty. What will disappoint you is the “little” details, which can largely impact your experience. The quality is the food is horrendous. Don’t get me wrong, when you see it, the presentation is outstanding. But you won’t eat what you take, because the quality is very very bad. The drinks are bad. Even if you try to pay for it request their very limited top quality liquor, the chasers are so bad that you won’t want it. But I know this is common to a lot of all-inclusives so I’m not blind to that fact. If you want to get drunk quickly and feel bad the next day, you’ll be okay with it. If you want to enjoy a nice drink, don’t expect that here. The rooms- beautiful. But most smell moldy. Our room smelled so so bad. You could see visible black spots on the ac vent. And the sheets were moist when we went to go to sleep the first night. When I complained about these things, I received an email from a do-not-reply alias that told me they would do a deep cleaning of the room and that I should not leave the balcony doors open. I could not have left the balcony doors open because I just checked in. So the blame they tried to pass off to me actually wasn’t my fault. I didn’t push it because our relatives rooms also had a similar issue. And I read a number of reviews that said they moved rooms a few times and kept having the same issue. This is a problem with the property. My parents didn’t have any running water one day in their room and we didn’t have any hot water one of the days. They also do not have irons in every room and it takes a while to get one. In my case they asked me to call back the next day and the next day I waited until 1 pm, and 3 calls later to finally beg the housekeeper outside to grab me one from the empty room since I’m trying to get ready for a wedding party. Overall I want to stress that the property is beautiful. And they did a really nice job with the wedding of my relative. I’m only speaking to the things that I know I’d wan to know before staying somewhere.
